  1. The main difference between men's and ladies bikes (of the same frame / manufacturer) is that the ladies bike will have a shorter top tube to account for the (generally) shorter reach that women have. It's not strictly necessary to get a women's specific bike, as diff manufacturers have diff frame designs and measurements and so a women's specific spez, for example, may have the same measurements as a men's giant. Also, because of the "women specific" tag, women's bikes are generally more expensive and lower specced (therefore heavier) than their equivalent mens.bikes. which is a load of bollocks, imo.
  2. Give the 70 a bash. If its not for you, at least you'll know for sure instead of not being sure now and having to check out on another uncertainty.
  3. Lekka read! Awesome bikes too
  4. Good man! You'll get far mote enjoyment that.way, and get a bike.that's exactly how you want.
  5. Problem is, anything Santa Cruz and you're going.over budget unless you go 2nd hand. In that case, I'd rather keep the Yeti and get a 9er hardtail to play on, or use on the non tech, jeep track ridden rides.
  6. Yeah, I've seen a similar one at Olympic before, I think... Good looking bike. Nice and simple...
  7. Solution - buy an On One / Cotic / Momsen frame, and build it up using "cheap" components. Loads of 2nd hand 29er forks & wheels going at the moment, and you'll be able to get a fantastic bike on a budget.
  8. Where & when, DJR? And why no me? AAARGH! You know how I love to swing a ho around...
  9. shot dude. I wanna ride her damn hard this weekend. Probably the last 2 weeks before little Mayhem is born, so I gotta get as much in as possible!
  10. I'd like to keep it subtle. In the "wrong" light you can hardly see the decals. When it gets into the sunlight, the paint is fantazmagorical.
  11. Well, Pittstop, she's treating me very well. I, on the other hand, have been neglecting her. I rebuilt her about a month back (regreased all bearings, took the BB apart, topped up the fork oil a bit, and just gave her a wash) and now I need to ride her more often. I've been concentrating on my XC bike lately though, and trying to hone my skill on the short travel HT so I can transfer it to the GT. I'll be riding her more and more over the next few weeks (when I can get the time with the imminent new arrival) but as you know, she's a beeeeyatch to ride up the hills!
  12. And the chainrings. SRAM chainrings (as Petatodd pointed out) have "shifting pins" which "catch" the chain when attempting the shifts.
  13. So glad my mate was on the ball for this!
  14. Why do you want a 42? Unless you're riding on dirt roads (ie: not proper mtb) all the time, I find the 42 to not only compromise your clearance on the tech stuff, but to be too big to warrant it. A 36/11 should give you all the high end speed you need unless you're riding jeep track all the time
  15. Fuji, no doubt. The upgrade to the fork is worth a helluva lot.
  16. Tbh, sounded like some sort of jaded dating technique... Good luck bro.
  17. I must say, V, that is one ery smart looking bike... Props!
