  1. On the left: My youngest son's XS RTScarbon. A beauty!!!. He would looooooove the #Darkhorse wheels. REALLY REALLY. He is u/12 and will make these wheels look seriously cool both on the road and in the street. He can only use the deep sections legally (CSA rule) from u/16 On the right: My newest weapon of choice for 70.3, Afriman and GlobalXI. I dont need the #Darkhorse wheels. I am too old. I will not make it look so cool. But for my son I would do anything, including riding these wheels until he is u/16
  2. My son Eric's road bike. Eric is in hospital tonight (thats why i could put his bike in the bath). He broke his wrist today. He fell of his MTB at Wolwespruit. Not too serious. He will go into theatre tomorrow morning for some magic and a cast. And off the bike for 6 weeks. Eric was awarded Gauteng North merit colours for track, road and TT last year. He neeeeeds these #Darkhorse wheels as he will be u/16 next year and CSA rules allows deep section wheels from u/16. Pleeeeaaase #Darkhorse
  3. Front derailleur question: Bought a new frame and want to build my old Raleigh onto it. I see that it has a direct mount for the front derailleur while my old bike has a clamp mounted Tiagra derailleur. Any advice? Do I buy a direct mount derailleur? Cant seem to find a Tiagra online, can I use a 105/Ultegra? Thanks

The UCI is particularly grateful for your work as a Chief Commissaire, Springboks team manager and President of the South African Cycling Federation. On behalf of the UCI, please accept my sincere thanks and congratulations on this thoroughly well deserved recognition. It would be a tremendous honour for me to present you with this fitting award at the 2015 UCI Congress in Richmond, United States on and I very much hope to see you on Friday 25th September.
  5. Best performance by a South African cyclist in Europe to date?
  6. Oeg saw a horrible thing at the Bundu Bash this weekend. Dad had his duaghter on a yellow seat thingy on his bike, sitting behind the handlebars all snug and looking forward to the 20km when her foot went between the fork and wheel - she screamed like hell. Not nice. Sho!!! but saw them finish and she looked OK
  7. Got the mount section as part of a damaged 2 bike rack seconds hand
  8. I built this for under R2k from spares I bought mostrly from Thule themselves.
  9. Is Dylan the next big SA name in international cycling?
  10. Valid point, but team selections were done waaaay before the finding. Who is the SA road champ? Can we put a representative mens road team up? Why put a ladies team up (you dont go to CW Games for 'experience') when you have top mens riders available for their country? Criteria for quotas? Ladies get out of jail free. Just my 2c's
  11. Quotas bru
  12. Well guess why SA did not have a mens team in the road race of the Commonwealth Games.....
  13. Thanks. Just thought they might be closeby this venue.
  14. Excellent news Where is Tool-up cycles?
  15. Problem was the pace imo. Much too fast for what was supposed to be a 'ride'. The Rangers had their hands full keeping the long string of riders safe... Did enjoy most of it though. Thanks and big up to the organizers and the Road Rangers.
  16. http://www.gizmag.com/south-pole-fat-trike/30245/ Shortly before Christmas, we heard about 35 year-old British adventurer Maria Leijerstam's planned attempt to ride to the South Pole on a recumbent fat-tired tricycle. On December 27th at 1am GMT, she achieved that goal, becoming the first person to ever successfully cycle from the edge of the Antarctic continent to the Pole. http://images.gizmag.com/gallery_tn/southpolefattrike-0.jpg http://images.gizmag.com/gallery_tn/southpolefattrike-2.jpg http://images.gizmag.com/gallery_tn/southpolefattrike-3.jpg Leijerstam used a modified version of the commercially-available Sprint trike, made by recumbent tricycle manufacturer Inspired Cycle Engineering (ICE). She chose to go with a recumbent trike because it would allow her to maintain stability in the often very-high winds. This allowed her to concentrate simply on moving forward, instead of having to waste time and effort keeping her balance. The strategy paid off, as she not only made it, but also beat two other cyclists who had set out for the Pole on two-wheelers, days before her Dec. 17th start date. Her victory wasn't just due to the fact that she could move faster, but also because the stability of her trike allowed her to take a different route that was shorter but technically more challenging. That "shorter" route was nonetheless approximately 400 miles (644 km) long, stretching from the edge of the Ross Ice Shelf, up over Leverett Glacier, and onward to the South Pole.
  17. 18:30? Want to be there with the kids again...a year later Can we ride without lights?
  18. Best money ever spent. And they last! I put 2 boys through the JD, they were riding BMX @ 5 years old. Now 8 and 10 years and on 24"ers just about to go onto small 26"ers Still got the whole fleet in the garage, very cool. Excellent Xmas gift for the grandchildren!
  19. Think ito economics. 500 entries @ R720 or 1000 @ R360? If they can fill 500 entries (which they will, its an awesome race) they made their money and less work, less food, less T-shirts, less everything. Think 'Epic'...
  20. Bit like wave technology, similar to the way you harness the power from ocean waves.
  21. If memory serves then the original (yeah, the stolen one) Satelite race also ended with a 90 degree turn into the station? Ask Malcolm and the other old(er) guys if this was ever a problem.
  22. Weatherproof Wireless Portable Speaker Part Number: BTBTLG $139.99 ku#zzz0265BTBTLGYJPN Out of stock
  23. Saw (and heard) a chap in the Jacaranda Sateliite BM group with one of these on his bike (very anoying to listen to someone else's music, I know). But excellent idea for a kid. Any idea where Ican get one?
  24. Our 1st ever DNF on the tandem. Punctured @ 32km then busted our spare tube. Got 5 (yes, five) tubes and bombs from passing cyclists - thanksguys. Turns out 23C's burst in a 28C tyre - lesson learned. Big up for the Road Ranger medic picking us up in his bakkie - not a sweep vehicle! So we end up spending the rest of the morning with Johan and the bikers assisting stranded tailenders and cramping optimiststs. Saw the weirdes stuff. One lady's shoelace got stuck in her chainand she drove into a thornbush!!!! And Rennies is the solution to cramps - its final. So we did not spend time @ waterpoints or the finish, but had a true and unique adventure. Will need to be back next year.... Thanks Road Rangers!
