  1. I always thought Stu = Edgar? You guys and your pseudonyms
  2. I don't think Poch has limited options... I do though think there aren't too many better options for him to be in the world right now. I do like Ralph... might well be our back up plan
  3. We very seldom buy the finished article... generally promising young talents that Poch can turn into top players. Frenkie de Jong says he almost joined us last year, but wanted a year more at Ajax... and now Barca have him - we'll not likely pay 65 million for a player anytime soon. Same story with De Ligt... out of our price range now. Players like Declan Rice, Sessegnon, Maddison, Tielemans... they generally fit the bill. Although also largely carrying heavy price tags now. I'm sure we've had another good look through the Ajax team as well for prospects Poch generally knows though what he can work with - hopefully some more gems to be unearthed soon
  4. It's the golden question... I don't actually think Levy has a choice though if he want's to keep this project going. If we don't sign some players and show some proper ambition in the market, we will lose our big players... and Poch might well also say he has taken us as far as we can - that I think would be the biggest loss. We've obviously got a little stadium bill to sort out too... 1billion is a large ugly number, but I think probably half of that is already paid off and we're sitting with a facility of some sorts for the other half. We did make a 'profit' of 140million this last calendar year, so if we can keep those sort of earnings coming in, we could hopefully be burden free within the next decade. We do of course have plenty potential for increasing revenues with the new stadium, but the Spurs project still needs to be viable and we need to keep improving on the field. Player wise I think Eriksen is quite likely on his way out... figures of 140mil being bandied about and not much sign of him signing a fresh deal. He's a replaceable though I reckon, and for that figure, if his hearts not in it, I can live with him going. Liverpool found life after Coutinho, we will to. I am sure playing in our front line is quite an attractive option for players. Toby is the other worry too... we will need another CB soon. Give Poch that Eriksen money and say 60million more and we've got the potential to sign 4/5 hopefully really good players to strengthen the squad. Hopefully we don't lose too many others either... We need a better RB, another CB, two CM's and then possibly an Eriksen replacement. Going to be an interesting few years ahead - hopefully very good ones
  5. I know we've done okay without Kane in the past, but I am also pretty sure it's down to everyone pulling up tree's knowing that he's not in the team... It's not just the goals, it's the hold up play, closing down, link up play... he honestly does it all. His passing this season is just ridiculous. Son is a brilliant player, make no mistake, but he does have his off days and just doesn't influence games as much or as regularly as Kane... Privileged to have them both. Our front four of Kane, Son, Alli and Eriksen is a thing of beauty... I don't think there is a defense in the world that looks forward to playing them.
  6. I hope we play well, if we still lose I can live with that... just don’t want us making life easy for them. Would be great to get a big win first up in the new stadium though.

  8. What a cracking FA Cup tie yesterday between Watford and Wolves... Really wanted Wolves to go to the final, just think they have a far better shout at upsetting City, but you really can't deny Watford such a great comeback. That goal from Deulofeu to get them back in the game will be on highlight reels for some time! He was clearly pretty pissed at being on the bench, but answered in the best way possible. Another serious talent that just doesn't produce regularly enough to make it at a top club
  9. I've had a feeling about this game for some time... I wouldn't be surprised. Just be sure to sub your goalie off in the 85th minute... there appears to be a Liverpool related contagion that strikes quite regularly this season
  10. Doing the Allan Rob 32km on Sunday... building back up towards hopefully qualifying at Wally Lower back getting better, but the running is clearly not it's friend. Got to keep the balance right somehow. Good luck to the guys doing Irene, weather looks great and those two free ultra km's really do make it attractive for a good seeding run.
