  1. It's called the Champions League But on a serious note, Wolves slip-up aside, Spurs are doing okay without mega bucks outside assistance? Arsenal got to the top on their own steam... I'd rather do it the right way frankly.
  2. Do I get commission for starting the most viewed thread?
  3. I'm burning calories just at the thought of running
  4. Om die Dam entries are nearly sold out For those that planned to run...
  5. Very lekker night for Spurs... obviously not a full strength Barca side, but we got the result we needed in the end. Had the feeling of 'one of those nights' as we gave away a very soft early goal and missed a host of chances, but in the end the stars aligned. Overall I think we are a lot stronger than Inter, so perhaps a fair reflection on the group... Look forward to seeing who we get in the next round - I don't think we have reason to fear any team, in fact the only team I would like to avoid is City as we seem to have a genuine fear of them. Should be some cracking ties coming out the draw... I guess we will find out Monday
  6. Fomo got the better of me... I've entered for Om die Dam. Have managed to get accom near the start at least to take that stress away. Now I just need to dodge the trucks on the Pelindaba road and I am golden... Oh, and maybe start running again
  7. Spurs need a win at Camp Nou... not impossible, but not terribly likely either unfortunately. With Kane, Son, Alli, Eriksen on the pitch though, you just never know...
  8. I think we have a very unique situation in that for the first time ever... Man United fans are desperate for Manchester City to win the league
  9. Plenty anonymous deeek swinging going on... don't know why we all have to be so aggressive and assertive in our opinions. I'm in the boat that reckons this doesn't belong on the internet, for the simple reason it could quite easily be used as a stick to beat us cyclists again... I really wouldn't want this to pop up on News24. I have though definitely done dumber things in my life... luckily not on the internet. I can also though quite comfortably move on having had my say, and allow people to make their own choices in the end. It is very unlikely to have any effect on my life... and let's be honest, we seldom will change anyones mind on here. I guess the biggest disappointment is how hard we all find it to have such simple conversations, especially since we're all on the same team. Anyways, peace out - safe cycling this festive season
  10. I see Camille Herron smashed the womens world 24hr track record... 262kms in a day Not from this planet!
  11. We all were... thank goodness it didn't all get recorded and uploaded to the internet
  12. Cute story pal... It is illegal what they did. It's stupid and dangerous... let's have a sprint on public roads after a few shooters. If they are supposedly professionals - what kind of crappy example does this set? All these obviously valid points aside, my main point was it's seriously stupid to put this up online... This is not for public consumption and as hinted too by many others, will again be used as a stick to beat us 'lawless cyclists' and justify people driving dangerously in two ton death traps around our very vulnerable selves. I like Willie, I enjoy his updates... but this is not one and should honestly be removed from the internet asap
  13. Serious face palm... idiotic stuff to have online
  14. I must say I was incredibly surprised when Mike pulled out this year... I was as sure of him finishing as I am of the sun coming up most mornings. I know (well, I have at least a pretty damn good idea from several participants personal experiences) how ridiculously tough this event is, but there is nothing new it can really show Mr Woolnough, and now I'm actually pretty certain he left the race as much out of frustration and irritation than anything else... not that he would likely ever admit it being the gentlemen he is. Top 10, heck even top 20 is a massive result for any mere mortal in an event this tough (not to mention just finishing), but we're clearly talking about the sharp end here... Mikes always been right up in the mix despite giving away near on two decades+ to most of his competitors. He's not exactly short of mental strength and his insights and advice from his blogs have done a huge amount for this form of competition. Drafting into a head wind is not a small advantage, it's game changing and I can only imagine the incredible frustration for someone who has painstakingly etched out a small lead solo through bloody minded grit and determination, to then lose it all and several positions to a peloton of riders sharing the burden of taking on challenging conditions. The drafting rule was always there for a reason... Rules are rules, they should be applied to everyone and equally so. This is an individual challenge, man against man (or women) on a savage course under extreme conditions. No interference from outside factors. Everyone must earn that medal and that feeling of accomplishment equally. If you're not up to it, don't enter the "Toughest race on earth" Just like when Gunn Rita pointed out the problem with the fairness of the ladies race at the Cape Epic, I would like to think Mike should also be heard out. I've no doubt Alex will listen and next year the event will clear up any grey areas and ensure we have the toughest and fairest race on earth
  15. I hear you, and I was always a big fan of the race... but it wasn't even just that part. Running down the Pelindaba road in the pissing rain between massive trucks also doesn't sit too high on my list of things to do on a Saturday... quite happy to let them sort out their issues next year without this guinea pig
  16. Yip, scars are still way to fresh from this years shocker... they've shown an inability to learn from the past, so I'm not holding my breath. Lots of great options out there, don't need to chase the bigger named events just for the sake of it
  17. Typical Arsenal... dropping easy points at the weaker teams Normality restored in North London
  18. Lets look at the usual relegation scrap specialists... Allardyce, Pulis, Hodgson, Redknapp None really fit in with the Southampton ethos though.
  19. They must get Emery from Arsenal... throw silly money at him, do whatever it takes
  20. Must say you guys looked sharp... we were definitely a bit flat, but that doesn't take anything away from your performance. Best one I have seen from an Arsenal team in some time. #BringBackWenger
  21. Martin Bain Venn is an option... he's a lot smaller these days, but I would guess still a comfy 95kgs odd. He got a top 20 last year, tough stubborn bugger
  22. Was flicking between it and the Bok game... found myself watching 90% of the Spurs game. We played really nicely, and we're still nowhere near full strength. It was however the first time Kane, Eriksen, Alli and Son played together this year which is always a thing of beauty. We could of had 6 quite easily... Chelsea also should have had a penalty before our second, so you take the decisions when they go your way.
  23. Just when I thought I would manage to avoid the Black Friday hype... got to take advantage of those squash racquet deals
  24. Legendary stuff Barry! And thanks for the write up
