  1. kinda looks like my hometown ng dominee's daughter #pastoriekinners
  2. you are correct according to my recollection of domicile from 1995 family law. We had 1 lecture on a complex issue where there is probably some international law involved. I'd rather ask a specialist...
  3. Guessing it starts with G? Nice!
  4. Until a 5 year old you know and love is diagnosed with gender dysphoria and you have to support his/her parents through potential heartbreaking decisions... and it hits close to home. Educate yourself before commenting on something that is really be heartbreaking for those involved. But to keep the fred on track: Listen... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amgVvKQ40AY
  5. Gender dysphoria is real and the choices parents face in these situations are many times heartbreaking. From sex changes at very young ages to hormone suppressive treatment before puberty. And the alternative is your child's mental health (depression and suicide are real risks). These parents are faced with being damned if you do, damned if you don't. Walk a step or two in their shoes and give empathy. Every parent wants the best possible lives for their kids. But let's keep this fred awesome.
  6. newest safety tech: the top toptube keeps your nuts from cracking on the bottom toptube...
  7. ag no man, off topic. This belongs on the Braai fred!
  8. My strategy: think long-term and roll with the punches, even if it means taking a few (personal) jabs on the chin. However, set boundries and build that wall. (i am NOT a Drumpth supporter). My kids first.
  9. Unfortunately, the Ruskies didn't spend money on niceties on these. You should see the original "strap"... The strap you spy is from www.cheapestnatostraps.com https://www.cheapestnatostraps.com/collections/nato-regimental/products/nato-regimental-strap-light-blue-black-and-orange-20-mm
  10. The USSR navy diver my boet gave me for my 40th birthday. The thing is HUUUUGE:
  11. now I'll have to shoot a kudu in july...the hunt is on. This looks really good!
  12. get rid of the bad habits!
  13. Thanks Eddy. Needed this today.
  14. Ag no man. Sterkte daarmee.
  15. CAVEAT: Guys, the following is based on my distant recollection of my 1995 family law 101. I don't rely on my knowledge on this and neither should you. In order to claim maintenance from someone you have to prove the following 3 things: 1) A relationship (verwantskap - studied this in Afrikaans, may get translations wrong) with the person from whom you claim; 2) A need for maintenance; and 3) The person from whom you claim must have the means to pay. My ex-to-be will have no relationship with my parents and will therefore not be able to claim maintenance FOR HERSELF from them. She may claim for the kids (in the event that I don't pay their maintenance [i intend to maintain my kids to the best of my ability]) from them. However, she will have to prove 2 & 3, which will probably include reasons why she cannot maintain the kids herself, as well as my parents' ability and her parents abilty to pay maintenance. All about the circumstances as Armpies said. I believe the kids' relationship to my brother is too far removed.
  16. Do you imply that I ride panaracer speedblaster 1.75s? Granted, I weigh only 65kgs and get away with a bit lighter tyres (Spaz Purgatories/WTB Vigilante) than say a Minion DHF/DHR. But, point taken.
  17. wondered what the brits for that was!
  18. Had an awesome weekend with the kids. There were a few emotional moments, but met some really good people. No one got eaten by lions, although a muskeljaatkat visited our site.
  19. sterkte boet. I'm in the process as well. Some days are better than others. Some are just plain ****. I too experienced grace and empathy from people from whom I didn't even expect it. Take it day by day and get counseling for yourself and your kid. My therapist is much harder than me based on the advice she gives regarding my (ex)wife. A number of hubbers reached out and gave me sound advice. I am forever thankful for that. Something positive: I'm taking my kids camping for the first time this weekend. Looking forward, but also anxious about how it will work out. They're 6 & 4.
  20. I also noticed the porky trend in new bikes. Put it in perspective, my 2014 SC5010 carbon, sram x1, pike & dropper weighs in at 12.2 kg with flat pedals and 2.3 tyres. Similar new 5010 almost 1kg heavier.
  21. I don't want to like your post for liking it feels wrong, but you are 100% correct. She's made up her mind.
  22. Will do, thanks
  23. My wife sprang the divorce surprise on me on 5 Dec. It sucks. I love her and really did my best. Some days are better than others. Today was not good. We still live in the same house. The kids don't know yet (6&4 yrs old). The reasons she gave are reasons you break up a std 8 relationship, not an almost 11yr marriage. I will get through this and I'm focussing on the best possible outcome for our children.
  24. Joe, Hairy, these pics belong on the awesome fred!!! Bjarrafull.
