  1. Just the last 5km... The 5km before that is some of the toughest running around
  2. Yip, will be slow and easy, but just want to get one full marathon in before my Vaal qualifier...
  3. Good to see you Hacc, and glad you're on the up with the running again. Don't worry about the beer (I'm not drinking any alcohol the next few months anyway), but it's one thing our club tent is never short of. I was definitely a little jealous of the guys who are up to marathon distance already, absolutely perfect conditions. Next stop Jeppe Marathon
  4. How'd everyone go at Johnsons? Weather was pretty much perfect and I enjoyed the route tweaks... ran a solid and comfy 1:56 for the half. Part of me kind of wished I was marathon ready in light of the conditions, but hopefully I'll score some good weather at Vaal for my qualifier...
  5. 40km Trail will equate generally to at least 60km road in my limited experience... you will also be doing some proper elevation in the Berg running a distance like that. Such a beautiful part of the world to run in though - enjoy
  6. I think (and am kind of hoping too) that he is a bit 'soft' for the premiership, but let's see... Quality striker no doubt, but like Ozil, Kagawa, Morata etc I feel he might not have the goods - time will tell. (He'll probably score 6 goals on debut at Stoke on a cold winters night)
  7. They must drag it out until at least Friday
  8. Very sad news, always enjoyed his inputs. RIP
  9. Hahaha... I kind of agree. I got my rubber arm twisted and we booked accommodation at the start to take away the logistics at least - hopefully it's a decision I don't end up regretting
  10. I saw that... for a distance specialist, that's ridiculously fast.
  11. If anyone knows an Om die Dam entry going, please let me know. Got a friend desperate for one. Thanks
  12. I would be absolutely thrilled with 83kgs... I think it's just about doable. I was 86kgs two years ago and got lots of chirps about having a slow puncture etc, but 3 more off that would certainly be around my minimum before I'd start having to lose muscle mass. Hard to know what my limit might be until I try I guess Can only imagine how happy my legs would be to take 60/70kgs around a Comrades course over the usual 88/90kgs. I must actually go look at the stats on how each kg adds to the effort on an up run - could be good motivation!
  13. Seriously weird... they seem to have a thing for Spurs cast offs. Paulinho was at least always a pretty gifted player, just not really suited to the prem. KPB... well, he was a good player on his day, but those days were generally about 365 days apart
  14. Looks like a hamstring... hopefully just a light strain, but will always be at least a couple weeks out. Injuries in the English game, largely down to the physical nature and intensity of the games and the season as a whole I reckon. Unrelenting stuff... there is a reason teams really struggle to win back to back seasons. You will also note how often players take a long time to adapt to the league, not a lot of the top top players hit the ground running. Current prime example - Morata... you'd swear he'd come in from the championship, but alas he's a a boy wonder with years of experience at two of the worlds biggest clubs.
  15. I must say I also worry a little, but we're a resilient little squad these days... outside of the obvious worry of a semi final with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge next week, our fixture list is luckily very forgiving - the sort of teams we should be comfortable enough in despatching (largely home games too. If Palace knock us out the FA Cup I also won't shed too many tears. Not too many teams that won't feel some pain losing three world class players like Kane, Son and Alli within a week. On top of an already longish injury list. But we got the job done yesterday and I've got faith we will continue to do so. We're good with our backs against the wall these days... not very Spursy at all. Crucial factor for me will be how the squad is looking for the Dortmund game... if we're back up to 90% by then we can get through for sure. Llorrente will also get better... he can't get worse. He's a quality striker, but I feel he really needs game time to get into the swing of things - he just doesn't get that with Harry ahead of him - unfortunately for him. Going to be an interesting few weeks for sure though
  16. I don't usually mind the heat too much, but the last two months have been a bit brutal. It might also have to do with me being a bit weak and unfit starting up my running again, but I'll get there... like you say, good acclimatization
  17. Anyone else struggling to get out in this heat? When I wanted to head out yesterday evening the real feel was 37... (cue Lexx and his 48 degree runs up North) and on top of that you're already feeling flat from a long day at the office in the heat. Went out early this morning instead, far more civilized - guess mornings are going to be the thing for the next few weeks
  18. Bad days happen... especially when you're still getting into things It was super hot, I seriously regretted wearing two tops (vest and t) - getting your hydration spot on becomes a bit of an art form in this cases. Walking is not the end of the world and a handy tool down the line for the longer stuff... it takes some getting used to though, the stop start nature of run walk is not for everyone. I used to avoid walking like the plague as I struggled to restart, but now days I can happily walk 50 meters, recover pretty nicely and get going again no problem. 2:15 means we must pretty much of finished together - my official time was 2:15, running time 2:12 (took me a little time to get over the start mat) Well done, might well join you and Scott and Colgate
  19. Okay, so the first 12km wasn't the easiest either... fitness might play some part in that, but I almost felt like I was running a different route to the usual out there. Actually had quite a cool run though, took it nice and sensible and my legs are already pretty much fine this morning... Lots of work to do, but feel like I'm slowly learning a little more about this running art each year and how is best for me to approach things... just need to put things into practice and push on Next up Johnsons Crane, just the half for me (old me would definitely have been kakking off in the Marathon, but I've hopefully purged myself of that fool)
  20. He was ridiculous yesterday... on another day it could have been 5-1 to Spurs. That's football though. On a positive note, maybe it will keep United away from Poch. The United goal should also have been saved.... Lloris has been very poor since the world cup Worry about the injury to Kane and (can't believe I am saying this) Sissoko. We are so thin in midfield it is ridiculous, Son is off to the Asian cup for the next three games and Llorrente as he again showed yesterday, is just not up to scratch. Could be a very rough next month or so. But Poch somehow usually makes a plan. God forbid, Levy might even help him out with some signings...
  21. Yeah, first half is fast, then from about 12kms you head up, with it kicking more noticeably around the 14km mark, peaking at 18km odd - last 2-3km is largely fast downhill where the PTS from last years Comrades down run kicks in... This is all from vague memory, but should give you the gist. Enjoy Frosty, this year I've promised myself I will take is very slow and sensibly
  22. Probably similar to the odds on City getting 6 Red cards... Second year in a row City had an easy semi final - like the needed the extra help
  23. Last night was a good thing for Liverpool if you ask me... all their focus should be on the league.
