  1. Hello Hairy, fancy meeting you here. You still in for OV24?
  2. Anyone got a sizing chart for these bikes....what sort of height range would a Large cater for?
  3. Here he is a couple of months back....the scoot bike is his most loved and prized posession (after his tonka toy digger loader of course....), I sometimes cringe when i see how fast he shunts on it.
  4. Someone had one of these at SSWC and they had cable tied wooden "platforms" onto the pedal, crank and chainstay to form footrests for the kid on the back. I've found with mine that my son doesn't keep his pedals level on singletrack so if you're not careful you sometimes connect rocks / roots etc...you have to keep reminding yourself to take it easy and turn wide. I guess it's not designed for singletrack but it does the job! Alex just turned three, he is quite tall and he is able to pedal though he usually just parks off and makes you do the work. These were taken on Eselfontein farm this weekend.
  5. Very nice....I'd be tempted to pull those stickers of the fork though - stealth mode. Must be nice and light now! How's the other project coming along?
  6. Yours sounds like a Nigerian 419 scam.
  7. Nope I've known Murray for years, he's a good man to get on board. Yo Murray sharpen up on the grammar ek se!
  8. Chief reporter of the Cape Argus. Here's an opportunity to get someone on board publicising issues re bike paths, thefts, bikejacking, commuting or whatever else theHub spends their days moaning about and you respond like this? Nice.
  9. He looks like the janitor from "Scrubs"
  10. There's nothing wrong with these forks....you have a bit of to and fro flex under front wheel braking but that also helps with absorbing vibration / corrugations. The particular fork in the picture was on my On One when I got it from the UK (off ebay)....I sold it to someone who did 2 Freedom challenges on it and bought it back from him a year later and they look NONE the worse for wear.
  11. That looks exactly like the On One Carbon fork...same manufacturers no doubt.
  12. Awesome and welcome to the good times! Drive safe mate, see you for a ride sometime.
  13. ipcentrx - were you robbed or was it stolen? I ride in that area on a regular basis and would appreciate it if you could let me know if there is / was a danger hotspot to avoid. I'll send this post on to a mate that has a bikeshop there and ask them to distribute and keep a lookout. Cheers,

  15. 24 x 16!?
  16. What about driving to work, cycling home in the afternoon, cycle back in the morning, drive home in the afternoon etc....once a day is a lot easier to stomach than twice if you want it to be sustainable.
  17. Would love to hear some more about this....all gravel? Distances / Route / Accommodation? Is it possible to take the train to Matjies with your bikes and ride back?
  18. Did it with a few friends a couple of years back. The first 130 or so KM's of the Kloof is easy riding with a couple of passes closer to Patensie....check out the threads on the Trans-Baviaans for profiles etc. There are some awesome self-catering type places (as well as camping) both in the Kloof as well as Patensie...plenty of info available on the net. IMO it would be a bit of a waste to do it in two days though, it really is an amazing area and deserves a bit more time.
  19. Around 6H15 from Steynsrust usually leaves plenty of time, I only do it when the mood strikes and work / activities allow but we should try and hook up some time for a ride in. Maybe do a regular Wed or Fri ride in or something.
  20. The Wannabee's have been very active on getting land access in the area, the trails at the waterworks is an extension of the trail on the Western side of the R44 AKA Helderberg Cycle Route. I use the Western side on a regular basis commuting to work...no better way to start the day! Patensie what time do you leave SSW? I usually leave Steynsrust 6H15 and it gives me plenty of time but I R44 it as far as the Eikendal Road.
  21. The markers are marginally easier to follow from the SSW / Longridge side. https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/108079-helderberg-mtb-route/page__hl__helderberg__fromsearch__1 Any of you guys (other than Bergbok...) commute on a regular basis between SSW and Stellies? It might be nice to get a posse to commute to work offroad in a roundabout way once a week or so.
  22. Bergbok ons ry min of meer dieselfde roete maar ek kom van Technopark af...ons moet bietjie connect en saam ry. Hoe laat ry jy in die oggende uit SSW?
  23. What time do you ride? I try and follow that route from Eikendal Road to Stellies, then around the back of the Blaauwklippen Road and down to Technopark via the vineyards when I can....picked up some pooh splatter on my bottle this AM which wasn't great but otherwise ALWAYS an awesome way to start the day!
  24. What kind of 29er FS are you riding? Might just be a bit of a donkey in comparison in terms of weight and efficiency. I find my hardtail SS is 100x more efficient than my dually and there's no sitting back and spinning out a hill at a mellow pace...it's all or nothing when you get out the saddle.