  11. Money in the bank! I did take a few cheeky accumulator punts on Wolves and Southampton winning... My own little lotto tickets, but far more fun
  12. Yip... also got some nice 3 - 1 odds on the result
  13. Shame, remember when you used to actually be a team that competed for titles and Champions leagues... Now the highlight of the season is getting above us for a moment But Poch said it best: https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11675/10836329/tottenham-fighting-for-more-than-finishing-above-arsenal-says-mauricio-pochettino
  14. And man, we're really in a bun fight for 4th now... play like the second half yesterday though and I won't be too worried. 5 of our last 7 games at home in the new stadium as well... it would be heart breaking to not have Champions league football next year
  15. Lloris not to throw a soft header into our defender and ultimately the net? Jeepers I was flooking at the tv last night... especially after Sissoko's miss as well. Liverpool are not looking like champions, but they keep getting the results - this is the third gaffe from a keeper that has won them a game late on. They might start thinking it's one of those written in the stars scenarios, but they really do need to start playing better or it's going to go wrong eventually
  16. Yip, I'd actually wager he won't make the end of next season... things can unravel really quickly. If they don't get top 4 this year it will already start cranking up the pressure
  17. Liverpool vs Spurs on Sunday... should be a real cracker. Anfield not been great for us the last few years, but the pressure on them and them having to get the win does give Poch some cards to play. If we can get through the first half hour without conceding I reckon we might well even win it, we're a very handy team on the counter attack and also back near to full strength - maybe just a bit light in midfield. I suspect we'll play three center backs with Rose and Trippier at wingback - hopefully getting some good balls in the box for Kane and Alli. And Son as a very hand outlet to get in behind Liverpools backline. Just need to batten down the hatches early on, because they'll no doubt be throwing the kitchen sink at us COYS
  18. I tend to agree... and it's not much to do with him, it's just the way the game is these days. Management is as much about adaptation as it is respect, and much of the respect a manager gets is down to their history and accomplishments as a manager - these buy some managers more time than others. A bit of a buffer for when things go wrong... because they do generally go wrong at some point. When they do, it's up to the manager to get things back on track and quick... sentiment falls away fast. So now, while things are peachy and rosy, Ole is the old golden boy, a throw back to the Fergie days and ways. But if things go wrong or his tactics get found out, or in fixing them he maybe ousts a out of form Pogba, or reverts to a boring dull playing style, or whatever - if the results aren't there, and the product isn't inline with Man Utd expectations, he very quickly becomes the kid with no big team experience, no CV, who's lost the dressing room, who's great start was based just on getting the feel good factor back in a lost dressing room... Hopefully we're wrong, what's not to like about Ole! But history would suggest this likely won't end well... Zidane aside, I can think of very, very few times these fairy tale stories have ended well
  19. Have been struggling with my lower back and hip the last 7 weeks since my marathon disasters - made the trip to a Chiro yesterday (my first visit ever) and it's hard to explain how much better I feel after just one session... my alignment was pretty badly out, but he's managed to get things pretty much back on track... even went for a run yesterday afternoon and was pain free for the first time in ages - what a pleasure. Got a few more sessions lined up just to make sure things stay on track, but hopefully can kick on and do some actual training now. Got a little race to qualify for
  20. That was a nice post he made - must say it really makes you think about all this. He was always a nice guy, pretty much a model pro from my experiences, and much of that I guess was why the whole doping fall was such a hard hit to take for us fans. Also knowing that my company alone had paid him hundreds of thousands in prize money he maybe didn't deserve... we also put him on the cover of Ride Mag a couple times to boost his career and give his sponsors coverage. It leaves a pretty sour taste in the mouth. It's hard to make sense of the whole story, and to work out where the truth in it all lies... was it just a cocaine positive? Was it just a blood transfusion he needed to save his life? Had he just been doping all along and it finally caught up with him? The truth is, very few people actually know for sure. David George's doping positive in the lead up to all this also ensured that public sentiment was always going to be negative and pretty harsh... the fall was hard. Many of his other team mates have also been caught since - it does not look good, and while I want to believe, I also find it hard too. I think the sports history entitles me to as much There is a part of me that want's dopers to rot in hell - I've honestly had enough of it in my 20 yrs in the cycling industry... but part of me also knows full well that they are just ordinary people at the end of the day trying to make their own way in this world. We do all make mistakes, some bigger than others of course... the real challenge always seems to be finding the truth at the end of the day and drawing a line under it all. I view racing largely with a pinch of salt these days... far cry from my earlier days obsessing over it all. Doping positives don't really surprise or upset me anymore... they're just par for the course - that's probably the saddest part. I wish Kevin well on a personal note, but I'm also not sure I'll ever forgive him and the many others for stealing that passion from me. But maybe in hindsight, all they ever stole was an illusion. Til next time
  21. Crazy comeback from the Danes last night... 3 goals in the last 7 minutes to snatch a draw in Switzerland. Lots of fresh young looking international teams out there - England, Germany, France, Italy, Spain... definitely ushering in a new era - I like it!
