  1. 4g per teaspoon sounds a like lot of carbs to me?
  2. Maxxis Cross mark. Pretty tough.
  3. Sorry if it is a stupid question, but will paint stripper do something to the bonding?
  4. Anybody know anything about the Japanese frame Sakae Litage. I think it is from around 1990.
  5. I have this old aluminium bike (1990'ish I think). It is a Sakae Litage made in Japan. The craftsmanship on this frame is something to behold. There are no welds, lugs (correct term?) used at the joints. It has the old 9 speed shimano 105 groupset. Although it has STI's I am not sure it is original. It looks as if it was originally equipped with the downtube shifter levers? I am thinking of converting to singlespeed. 1. Does any of you know anything about this frame? 2. Worth anything as a collectable? 3. Are the lug joints only press fitted, or are there some kind of glue used? 4. It has a clear lacquer finish, will Removall from Plascon be the sripper of choice? 5.Will the paint stripper affect the integrity of the joints?
  6. Just a wild guess: Avid brakes?
  7. Kan jy 'n trekker ry? Deesdae se trekkers het GPS auto track, windows rekenaar, climate control, bluetooth, stereo en yskas. So werksomstandighede is nie te sleg nie! Alle sterkte, ons dink aan jou!
  8. Organic virgin coconut oil.
  9. Fast fuel had a range of energy bars that was based on real dried fruit. I used to like them a lot, not overly sweet and easy to chow down. Not sure if you get them anymore. Tasty nutritious alternative to energy bars is dates. Fresh if you can get them or the processed compressed type at the supermarket.
  10. It is just amazing how cycling, or any form of quality cardio workout can pick your mood up. I have been off the bike for 6 weeks recently due to an overuse injury of the hamstring attachment to the sitting bone. (I could not sit on the saddle without pain). During this time problems on the farm due to the drought, and personal problems with relatives seemed like a huge mountain in front of me. Since I started peddling again everything seems much rosier. Nothing changed ITO my financial or personal problems, but somehow I gained perspective. Without regular cardio I will often go into a deep downward emotional spiral. What's more I have often returned home after a ride with a solution to a problem that have been bugging me for days. I find my cycling to be a huge help ITO problem solving and stress relieving.
  11. Thread has gone kind of quiet the last few weeks. Winter or htone's absence?
  12. +1Change chain before it lengthens by 0.5%.
  13. +1See he checked in briefly on 18 June. Hope every thing is well mate?
  14. Toe against the front tyre.
  15. How does that song go? "You took the words right out of my mouth..."
  16. No.To much protein would be converted in the liver to glucose which would lead to insulin spike and so negating all the positive of low carb eating. You have to replace the energy that you consumed in the form of carbs previously and this is accomplished by increased good fat consumption. Gluconeogenesis From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Not to be confused with Glycogenesis or Glyceroneogenesis. Gluconeogenesis (abbreviated GNG) is a metabolic pathway that results in the generation of glucose from non-carbohydrate carbon substrates such as pyruvate, lactate, glycerol, glucogenic amino acids, and odd-chain fatty acid.
  17. "Sien julle iets?" "Nee hier's f@kkol."
  18. Lot of thumb sucking done in this list. No way that a newspaper, cardboard and paper bag will disintegrate in less than a year. Once spoke to a farm owner at Rooiberg who told me that some of the worst "natural" garbage is citrus peels. Apparently takes more than 2 years to disintegrate and is unsightly next to a cycling or walking trail. I do agree with other hubbers though that a banana peel is most probably the least of our worries. Lets first try to educate fellow MTB'ers about the obvious, like goo wrappers and tubes. The culprits are most often the wannabee racers competing for 20th or 30th spot that pollute the trails. What these guys don't take into account is that it takes just one farm owner to strip his moer and deny access, and that could mean the end of a beautiful race or trail.
  19. How long is "adequate"? Like any thing else on the web the one with the fastest fingers wins IMHO. I agree wit Mr ST's reply.
  20. If you put something in your shopping cart and don't pay for it immediately you can not expect CWC, or any other online shop, to keep it for you for ever. Especially if there is a sale on that item. First come first serve. Only after you have paid for it you have the right to call it yours.
  21. I wonder what Heyneke Meyer thinks but we were not good at the breakdowns. Where is Heinrich Brüssow Heyneke?
  22. Exactly! What someone is willing to pay. If you see an ad with an overpriced tag (according to you I might add), but you are interested, make the guy an offer, if you are not interested move on and don't let it bother you. The price of any product is determined in the market place, not in someone's head or in his ad. You need two parties: a willing buyer and a willing seller for a price to form. What someone wants for his products is not the price. We are human, we all want as much as possible, but that is not the price. Supply and demand plays a huge roll in determining the price of a product. If what you have for sale is very scarce you might even ask (and get) more than the suggested retail price. Some people can't wait! If they want something now they are willing to pay. The price is only determined once the sale took place. Economics 101! GAL! Live is to short to drink cheap wine and to be bothered by overly optimistic price tags!
  23. It is called a 69er. The idea is not new at all, I saw them for the first time 2008. The logic behind the concept was to capture the best of both worlds; 29'' up front to roll over trail obstacles better and 26" at the back for better handling. Somehow the idea never took off.... I must say it is one ugly beast.http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/bikes/mountain/product/review-trek-69er-3x9-09-32742
  24. Brilliant especially the screwdriver bolt bit! Now why didn't I think of that! Thanks Dudes.
