  1. Well done to them. We managed a 12:27. Was hoping for a sub 12 but 1 rider's derailleur was damaged on the corrigated section and he only had a couple of gears in the middle of his cassette and his chain then kept on dropping on the downhills. Nevertheless we accepted the setback and nursed him home. The Rolling start definitely made the first 100km more difficult without bunches and neverender is worse during the daylight. The mudfest on the single track at the end is really unnecessary but all in all a great event. Will be back for my 4th
  2. We will be leaving for Willomore tomorrow morning. Good luck everyone
  3. No no no please no...you need to be delicate with carbon cranks. All you need is a proper hammer en beitel with a soft touch.
  4. Seems it is a go for this event. Any weather predictions from the people in that area? Long term shows rain and strong winds
  5. We will be chasing the sunset
  6. I have never had any problems buying on the hub. If I am really interested in something I phone the seller , ask relevant questions/ negotiate the price and if happy pay immediately. On the other hand when selling something I did experience time wasters, 1001 non relevant questions and low ballers. Guys will WhatsApp calling " dips" and 3 weeks later rant about not getting the item.
  7. I agree with you but I do feel for the people who entered this event. Looking back at their marketing and social media drive and what they promised I would also feel disappointed and now they simply just reply with a sneaky sneaky tiny t and c in the entey process. Take a look at the organizers from Around the Pot , they promised a full roll over and they were transparent from day one and when things got cancelled people reacted in a sympathetic manner and assured their support in the future.
  8. I am with you. Worked really hard after getting covid in December and struggled for 3 months to recover. I am more than happy to wait for a final call with 2 weeks to go. Things can change suddenly for the better.
  9. I think the organizers must hold out to end of July before making a call. We are at the low point now and things can only get better.
  10. Don`t even mention the price tag on some of this BB`s ????
  11. For what it's worth I am 176 and currently 78kg with my " racing weight " at 75kg. My overall fitness now is higher than it was when I last weighed 75kg and I struggle to climb as fast although i am fitter. Ironically I fitted a new carbon wheelset and I can feel the difference in acceleration but as soon as a climb is longer than 3 meters my extra 3 kg gulps my carbon wheelset advantage
  12. I am glad restrictions was imposed now and not later. With 8 weeks to go a lot can change and hopefully for the better.
  13. With the 3rd wave picking up speed and possible restrictions looming on events do you guys think 8 weeks will be enough for the 3rd wave to flatten.
  14. Transbaviaans 24 hour mtb Facebook page has got the video's
  15. I can't wrap my head around the price tag on these pedals. Obviously there will be okes with justified arguments but I personally feel that the cycling industry has gone mad.
  16. Also only recieved it this morning after asking for it in a heated email. Despite everything I will still give them the benefit of the doubt but I must admit that my patience is running low. There is literally no room for skimping this year and if Ecobound is not going to deliver a world class event people is going to vote with their wallets in the future.
  17. In Afrikaans se ons: " Ek gaan maar net liewers my f..kk..n kop skud".
  18. Anyone recieved their coupon code yet as per Ecobounds last email?
  19. +1
  20. I also tested positive during December and was man down for a week then recovered fairly quickly. Went to my Doctor on Wednesday for a check up and he suggested no training for 6 weeks except for a gentle walk around the block. He said at this stage there is no long term evidence about the effects of covid on the body especially on endurance athletes. There's so much conflicting information at the moment. O well better safe than sorry.
  21. The moment you have to explain yourself on more than one incident even if it happened 5 years ago is alarming and you surely you must start asking yourself if you're business ethics is on par. You admit to screw up the booking and then lie about/ hiding the fact. The main cornerstone of your business is engaging with people and if you can't be trusted then you have a problem. I suspect the damage is already done and if I were you I would come clean and salvage what is left. Just pay back the money unconditionally and build it from there otherwise you will find yourself in lockdown level 5 forever.
  22. I used to assist a bikeshop owner friend of mine at a stage race by helping with small stuff like tubeless repairs etc. Most of his clients had bookings/ service packages. I was astounded by the entitled and arrogant walk in clients that demands immediate service and then complain about the charges. At one point we were not able to take walk-ins because of workload and then they will go onto the shops social media pages and rant and rave.
  23. 99% of the people complaining didn't prepare as they should have. There's hundreds of riders ready and responsible enough to make the Summer event a success. People must understand that Ecobound can't respond to everyone's 20 questions and demands. a decision was made and if you don't like it sell your ticket. If things change which is possible we just need to suck it up and accept it for what it is. This is financially extremely difficult times for event companies and if they are going to please everybody then we can kiss them goodbye.
  24. I totally agree and obviously I have the same concerns and also invested time and money. What I am actually trying to say is that I know of 3 teams that did not train as they should and assumed that the event was going to get cancelled and now they are complaining about covid, heat etc. Doesn't matter which way the it goes people will be unhappy.
