  1. 2 reasons why to train for MTB on a road bike: 1. It's cheaper. You don't go through drive trains and suspension components. 2. It's much easier to accurately control your HR during interval training. Main reason to not do it - you'll get dead when a taxi eventually collects you. Edit - how do I delete a double post like this? Stupid phone...

  3. That's a nice 2 week holiday!
  4. Yup, quite right. Have booked at guesthouse in oudtshoorn for Saturday, Sunday and the following Saturday when we return.
  5. Driving down - will probably leave very early Saturday morning. We'll then drive back the following Sunday, but sleep over somewhere. I'm guessing we have to organize accommodation for the first Saturday and the last Sunday?

I concur. The England tour was brilliant - I was riveted and the attendance at the grounds (even the test matches) proved that Cricket in all forms is still appealing.
  7. There are about 40 bajillion threads on the subject - have a look in the Tech Q&A section. There is even a pinned one so that you don't have to look far. This subject has been discussed ad nauseum.

I'll tell you who has the most mental toughness - it's not Australia or even India. It's us - the fans!!! A true South African cricket supporter is both brave and blindly hopeful, far beyond what could be reasonably expected. I love hating cricket.
  9. I haven't done J2C (yet), but I'm aiming to do all 9 days. Reason being - it's the most time off work, and riding a bike is more fun than work. Period.

No, pretty bummed. I'm doing cape pioneer the week after. I've done 3 towers the previous 2 years, and it is without a doubt the best 3 day stage race in the country. Sounds like you okes are gonna have a jol! Will be doing the USN race and the Nissan race in November tho. Oh, and probably the 24 hr @ van Gaalens.

Jcza, we should rather stop talking about cricket, it's just depressing and gets everyone tense. I get the feeling we both do the same races, so let's rather say howzit at the next race and have a straf dop afterwards? At least one saffer won this WE - I'm sure Mrs. Stander loves Burry's new tat.
  12. Ja, I had a look at the booklet in the new Tread magazine. That climb looks hardcore. Can't wait to suffer! I'm not sure what's worse - wet, and your bike k@ks off, or hot and you k@k off?

Tea is not for me thx. Leaves a bitter taste in the mouth, a bit like overly negative people. I'm feeling better already!

You sound well chuffed. Eyeing Perth are we?
  15. Respect for doing that on a SS! That was a helluva lot of climbing. At least it wasn't as much of a gore fest as some predicted. I really enjoyed it. Pity I had to bail - was riding with my wife, and she packed it in with about 10k to go. I think she got gastro. :-(
  16. I had hope techs on my previous bike and I now have XTR trails on my new bike. No comparison - hopes have more stopping power, better modulation and are more reliable. Will be selling my xtr's for some hopes.
  17. If this was in my back yard, I'd do the same. Unfortunately, flown down for the weekend, so gonna do the race regardless of conditions. Hope it's not too rough. It bloody cold and overcast this morning, so little chance of things drying out, I'd say.

I agree with all your crticisms wrt to batting, bowling and captaincy. However, to just jump to 'chokers' is totally too much. Also, remember that we still have 2 more games. We're not out yet. Plenty of time to get the tar and feathers ready... Edit: 2 more games

    Cricket......

With all due respect, you're a tjop to say that. We lose the first game in the super 8's and predictably the done-to-death chokers sledge comes out. Come on man, that's bloody unnecessary.
  20. Hahaha! Seriously though, it depends on how snugly the little caps fit into the ends of your bars. That's where the circle schematic thingy comes in, I think.

Can't really blame the bowlers. 130 something is not a defendable total. I thought we did wellto push them so far.

  23. It's a bit like whinging about paid adverts on the TV or radio that get overplayed, actually. Just change channels, or in this case avoid the thread.
  24. I thought this thread was about bars. Next thing circle schematics with bumps and PSI figures start appearing. I could handle a couple of straight line handle bar schematics. I'm out.
  25. Bliksem, if your bars are round like that, you gonna have groot k@k!
