  1. Cool, that's lovingly known as Jugg's Big One. The 10 year old kid on the 24" Commencal apparently tried to hit that on his race run and cased it, crashed, collected his thoughts and still managed a 2nd place. Flippen impressive
  2. Hopefully this isn't a repost, but it is a shame Stevie won't be able to defend his title after breaking his ankle in New Zealand late Feb http://www.vitalmtb.com/news/news/Steve-Smith-Cases-Jump-Injures-Ankle,715 http://www.pinkbike.com/video/351905/
  3. Post a decent sized .gif of your avatar Peach.
  4. Fooken 'ell! Well at least the DH track will have become a bit rougher... Perhaps too rough for trail bikes?
  5. Thanks guys that is some really good info right there. I also searched about for O-rings sometime back and found some good info <<here>> Well that page links to 3 other pages with all the info...
  6. Did you just take the O-rings into SKF with you or how did you go about measuring them?
  7. Financially broke or physically broke?
  8. You pay FNB monthly... Sounds like you have a *** sponsorship.
  9. Back to the topic Kit in order of importance: A good fitting FF helmet (fit is essential). Knee pads (if he's riding flats, I'd suggest shin pads too) Elbow pads A good set of DH shorts (with hip protection) Full finger gloves To start I'd consider body armour with back protection (it will probably become a go to item when trying 'new' stunts, but mostly not used, it is just too cumbersome & hot). The neck brace would be the last piece of kit I'd buy (it really is personal preference and there are groups on both sides of the fence as to weather or not they are really that beneficial).
  10. The whole goggle trend is so that those goggle sponsors get their time in the limelight. Brands like Oakley, Adidas, Von Zipper, etc. get no real airtime, so I'm quite sure that it is probably a condition of contract, same as cruising onto the podium with the energy drink sponsoring your riding.
  11. Games of Thrones - Season 4 airs April 6... http://youtu.be/xZY43QSx3Fk South Parks take on Game of Thrones (and the excessive display of wieners through out the series). http://youtu.be/XifUlSyQ2CI
  12. Ha ha!!! That glove model has to be called 'The Shocker' http://www13.myfantasyleague.com/fflnetdynamic2013/10248_franchise_icon0004.jpg
  13. The difference: http://brimages.bikeboardmedia.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/Industry-Nine-XD-XX1-Driver-Body-parts011-600x398.jpg That little 10t would be the only real advantage TBH, but certainly not worth the cost.
  14. Ja, if you want to run 7 speed just take off the sprockets you don't want and fill the gaps with old cassette spacers or BB spacers. No need for an expensive freebody & cassette. If you really want you can leave the largest sprocket on to act as a spacer and to make sure the chain never lands up in the spokes. GM ran 7 gears for PMB last year. http://singletrackworld.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/2013/12/scb_greg_v10_cassette-798x600.jpg
  15. Hey CAAD4, I got mine through CRC and they managed to ease past customs without any fuss. Here they are on CRC, certainly not as cheap as I remember them being... Locally I've seen Fly Racing stuff at most of the local MX stores (Full Throttle, World of Accessories etc.). According to the Fly Racing website the distributors are in Lonehill, perhaps give them a shout. SOUTH AFRICA TRP Distributing PO Box 505, Lonehill 2062 Johannesburg +27 11 465 1336
  16. I'm too slow for kit that bright.
  17. The longest lasting gloves I've use to date are the Fly Racing Kinetic gloves. I sourced them through CRC but you can find them locally through one of the local MX shops. http://www.extremesupply.com/Merchant2/graphics/00000001/600x600/flyracing/flyracing_gloves/flyracing_gloves_kinetic.jpg
  18. Absolutely not! You know the rules... Now turn in your SpruitRat badge (or sell that Intense M9 of yours to upgrade your kit )
  19. I would say get it here (import or local) before you leave & use it a fair bit to make sure it works for you. No point buying kit over there only to find out it doesn't quite suite you and wasting a day of riding walking through all the stores trying to decide which kit you want. That said you'll have way more variety to choose from over there, but make sure you get there fairly early in the season as towards the latter portion of the season a lot of the 'normal' sized stuff is out of stock.
  20. Apparently the model was of Mediterranean decent and that stubble grew during the 4 hour shoot.
  21. PART 4 The gals all had a date with dirt, but all seemed to have an excellent day out. 13. Kath Fourie grabbing gold (and a tree) on the day 14. Kate having second thoughts and the g-out on the road. 15. Joanne Hicks laying 'er down 16. HayleyEarth, "Ohhh look a penny!" That's all for now. Thanks Patches for the pics. PS there were no pics of the really fast guys as they were literally just blurs in the pics. RESULTS (that I can remember off the top of my head) Elite Men 1. Tim Bentley 2. Tiaan Odendaal 3. Sam Bull Juniors 1. Special Greg 2. Jonathan Philogene (spelling?) 3. Nicholas Camp Ladies 1. Kath Fourie 2. Kate Stephenson 3. Joanne Hicks Sub-vets (where the real racing happens ) 1. Nigel Hicks 2. Joe Bokkman 3. Mark Millar Vets 1. Mark Hill 2. Martin Camp 3. Kayn Woolmer Full results should be up at Elite Timing
  22. PART 3 9. Nige doing the business on the day & smoking the rest of the Sub-vets 10. Shane Martin having no issues. His little brother did a number on his right leg in practice (broken!) so healing vibes to the Ginger Snap! 11. Dave Drummond having cruising the steep stuff. 12. David Hogan finding his feet.
  23. PART 2 5. Joe Bauckham (now Bokkman for the remainder of his stay in SA), destroying catch berms! 6. Special guest on the day Daft Vader 7. Peach dropping into the steeps 8. Ryan "the mouth" du Toit testing the tensile properties of the tape
  24. PART 1 Some pics from yesterdays DH race... 1. One of the Rats taking a dive. 2. Des Ellis getting squirly in the steep loose stuff 3. Mark Sydney (the Enduro co-coordinator) keeping his (borrowed) Bronson pointing in the right direction. 4. Yours truly getting a wee bit out of control, but rode it out .
