  1. Gotta love his blogs... really hoping by some miracle he can sneak a win one day. Age not on his side, but he's definitely one of those 'age is just a number' guys...
  2. After last year I can’t see there being huge demand
  3. Entry portal open again... I'm not sure they know what is cooking. All the duplicate attempts maybe confusing the system a little
  4. If their system worked properly it probably would have been sold out by midday... Just glad I got in, but I think there are going to be some very sad pandas who have missed out.. Lottery system no doubt for next year
  5. Music concerts of 80 000 sell out in less time... they don't really have a leg to stand on. Especially after the registration debacle last year... they should have been ready. And if they can't get it right, stagger the entries in some way to help alleviate the stress on the system. People don't have hours to waste doing something that should take a minute
  6. Day made
  7. What a dog show... finally got my entry in now. Only 5hours later... still can't get the payment through, but will sort that out tomorrow. That 21km entry is going to be a complete disaster They should honestly not advertise the entries opening, or do it at midnight or something because they clearly don't have too much interest in upping the capacity of the system
  8. It's crazy... you'd think they would learn.
  9. Anyone know what time the Two Oceans entries open today?
  10. And they almost look like normal human beings... Huge respect, crazy tough and athletic bunch
  11. I see Comrades have set the substitution cost at R300... sending a pretty clear message there
  12. Shot for the insights guys, really adds to the interest
  13. Rode the Cycle Lab test Ebikes at the 94.7 Mtb expo yesterday... they're coming folks, like it or not. They will definitely get more people out on the trails... And luckily we all ride for our own personal reasons, so what others do will fortunately not detract from the great pleasure we all already enjoy pedaling our bikes
  14. Totally nuts... crazy hard guys and girls doing this.
  15. Ah Gen... shem shem
  16. Agreed... but to clarify, a knobhead who would totally be laughing his ass off while picking off your KOM's
  17. I'm gonna get an eBike just to piss off Patches and steal all his KOM's
  18. Ja, sure thing... almost thought this was the Ebike appreciation thread for a second there. Check the comment two posts after yours if you really still don't pick up the vibe. All I posted was two very clear and simple examples as to why they are actually pretty cool things. Nothing more, nothing less. Use it, don't use it
  19. Our company CEO recently converted to an E-bike... he's well into his 70's now, has had a spinal fusion, hip replacement, needs to be very careful with his heart (arrhythmia/beta blockers etc), and his E-bike has greatly re-invigorated his love for riding. This is not a lazy man, this is someone who has done little challenges like Paris Brest Paris... He's also still got more energy than most people half his age, but his body has just caught up with him over time. What the E-bike does allow... is him to go riding with his Son and Grandson on their tandem. He doesn't now have the 'joy' of his beta-blockers kicking in on the climbs and everyone having to wait minutes for him at the top of each rise. He rides more often, rides further and feels better for it... he is getting fitter believe it or not. Also read Ali Mcleans post about her new E-bike the other day - she now goes riding with her husband regularly - he gets his serious training in, she gets her training in, more time on the bike in the beautiful outdoors, and they get great quality time together... Horrible things these E-bikes
  20. There's a joke from Comrades... the up run limp lasts two days, the down run limp a week. Downhill is helluva hard on the legs, especially gooing it like you did. Recovery walk to get rid of the lactic or even a bike ride will be great. Recovering properly is important
  21. Nope, it will come in handy... I have no doubt of that. This isn't really treadmill weather though And I'm not running for another 3-4 weeks still. Need to get this calf fixed once and for all.
  22. Yes, just keep running and slowly upping the mileage. Aim for a marathon a month before just as a lot proper gauge. But certainly doable. Second question - I'd also like to know the answer... I find for long comfy runs I find the treadmill way easier and the mileage relative to the road for the time would suggest a similar thing. But when I do speed efforts the treadmill seems way out in terms of effort... but maybe that's just the nature of the type of training session. I haven't done much in the way of hills yet.
  23. I'll be doing OMTOM and Loskop next year I reckon... over ODD and their poor planning. As for the bold bit, only one small difference... Comrades it hurts for 30/40km, Kaapsehoop it's just 5/8km
