Hey All, We're toying with the idea of touring by MTB from the King Shaka airport via the Midlands Meander ending up at SSWC 2012 in Winterton in September this year, taking around 4 days to get there depending on the breweries along the way. We'd like to stick to gravel and back road tar if need be. From the air it always looks like a myriad of trails zigzagging all over the show as far as the eye can see....I was wondering if anyone had any ideas or advice on a route for a fun and scenic laid back tour either camping or staying in backpackers etc along the way. Advice would be appreciated, Cheers.

You can but why would you? Unless you already have the loose hubs of course. If they are complete I would sell the 29er wheels and pick up a new set or slightly used of 26" wheels....there are plenty of good 26er deals to be had at the moment. Edge Design has quite a few for sale at the mo.

Reality is that it'll be a lot cheaper and easier for the European riders to get to Italy than Winterton so it'll def affect the numbers.

I think the problem is your wheels, I would recommend selling them (to me...) Other than the gearing...how does she go?

I have a set of disc brake wheels with rotors I'm not using if you decide to take the plunge. Personally I don't thing the "upgrade" from Trek frame to Talon will be worth your while, you may be better off selling and replacing the entire bike if you are itching for a change.

Why don't you post a picture and let US be the judges?

With their love of going over the top I am sure when they say voluminous casing it'll be halfway balloon...looking forward to seeing some of these.

Hairy the bike looks great! I am a fan of all black but the white sadddle etc actually works really well on that bike. Hope Rommel serves you well and that she keeps bike itch at bay....for a while at least.

They had an Elsworth Evolve 29er dually DEMO there on Monday which had me drewling badly so ya, they still do demo's. I'm struggling to forget that particular sample as it was oh so beautiful.

OK I wasn't going to post this on the hub as I'm not proud of it and it certainly isn't something to brag about or show off but if enough people feel seeing a picture of the price of running your tires too flat I'll put it up...who is in?

Have had it happen with a proper Kenda UST tire on a proper tubeless rim....pumped it up quite hard after topping up with Stans...left it in the back of my bakkie in the sun under a black tonneau cover...pressure + heat = BOOOOOMMMM!!!!! After that the beading was ruined and I had to chuck the tire away. Replaced it with a non UST WTB Exiwolf on the same Tubeless rim....Following a recent mishap with a tire burping landing on the flats after a jump causing a serious wipe-out I think I'm going to be running proper UST exclusively going forward. Though I may have been riding them a bit too pap.....my fault I guess.
