  1. IMHO another massive hub storm in a BB cup.. Everybody goes on about defamation and tarnished images of riders and food getting taken out the mouths of children of pro athletes and what not... Maybe this is only my view, but if anybody based their opinion of me/my organization based on a rumour started on a highly volatile internet site, well to me that person's opinion/view is nul and void. Water on a frogs back, or whatever. Because you're an idiot for forming an opinion in that regard, and an idiot's opinion does not count. Unless it is a general election in an African country, which is another matter all together. My question (not leading in any way) to the AT team is this: Everybody moans about the decline of road races in SA (Giro etc), now there is a race where pro's are getting involved (because there is money for them) and is seemingly becoming quite high profile, now everyone still bitches. I understand that it sucks to be beaten by a team with more resources, but surely it is a massive boost to the race and the sport must benefit? Yes, it comes at the price of amateur teams, and in this regard I agree 100%, start a category for teams with only amateur riders.
  2. Forgot the Garmin at home, will upload profile tomorrow.. Gelukkig voel ek vandag lekker, anders sou die mense in die kantoor my snaaks aangekyk het as ek anders sou voel.. PS Saw some people cycling on the N14 coming back on Sunday. How stupid dangerous is that!!!!????? GEEZ
  3. And 90% of the 90% that comes from China break 90% of the time.. So I fail to see your point.
  4. Thanks, but I'm looking for the pure-decanted-out-the-25kg-bulk-bag thing, going for R10/kg.. Not R100/500g
  5. Thanks, again will keep it in mind, but no-one in the South, West or North JHB? Randburg, Sandton, Fourways..????
  6. No-one in JHB then? b-unit can help me out but is in PTA
  7. I normally get about 2-3kg's, but desperate to get any amount before the weekend.. Can you help?
  8. Anybody know where I can get my fix in Jozi? Please help!!!!
  9. I'm there, just please please make it available to single entries too!!!!
  10. Off course I didn't, why would I go and waste my time reading posts when I could rather focus my time on making unsubstantiated irrational claims.. My post has more to do with the general hub advise about brakes, which is bleed baby bleed... The braking system is this black box technology and the only surefire way to fix it is too bleed it. This has never been my experience though..
  11. Someone please explain what is the obsession with bleeding brakes? Disk squeals: Bleed the brakes Disk binds: Bleed the brakes Dodgy shifting: Bleed the brakes.. Tyre sealant not working: Bleed the brakes... EVERYTHING on my MTB has broken at some point in time after years of constant abuse and I've NEVER had to bleed my brakes, and they've given me plenty hassles over the years.. Do you people even understand how the system works? What problem would exist that bleeding the brakes would solve? There can be only 2 in my mind: 1: Air in the system leading to spongy braking (Unlikely to ever happen unless you cock something up big time) 2: Not enough brake fluid so pumping and pumping has no effect (Unlikely to ever happen unless you've cocked up even bigger than in 1, or your seal went, which I've never heard of...) EDIT: My bad, this would actually only require you to top up the resivoir and with a bit of luck not require bleeding...
  12. Dude, you live in Randburg and have an issue with not stopping at red lights... seriously? AND I see you ride with Lance.. To me that means you must take your cycling oh so VERY seriously.. Me, I'm more of a social rider, and some other social riders and I, say about 50-80 depending on the day, meet at a garage up the road at a very social 5am in the mornings and head in your general direction, i.e. Randburg. Now coincidently my GF lives in Linden just below Beyers Naude, which is EXACTLY along our cycling route. And here is the interesting bit: I cover that 10km odd QUICKER on my bike than what I do in a car. Why you wonder? Largely due to the 29 (I counted) traffic lights on route. So me and another 70 riders invariably break the traffic rules on a weekly basis, and those who don’t simply do so because they'd rather get dropped stopping at a light than up Jan Smuts.. So for me, yes, I approach with caution and then shoot through.. And I do the same for a red light.. But feel free to join the group one morning and show us the error of our ways..
  13. If most of it is off-road I'm in!! Screw it, I'm in regardless.. PS no point advertising this on thehub, there are plenty people here who talk about cycling, few who do..
  14. Mampara did mention that highly contagious incurable skin rash that he's having to battle with ever since that "night ride" down Rivonia Blvd?
  15. yes, in the mountains and on the roads with other people take your pic grabs coat
  16. Seriaas, that looks like every single road bike I've ever seen... Wait, I'm not even I cyclist, what am I doing here...
  17. Johan, (cough cough..) do you need demo wheels?
  18. torque = force x distance. 6 Nm = applying 6N perpendicular to a 1m long lever 6N = 600g of mass hanging down. Generically, hang a mass M (kg) on the end of a horizontal lever length X (m) calculated from : 6Nm = M*10*X Easy peasy
  19. I heard from my German friend that in europe there are cheaper places to spend your dough, but they are not that good at shipping out here, hence we stick to CRC. Guess now is a good time to shop around.
  20. Have to say I'm very jealous, did plenty Epic training in that area earlier this year. Amazing riding, must be some of the best in SA. Now up in JHB and get depro thinking about what I'm missing. Enjoy every second.
  21. What amazes me even more is that the trick ONLY work on friends' bikes.. Found a solution though but to lazy to type it up nicely.. basically for Avids get rid of the spherical washers on the bolt head side of the connection. I had a shop machine some stainless steel spacers. Still have to do more intense riding though, but seems much better for now.
  22. Do you have any routes in GPS format? Going there at the end of the year, staying in 3 places from just below PSJ down to below hole in the wall. Planning to just wing it on the bike, but some routes would be lekker. Thanks
  23. You'll have to get the local maps, the loaded map is quite useless.
  24. Jip, you'll need to get some additional maps as the base map is borderline useless. About the screen protectors, I got the ones by Zagg (?) through invisible protectors, have to say it seems quite the business..
