Consider getting an insulated sleeping pad. They're a bit heavier, but, I think, worth it. I got a non-insulated sleeping pad (similar to what you're looking at) and the ground sucks up all the heat you generate. Not even a proper down sleeping bag could make up for it. That was a cold night on top Stellenbosch mountain.

Cost and weight, as well as my weight played a part. Being hobbit sized I can get away with a lot; very low pressure on tyres, not as powerful brakes, etc.

Does refreshing UPS's tracking page every 2 minutes make shipping go faster? It;s been a long wait since Feb!???? Hopefully its over come Monday ???? The final build: I changed the Lyrik to a CC Helm (160mm) and got new brakes: Hope E4 front, X2 back with 203mm and 180mm rotors and a bunch of One-up stuff.

I bought an 3F UL Gear Lanshan Pro 2 person trekking pole tent on Aliexpress(https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000355015854.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.66b24c4dFWeF8g). Without footprint and trekking poles, it weighs 915g for a 2 person, very spacious tent. Down side is you would have to buy tent poles extra. My set-up with carbon trekking poles and footprint weigh about 1.5kg. You can simply buy 1.25m tent poles and use those instead of trekking poles. NB: The tent needs to be seam sealed to be waterproof. Not difficult, but a bit of a hassle. The Naturehike VIK 1 (https://www.naturehike.co.za/collections/hiking-tents/products/vik-series-ultralight-1-person-tent) also got very good reviews. I just went for the Lanshan as I use trekking poles for hiking in any case. If money wasn't a limiting factor, I'd get a Zpacks Duplex (https://zpacks.com/products/duplex-tent), but at US$ 650, excl. shipping, VAT and duties (+an additional 50% give or take), it is a bit steep. BUT it weighs a mere 550g. My dream bike-touring tent is the Nemo Dragonfly bikepack tent (https://www.nemoequipment.com/product/dragonfly-bikepack/). Its poles features shorter sections, which makes it extremely packable. It also has some other nice bike-packing friendly features. But expensive @ US$450. The Lanshan on its first outing. And then there are ACDs...this dog is jakkals clever. I really enjoy Rocket. He can go on a 5 hour mountain hike/run or a 90min mtb ride, but has an off-switch.

Landy, good to hear about only 2 months to go on maintenance payments! I made payment 17 of 18 on rehabilitative maintenance this morning ????. Thanks for starting this thread way back. The advice given on here helped me so much in working through the whole ordeal. I'm happier now than I've been in a looooooong time. I don't think it will be a good idea to apply set-off against her maintenance unless she agreed in writing. The fines were incurred by the kids and it remains their responsibility, not your ex's. (Maybe one of the legal guys on here can confirm or tell me I'm talking utter rubbish) In the bigger scheme, if I were you, I'd settle the fines and get the car off my name (and onto the ex's) ASAP.

Rocket, my 9 month old Australian Cattle Dog, needs plenty of exercise. I initially took him on runs, but he didn't get the mileage he needs. Therefore we go for rides. Rocket on a lead turns my bike into an e-bike for the first kilometer. He sticks with me and, for a youngster, is very well behaved. We only ride at quieter times. Up to last week, I could still drop him down G-Spot. This morning I had him at my heels and had to let to let it all hang out to stay ahead.

After almost 2 years of going back and forth on with what to replace my trusty Santa Cruz 5010, I finally left holy ground and pulled the trigger on a Deviate Highlander frame. A FREAKIN' 29er... I'm getting the black edition with 150mm rear travel. The aim is a more trail orientated bike, rather than full enduro, ie. no Zeb or 38 or piggy back shock. I haven't 100% decided on the build, but it will most probably be: RS Lyrik Ultimate 160mm; CaneCreek DB Air IL DT rims laced to Hope hubs Hope X2 brakes from my current bike SLX 12x group set (this is a big change for me: I haven't ridden Shitmano since before 2004) Bike Yoke Revive dropper. It's been great to deal with Ben from Deviate. I wish the SA distributors of bikes I was looking at, were this keen on doing business. Now for the long wait until July...

My boet's project - a 23 window samba replica with sunroof - will hopefully be drivable in December. His will have aircon, 2 liter air cooled engine with upgraded suspension and disc brakes. my shrink and the kids' play therapist both recommended this arrangement, with some advice on how to make it work. Thanks for all the hub-support! In that sense the lock-down and having to live together after the divorce was settled help. All of a sudden there was nothing to "fight" for and to prove to the other. All focus moved towards the kids. Hopefully we can keep this up. The kids recon its boring at my place compared to their mom's new place... that will too wear off :-)

My ex moved out today. The kids will rotate weekly (starting here by me) and we need to make this work in their best interest. Its going to be interesting juggling work, a grade 2 and grade R until the schools open by hopefully September 2042. The first day went OK.

Was the 1/3 portion a gift from his father? If I remember correctly, the Huweliksgoedere Act specifically exclude gifts from accrual.
