  1. I will be surprised if the Transbaviaans is going ahead this year. The organizers said they will make a call on the 1st of June but they should have made it already.
  2. I suspect it's fake. Contravening the regulation will end up being issued a with a admission of guilt fine with the option to to go to court. AOG is set by the Magistrate in your respective magistrate's district and by ours it was set at R500. There is a big difference between arrest and detention and detention of most covid related cases is highly unlikely because of the risk of contaminating members or other prisoners. Concerning a criminal record: in most covid cases you will be charged on a FIC and not a case docket , to limit the probability of contamination no fingerprints is taken on a fic thus eliminating the chance to get a criminal record. However if caught a second time you will be in trouble.
  3. Well to be honest most people will get a fit if they saw what is going on in informal areas. No lockdown! In fact due to nobody working the streets is full of people. Soccer matches, children playing in the street, people sitting in groups on every corner, informal traders operating until what time, illegal shebeens etc, etc. Although it is wrong what happened in Sea point it is unfair labeling it white privilege.
  4. You will be surprised . Don`t compare your local "van driver" to every cop you see. There`s a reason SA prisons is 150% over crowded. There is more than a enough clever okes out there that can figure out the " complex" working of strava. Btw cyclist transgressing the DMA is not a priority, there is more serious things to do. Unless you are caught 50km from home at 13:00 midday there is nothing to worry about.
  5. The irony is that the people that is genuinely struggling to provide food for their families is not the one's that is complaining.
  6. Some guys is really taking the lockdown personal thinking that it's an unnecessary step from the government to punish them. Everybody is agreeing that it is devastating to our economy, its a huge inconvenience and we will feel the impact for years to come. You are not alone and everyone is suffering. Point is, doesn't matter what solution or plan you think you have it's been thought over by real experts. If you don't realize the seriousness of this disease and it's potential to kill literally hundreds of thousands of people you are an ignorant, selfish chop. A life is a life doesn't matter if you are 30 years old or 80 and if you have TB or HIV. It's our younger and fitter people's responsibly to give the older and not so healthy people a fighting chance. Nobody is expected you to fight it out in the trenches, just stay at your bloody house.
  7. I couldn't agree more, furthermore i don't believe that this so called Covid 19 virus exists. All of this is just a sneaky plot of the government to financially and socially drag us to the ground. This is all just a massive conspiracy theory to hide the fact the government is actually busy taken control of every aspect of our lives. This must be true because I even saw a post of their evil plan on Facebook.
  8. I am not getting my hopes up. Nowhere running or cycling is mentioned in level 4 with only " exercise under strict conditions ". Remember not everyone can exercise in his home or yard as people are living in informal areas, flats etc. I foresee movement to exercise will be permitted to your pavement/ parking bay/ sidewalk etc. Really hope I am wrong but it will cause serious loopholes in the government's bid to keep people confined.
  9. Hi David. How do I calculate how much TSS an session must be in order to increase my fitness number in the CTL graph ?
  10. Eventually one would figure out where the bolts must go but if you really want to screw with someone add a bolt or two that does not fit anywhere.
  11. Correct, thanks for correcting. I was actually thinking of State of emergency and typed wrong. State of emergency allows for radical limitations to our rights of movement and if we are not going to adhere to the current regulations it can get worse and like you say we do not want to go there.
  12. Its not a rule, it's the law. a State of emergency was declared and you are only allowed to leave your house in order to get medical supplies or food unless your occupation falls within the essential category. If caught by the wrong harde gat cop you will be charged with contravention of the act and the wrong judicial court will make a fuss about it and you can end up in jail. The problem in South Africa is that the moment we go cycle against the rule of law as it stands now a lot of people will point to us and say " but what about my sport" and soon everybody will be outside and the point of lockdown will have no effect. Just stay indoors
  13. It is exactly this type of behavior that led to the total shutdown.
  14. With events and races canceled I am using this time to do endurance rides. No need for intervals. Training group limited to 2 or 3 well known friends.
  15. You will be surprised what the overheads amount to in an event like the Epic. Keep in mind that for me and you it is 8 days but for the organizers it's a all year round job. 2 months ago the 2021 route was basically finalized with with new sections to be built soon. There's literally more than a hundred service providers that recieved there money upfront. Does the Epic make money? Sure they do but a cancellation like this will hurt them.
  16. Any sport or recreational event is guided by the Sport and recreational event act. An event like the Epic will have a command centre consisting of Epic organizers, local authorities, Saps, medical teams , disaster management etc etc. That is ultimately the people that will make the decision based on the current situation within the frame of the Act.
  17. If the decision was entirely up to the Cape Epic the show would have go on but unfortunately there is other role players involved and without their thumbs up there is nothing we can do.
  18. Happy with 2:56 today. This will be my last CTCT if they continue with 1 min gaps. This must have been the most dangerous race I have ever done.
  19. Exactly and next year the entry fee will be R650 in support of "charities ".
  20. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=496394937902951&id=100025973469597 Next year someone else will have demands
  21. I advertised an item recently and recieved a pm from a guy calling "dips".Tomorrow became the day after tomorrow and then next week and so on. After about 2 weeks I decided screw this and sold said item to the first cash offer. Suddenly dips guy appeared again and man did he go on about me selling "his item" after he called dips. If I want something I pay it immediately to secure the item.
  22. Spot on! I rode in B yesterday and we were literally about 10 guys doing the work up front after the break on Vissies for the rest of the route. Obviously not everyone's fitness is the same but if the bulk of the group just take 1 turn each for 1 minute the whole group would have a much faster time. Thats what I like about Mountain biking, if you are a lazy chop you get left behind quickly.
  23. 4 years ago I was exactly where you are now. Yesterday I rode the 99er in less than 3 hours with only a 750ml bottle. After struggling after 2 hours, I started to to train more consistent with longer rides over weekends. I do a lot of fasted rides and Intervals in between. 3 weeks hard 1 week off. On a 100km training ride I can go easily with only 2 bottles with no food and that after I used to consume a powerbar, banana, 2 gels and whatever else on a 3 hour ride. Don't train your body to eat in order to perform, train it to be efficient with only the necessary fuel.
  24. I don`t even look at my GPS during a road race , in fact sometimes I don`t even take a drink. To scared to look away for a second.
  25. Jip....and they are going to attack each other from the 1st kilometer. Those laaities has got endless energy
