  1. This will be a Strava only event? Anyone interested in doing this on the actual route on Rouvy? We will be doing it on Rouvy starting Friday afternoon. There will be an event created.
  2. Advice please We did the C2T ride this weekend. Loaded the course. Created the race. And a few people joined. Not everyone had smart trainers so some joined 'virtually' and we managed to somehow ride 'together'. Planning the 36one next. What would be the best way to do this 'together'? - Create a race and see each others progress - Create a route and ride it as a training ride then we dont see each other on the course What id we decide to do it in 2 stages of 180 km over two days, will Rouvy allow us to pause the ride halfway and continue the next day? Any advise will be cool
  3. Its more of a challenge Over any platform. So there is a huge Zwift group but they dont have the C2T route as far as I know. I wanted to create a route and used Rouvy it was easy. So a few has already joined (link above) the Rouvy 'race' Many riders will only ride it on a basic IDT.

  5. So we riding the Cullinan2Tonteldoos this afternoon. Any joiners? https://my.rouvy.com/onlinerace/live/21363 Created route last night and tested this morning works fine.
  6. I had a look at my sons Strava he was in the top 10. Racetime 2:08 Two stops of 3:12 and 4min where his gps autopaused. That gives a total time start to finish of around 2:15 The loop the elites missed incl TomJenkins was around 6kms and it took me 16 minutes. Them maybe 10 minutes? That gives me a total of around 2:25 Remmeber elites were stopped for 2 reasons. One being that they are not racing they were cruising in protest. Hence the slow time. Fastest non-elite time is Adolf Krige winnong VA in 2:18 So 2:25 looks to me realistic. Seeding should be calculated accordingly. Now who do we take this up with?
  7. You make a good point - seeing as this was a CTCT seeding race..... we are all screwed. Will it be corrected?
  8. Remember elites missed Tom Jenkins, probably 5km shorter distance. But not all of them only the lead bunch. Did Racetec correct it? Cant see how
  9. 17x32 and I run out of cadence very quickly. Thinking 16x32 might be more ideal. Even 15x32 but dont seem to be able to source a 15T. Any advice?
  10. Help please Why do I get this message when logging in on my PC for the past week: 500 ErrorSorry, but an error has occurred. Our technical team is probably already hard at work trying to fix this problem, so please try again later.
  11. What a great event once again but........... I noted at least 4 major features removed this year including the floating bridge. That was very very disappointing convincing my 15 years old to ride 52 kms then no bridge. Probably due to declining entries. Its a fine balance.... enter next year?
  12. Sad news At around 15:00 today 3 July at around the halfway point 2 perps jumped at 2 youngsters. The boys shouted. One perp ran away one tried to catch the boys armed with a knife Fortunately it was junior youngsters on road bikes. They outsprinted the perp. 1km down the road they saw a SAPS vehicle and reported it to him. He sped down the road. They reported it to the guard at the top gate and left. Very rattled. These are young boys 17 years old. They were really rattled and scared. Keep an eye out still not 100% at Klapperkop
  13. Asking for some advice on the fitness test on the treadmill. I was asked to walk at some predetermined pace for 5 min then the bio took my HR and that was it Scored 4/5 Queried it with Vitality they pass me back to the bio and again and again. What is the treadmill protocol please?
  14. Thanks for the routes. Did a few 2 weeks ago during the Lekkerland Fees. Going back to Pta we decided to ride via Korfnek back to Belfast, got a bit lost but found the R33 climb just before Belfast. What a beast! 4.3km @ 7% took me almost 30 minutes!!!!!
  15. Looking for a 120mm 29er fork with thru axle if anyone has one lying around for a reasonable price.... Ja I know this is not the classifieds but if I have the fork I can show my Pyga. Smiling.
  16. Great event once again thanks Mr Frosty!
  17. Sent them several messages weeks ago on categories for racing youths..... no reply
  18. Or someone taking bikes down. Tow the trailer with a bus! Take me AND my bike down! Pleaaaase. Given that you are charging R1000 per bike and making a profit, imagine if you could sell 10 seats as well at no real additional cost.
  19. Zwartkops is used for criterium races organised by BSSS Club on a regular basis. Not the main track, the old part of the original track around the drive-in side. Keep an eye out for the next one.
  20. Just saw this: As part of objective 2, we will be offering a R100 discount for all riders aged 19 years and younger (as of 31 December 2018). This forms part of the Germiston Wheelers Cycle Club initiative to fund the development of cyclists. Wow, great initiative, specially for families entering.
  21. I am of the opinion 1X for road bikes will be the next big thing! And a clever solution for restricted gears
  22. https://www.cyclingsa.com/s/20180108_Restrictions-for-youth-riders.pdf Excellent observation! A typical JUNIOR casette you buy from Shimano is a 14T 10 or 11 spd. So you dont have to buy the 16T cassette (hens tooth) or built one. So you will be rolling 1mm too long - this would not be observeable by the officials - the line they draw in the sand is thicker than that. Now where to get a 46T chainring....
  23. Yes it works - you might end up having just 7 gears (removing 11-12-14). At some races (not at the bigger ones) the commissaires will allow you to simple block the bottom gears by using the limiting screws. This should be encouraged for newbies en development riders specially on borrowed bikes. IMO
  24. You can buy those clusters new and they are regularly for sale on the Hub. I have 2 sons which I have taken from u10 up to u16 now. I have found it best to start building your own clusters if you are going to continuously be chaning age groups. So use the attached spreadsheet to determine which works best. General consensus for u16 is 52-16. Nowaday 52T chainrings are quite rare but you do find them (ecept SRAM). So to build 10 speed cassette you might need some spare cassette or 2 which you will disasseble and built rations from top (28/25) al the way in meaningful steps to end with a 16T. Easy peazy. Built 5 in Jan for SA champs myself. and it does not cost a fortune to achieve. 46-14 will not roll in for u16 - it will be junior. All the best and enjoy building gears and getting youngsters on bikes Gearrestrictions.pdf
  25. Anyone submitted a query on the seeding (through the Racetec site) and received a reply yet?
