  1. Also looking for new tyres. Prices stayed the same with only rrp that increased on " black Friday ads" .
  2. We had the exact same experience a couple of years ago. Amazing how quickly the sun sets in the Baviaans in winter
  3. Luckily our accommodation is walking distance from the start so a 5 am start wouldn't be an issue. The Double century was a wakeup call wrt riding in heat and I think heat training is going to be extremely important. Looking forward to the challenge
  4. Operating a vehicle recklessly on a public road. Operating a vehicle without a seatbelt ( passenger) The Assault part is minor if you take the rest into account.
  5. I am fortunate enough to service my own bikes after learning from an experienced mechanic and investing in tools. Bike servicing is extremely time consuming if it's a major service with front and rear suspensions. I have completely stopped doing favors to friends and family because they just dont appreciate the effort it takes to service a mtb properly. Personally I think a good mechanic is worth every penny
  6. I normally loosen the caliper bolts, lift the wheel and pull the brake lever and while holding the lever tight the bolts again.
  7. For me the important factor is size and ventilation. I still remember my first decent helmet, couldn't believe the difference in cooling me down on hot rides. I have realized we are actually paying for air holes
  8. I am running a sunrace cassette 11/51 with a 36t Csixx chainring. No issues since Feb
  9. I agree. The rims will crack within 15 months. The hubs however is bulletproof and easy to service and maintain. After 3 sets of Stans over 5 years I decided to take the custom build route, a good wheelbuilder is worth every penny.
  10. Had the same issue a couple of months ago. Ordered a BB and after about a week I recieved the wrong one, after some back and forth on whose fault it was they eventually send the correct BB. The courier refused to take the wrong BB back. I went out of my way to deliver the BB to them without even a simple thank you.
  11. Nobody is being forced. Either you take the deal or leave it , simple. Nothing dodgy, nothing new or strange. It's just a clever business strategy
  12. + I did the Argus on my Mtb with knobblies
  13. I have a rockshox reba with stancion wear on my 29er HT training bike, I replace the foam rings about every 3 months with a proper service once a year. Best performing fork I have.
  14. Hmmm...The trip looks awesome and reasonably priced and I admire your out of the box thinking in this extremely financially difficult time but I am uncomfortable with the permit. How does it work? If stopped at a roadblock how do I explain the situation?
  15. Believe me I know how you feel, but I have realized that I have to let go. Except the situation for what it is and live my life. The majority citizens is non compliant. Obviously I follow the regulations because I am a SAPS member and morally I have to practice what I preach and I do believe that wearing a mask will help but since I stopped losing my mind about other people I have peace in my heart. I have been affected directly by the virus with colleagues testing positive, 5 colleagues from neighboring stations died already. Believe me people don't care even after being arrested more than once. So yes I am going to say to you with respect....breath and relax and just avoid the morons, you will feel a hell of a lot better.
  16. Just Imagine, a guy riding in the dark on a Spez Shiv without any lights, not wearing a mask and throwing a Gu wrapper on the ground
  17. I get your point and I wear a mask ALL THE TIME to protect other people because I am actually a good candidate to infect other people because of my job. I was referring to putting yourself in harm's way and then complaining about it. Yes people are idiots and if you don't want to risk then stay at home and by the way not wearing a mask is not a offence.
  18. Unless everyone is wearing a proper/ N95 mask there is no way any mask is going to help. People are so obsessed with masks even though 99% wear/ take off/ dispose it incorrectly. Last time I checked cycling was a choice and if you feel vulnerable then stay at home.
  19. I will be surprised if the Transbaviaans is going ahead this year. The organizers said they will make a call on the 1st of June but they should have made it already.
  20. I suspect it's fake. Contravening the regulation will end up being issued a with a admission of guilt fine with the option to to go to court. AOG is set by the Magistrate in your respective magistrate's district and by ours it was set at R500. There is a big difference between arrest and detention and detention of most covid related cases is highly unlikely because of the risk of contaminating members or other prisoners. Concerning a criminal record: in most covid cases you will be charged on a FIC and not a case docket , to limit the probability of contamination no fingerprints is taken on a fic thus eliminating the chance to get a criminal record. However if caught a second time you will be in trouble.
  21. Well to be honest most people will get a fit if they saw what is going on in informal areas. No lockdown! In fact due to nobody working the streets is full of people. Soccer matches, children playing in the street, people sitting in groups on every corner, informal traders operating until what time, illegal shebeens etc, etc. Although it is wrong what happened in Sea point it is unfair labeling it white privilege.
  22. You will be surprised . Don`t compare your local "van driver" to every cop you see. There`s a reason SA prisons is 150% over crowded. There is more than a enough clever okes out there that can figure out the " complex" working of strava. Btw cyclist transgressing the DMA is not a priority, there is more serious things to do. Unless you are caught 50km from home at 13:00 midday there is nothing to worry about.
  23. The irony is that the people that is genuinely struggling to provide food for their families is not the one's that is complaining.
  24. Some guys is really taking the lockdown personal thinking that it's an unnecessary step from the government to punish them. Everybody is agreeing that it is devastating to our economy, its a huge inconvenience and we will feel the impact for years to come. You are not alone and everyone is suffering. Point is, doesn't matter what solution or plan you think you have it's been thought over by real experts. If you don't realize the seriousness of this disease and it's potential to kill literally hundreds of thousands of people you are an ignorant, selfish chop. A life is a life doesn't matter if you are 30 years old or 80 and if you have TB or HIV. It's our younger and fitter people's responsibly to give the older and not so healthy people a fighting chance. Nobody is expected you to fight it out in the trenches, just stay at your bloody house.
