I know this is a TV thread but: Michael Caine's Maine accent in The Cider House Rules. Sean Connery's in anything non-Scottish. The Untouchables etc. Both got best supporting actor Oscars for those roles even though the accents are truly awful. I'm with you on the Ewan McGregor accent foibles.
