  1. to start with a buddy. to decided before hand what you want to achieve and investigate the amount af time/effort it will take. not to race every weekend. you dont need litres of fluid for one day races upto about 2h weight counts (and light wheels) no place to hide in mtb kill yourself at least once a week in training fix your own bike/gear
  2. price/gram - good wheels!
  3. no, to much front would probably send him over the burrybars i just looked a couple of times at that clip to try and see what set him apart... his rear wheel locking and releasing was intersting.
  4. schurter riding a bike with about 1.5kg less weight. that is quite a bit. forgot what i wanted to add.. interesting when you watch the clip how schurter takes the left line and how he controls the momentum with the back brake - amazing skill
  5. him and "goelion" must have cheated....
  6. Hi - I used a XT Hollowtec II and Travativ Noir crank in the past. The Shimano blades were far more surperior to the Travativ. All being equal I would go as far to say you can get 2 to 3 times the live out of the Shimano. The Noir blades are lighter and much cheaper last time I checked. Dont know about SLX. XT cassette is lighter than SRAM - not sure about durability - to me it was much of a muchness. Used SRAM most of the time. Chain, dont bother with XTR. My experience
  7. i know you wont - old hand on the hub. but some newish guys (or gheys) may get a bit "excited" by our comments
  8. both are established brands - you really have to take them both for a spin and decide then. obviously there is the "cool" factor. The "rule of invisible thumb" states. Get the one that look and feel the fastest maybe post the specs of both
