  1. Not from here on in...
  2. Not looking as simple as I thought... seems there are tons of people trying to downgrade
  3. Don't run if you're sick - heart rate is usually a very good indicator that your system is under attack from something. If it's high, exercise extreme caution...
  4. Like PSG in the quarters?
  5. City, Liverpool and Barca are the teams I'd like to avoid... hopefully they can take each other out along the line. I'd be happy enough with United, but all the games at this stage should generally be crackers. I really love this Ajax team, hope they do well Looks like we'll be in our new Stadium for this as well - what a night that could be!
  6. Glad the English teams have your respect now that they're at the business end Last 16 Draw I'd love to see Man City vs Juve Liverpool vs Barca Man U vs Ajax Spurs vs Porto
  7. He's an absolute freak... would have loved to have seen him in the Prem
  8. Not interested in downgrading? I'm there for work anyway, so that's what I'm going to try do...
  9. Eish... sorry Hacc Can't remember the name of the Anti-biotics they warn you against exercising on - but I will definitely never take them again. They really stuffed me up. It was more joint, ligament aligned though if I recall. Cramps could well be linked to your illness? Or after effects at least - if you're not getting oxygen efficiently to your muscles the odds of cramp greatly increase I would guess. But I'm no doc Good luck, hope you come right. I'm also missing OMTOM now as I'm in no position to run ODD ultra this weekend. Going to do the sensible thing and stick with 21's for a while and build up a bit more and then hopefully qualify for Comrades etc
  10. Yeah, best to not take any chances anyway... they can still kill you when dead if you mishandle the head. Beautiful, scary as f*ck creatures... luckily they generally want to get as far away from us as possible.
  11. Nice black mamba I'd guess dead, since they're quite shy and won't hang around a road for very long.
  12. Hard guy not to like... wish him well. One of the great man managers I reckon. Not sure he's the greatest coach, but in the right place he can do wonders no doubt. Just ask Leicester
  13. Yip, you can't step up from 5km to 42km... it's hard enough jumping from 21km to a marathon. Unless you've done quite a few half's in the build up.
  14. Option A you'll be fitter, likely leaner and generally a bit healthier I would guess. Option B, the only positive would be your body being better adapted for longer runs.
  15. Must say as frustrating a result as it was, I remembered you were going to the game and figured and at least someone had a huge old smile on their face from the result. We're not finishing off games, it's a huge problem - definitely always seems like we're doing the bare minimum to win games, but it's caught up with us many times... Inter, PSV, Wolves just some typical examples. Football games can just turn too quickly, you always have to push and get that second goal... that mistake from Rose was a shocker, but the free kick was a worthy winner of any game. Glad you guys will be staying up, great club and maybe with such a good manager now the board might actually offer up some support and hold onto some of the great youth products. Spurs certainly in a scrap for 4th now... and Liverpool up next, we could well be out the top 4 after the next round. At least we're moving into our new stadium it seems - will be good to be 'home'
  16. Argust was windy and zero saddle time = sore bum
  17. It's generally an overuse injury... so surely not. I think it might depend on the severity though, you might get away with light running on grass if it's not too bad, but as always - seek professional advice

  19. The Comrades bug really is a funny old thing - I must say I've had a big reality check this last month with things going pretty pear shaped, even by my standards I've always been a bit gung ho with my attitude towards distance running and Comrades - maybe irresponsibly so in some regards, with my passion for the event often over-riding my little remaining rationality. If I've ever led anyone up a dark path, I do apologize - I've learnt this last month that it's not as simple as I sometimes make it out to be and I've been lucky in many regards the last few years that my lack of prep has not come back to bite me in the ass (well, at least not in a more serious way than it regularly does) - in hindsight, I've been pretty lucky to avoid the big issues my lack of proper prep was quite possibly courting. I'm kakking off at the moment though, after back to back horror show marathons, at the finish of Vaal on Sunday, sporting by miles my worst ever marathon time, I was done with running, done with chasing this Comrades dream, and ready to happily offer up my ODD and OMTOM entries to any and everyone. This was no longer fun, I was tired of the pain and suffering, and tired of the disappointment... albeit all rather deserved in many ways. Why would I want to do this all again in two weeks time... how much can honestly change before ODD? Well, two days in running is a long time and I'm back and all aboard the stupid train. Two weeks to ODD and time to get my focus on, get my legs back into some better shape and get on top of all my bio work and core strengthening and hope for all hopes, these few little marginal gains will come together to get me over the line at ODD in a qualifying time for OMTOM and in one piece. Yes I know, send those straight jackets folks... Tat's the thing with this whole journey, it's easy when it goes well, it's when things go pear shaped that you really earn that Comrades medal. Hold thumbs for me, say a little prayer, do whatever it is you do... I'm gonna be out looking for some miracles at ODD
  20. I don't see any logic in this point? You've usually wrapped up your league title months in advance of the final... unlike most of the other teams competing in the latter rounds, Real, Barca, City, Liverpool etc The other advantage you're failing to see is that being the obvious big fish in your league, you get to cherry pick the best talents from the other teams in your league. Just like Bayern and PSG do... so the gap just generally widens
  21. Making the knockouts is a pretty good indicator of strength as it's over a good sample of games... once in the knockouts, as we know, anything can happen and the draw also plays a huge role. 5 English teams in the knock outs last year, four this year... it's not by flook.
  22. I'm of the same view... they'd be in that bun fight for places 3-7 I reckon, quite possibly not even making Champions League. Physical nature and the intensity of every premier league game would catch up with them pretty quickly. Poorest premier league team has similar spending power to that of teams around the Champions League places in Italy, Germany and Spain. With that you get better players and relentless competition - there are no easy games or off days. Look at Fulham yesterday, worst team in the prem by some distance, but still with 5-6 top internationals in their ranks and giving Chelsea a seriously hard time yesterday... Obviously just an opinion, there's no way to really know for sure, but one indicator for me would be the way the prem teams almost always go pretty far in the Champions league... no matter which 4 are in there. And that's with them also being lined up as opponents long in advance as the weaker leagues allow it, with many easier days at the office... you just really struggle to do that in the Prem which is why teams like City have two to players for every position to try make it happen. You could also probably gauge it from how no team has won back to back titles in the last decade - it's just so hard to keep up that intensity no matter how much squad depth you have. Anyways, just opinions
  23. He was obviously talking about Bruce Fordyce, but I can't find those programs either...
  24. Gen, out of interest, where do you reckon Juve would finish in the Prem?
