  2. The easiest surefire way is to add a few layers of insulation tape over the rim tape until the tire fits quite snug on the rim before you try to inflate it. Obviously you need to make a hole through the insulation tape over the valve hole.

  5. Yup, that is the way to do it. This method has never let me down - and then if you change to a different tyre that is difficult to get on you can just remove a few layers of the insulation tape it will go on much easier.   10. I must say that is one of the things I like about my S4, it uses the gps satellite constellation as well as the Russian GLONASS satellite navigation constellation, thus giving better accuracy especially in built up and forested areas as well as quicker lock on times.
  11. I can fully agree with you on that one! I once un bolted all the seats from my car and washed them with a pressure cleaner.
  12. Some people are prone to getting an extremely severe itch from bad sunburn on their backs like this. I know cos I am one of them! It usually starts about 24 to 36 hours after the burn and eventually becomes so intense that you start losing your mind. Any kind of creams/ lotions actually make it worse. It gets to the point where you become absolutely useless for anything except trying to relieve the itch. I found the only thing that works is a piping hot shower (no soap) and the relief is probably something like heroin to a deprived junkie! Problem is though that once you get out the shower the itch comes back. It is worst on skin that is lily white and doesn't see the sun enough to get a bit of a tan - somewhat like a cyclists paper white torso! I read on some internet forums where some women were discussing this and they all agreed that it is worse/ more painful than childbirth. ( I obviously can't comment on that but that's what they said!) I hope for his sake he is not one who gets this.
  13. You can use thinners. I know from past experiments that it does remove sealant but if your gloves have any glued-on pieces they might just come adrift as well. It's worth a shot though if you were going to bin them anyway.
  14. I once removed the core to top up the sealant in my back wheel and then when I replaced it I forgot to tighten the core with a tool - it was just finger tight. Anyway, I inflated the wheel and then screwed the valve cap on nice and tight. Next morning go for a ride and get e large puncture that wouldn't seal and needed a plug. All fine except when I tried to re-inflate with a bomb I tried to remove the valve cap but because I had screwed the cap on tighter than the core no matter how I tried, everytime I tried to unscrew the cap, the core came out with it! Of course my bomb adaptor would not fit onto the stem without the core so I had to chew the valve cap off from the core, chipping my tooth in the process so that I could put the core back in, re-inflate and proceed on my merry way. Moral of the story, make sure you tighten the core properly before putting the valve cap back on!

I guess I'm spoilt since I live in Howick and my first ever experience of single track was Howick/ Karkloof when I first started riding MTB 2 years ago and whenever I rode with people from out of town I couldn't understand why they would rave so much about the trails until I started riding in other areas and then I realised how incredibly awesome they are! I used to think that this what all trail networks were like!

I always find that when I ride on the road in the daytime with my flashing LED light, cars always stop and wait for me if they are wanting to turn in front of me thinking that I am going much faster then I actually am. This leaves me feeling a bit dof as I am often riding quite slowly like at the end of a long ride and then they end up waiting and waiting and waiting for me to cross the road they want to turn into! I suppose at the end of the day it means that we both got through the incident safely. I always make sure though that I wave and show my appreciation for them having waited for me.
  20. They might as well just make it solid rubber and then at least you wouldn't need to worry about getting a blow out on the first 1cm deep pothole you hit!
  21. I have found that building up the rim with a few layers of electrical tape works incredibly well. Basically if you fit the tyre onto the rim and you can rotate it on the rim with little to no effort then you are going to have a tough time getting it to seat. You need to add a few layers of insulation tape (over the yellow rim tape) and then fit the tyre and check how easily you can rotate it on the rim. Keep on adding layers until the tyre is pretty snug and requires a fair bit of effort to rotate it on the rim, cut a hole for the valve core through the tape, insert the valve. Then soap away and pump. Once it has seated and is holding pressure then remove the valve core while the wheel is hanging up and inject sealant with a syringe that you can pick up for a couple of bucks from the farmers co-op, re-inflate wheel, hold finger over valve stem, insert valve and there you go. Works every time. I have fitted wire bead tyres onto not tubeless rims this way and it has always been successful (and the sealant doesn't seem to affect the insulation tape even after a prolonged period of time)
