  1. 99% of the people complaining didn't prepare as they should have. There's hundreds of riders ready and responsible enough to make the Summer event a success. People must understand that Ecobound can't respond to everyone's 20 questions and demands. a decision was made and if you don't like it sell your ticket. If things change which is possible we just need to suck it up and accept it for what it is. This is financially extremely difficult times for event companies and if they are going to please everybody then we can kiss them goodbye.
  2. I totally agree and obviously I have the same concerns and also invested time and money. What I am actually trying to say is that I know of 3 teams that did not train as they should and assumed that the event was going to get cancelled and now they are complaining about covid, heat etc. Doesn't matter which way the it goes people will be unhappy.
  3. I am glad. People are fine with bars and taverns, malls etc but throw their toys out about an event. I am sure it will be well organized . Chances are Restrictions and curfew will ease after new year's.
  4. Really holding thumbs, organizers seem confident that it will go ahead and our team really worked hard with only heat training to be done over the Dec holiday. Spoke to the lady of our guests house in Willomore and she said they really need the TB in town to kickstart the year after a difficult time. The fact that the August event opened also means that we cannot roll over our accommodation as it is already booked by August riders.
  5. I agree , o well it what it is. I am not holding my breath. Looking forward to nice holiday braai`s and beer now.
  6. What do you guys think ? Will this still go ahead? With IM and Epic being postponed there must be huge pressure on the organizers now.
  7. We had the exact same experience a couple of years ago. Amazing how quickly the sun sets in the Baviaans in winter
  8. Luckily our accommodation is walking distance from the start so a 5 am start wouldn't be an issue. The Double century was a wakeup call wrt riding in heat and I think heat training is going to be extremely important. Looking forward to the challenge
  9. I agree. The rims will crack within 15 months. The hubs however is bulletproof and easy to service and maintain. After 3 sets of Stans over 5 years I decided to take the custom build route, a good wheelbuilder is worth every penny.
  10. Nobody is being forced. Either you take the deal or leave it , simple. Nothing dodgy, nothing new or strange. It's just a clever business strategy
  11. + I did the Argus on my Mtb with knobblies
  12. The irony is that the people that is genuinely struggling to provide food for their families is not the one's that is complaining.
  13. Some guys is really taking the lockdown personal thinking that it's an unnecessary step from the government to punish them. Everybody is agreeing that it is devastating to our economy, its a huge inconvenience and we will feel the impact for years to come. You are not alone and everyone is suffering. Point is, doesn't matter what solution or plan you think you have it's been thought over by real experts. If you don't realize the seriousness of this disease and it's potential to kill literally hundreds of thousands of people you are an ignorant, selfish chop. A life is a life doesn't matter if you are 30 years old or 80 and if you have TB or HIV. It's our younger and fitter people's responsibly to give the older and not so healthy people a fighting chance. Nobody is expected you to fight it out in the trenches, just stay at your bloody house.
  14. I couldn't agree more, furthermore i don't believe that this so called Covid 19 virus exists. All of this is just a sneaky plot of the government to financially and socially drag us to the ground. This is all just a massive conspiracy theory to hide the fact the government is actually busy taken control of every aspect of our lives. This must be true because I even saw a post of their evil plan on Facebook.
  15. I am not getting my hopes up. Nowhere running or cycling is mentioned in level 4 with only " exercise under strict conditions ". Remember not everyone can exercise in his home or yard as people are living in informal areas, flats etc. I foresee movement to exercise will be permitted to your pavement/ parking bay/ sidewalk etc. Really hope I am wrong but it will cause serious loopholes in the government's bid to keep people confined.
  16. Hi David. How do I calculate how much TSS an session must be in order to increase my fitness number in the CTL graph ?
  17. Eventually one would figure out where the bolts must go but if you really want to screw with someone add a bolt or two that does not fit anywhere.
  18. You will be surprised what the overheads amount to in an event like the Epic. Keep in mind that for me and you it is 8 days but for the organizers it's a all year round job. 2 months ago the 2021 route was basically finalized with with new sections to be built soon. There's literally more than a hundred service providers that recieved there money upfront. Does the Epic make money? Sure they do but a cancellation like this will hurt them.
  19. Any sport or recreational event is guided by the Sport and recreational event act. An event like the Epic will have a command centre consisting of Epic organizers, local authorities, Saps, medical teams , disaster management etc etc. That is ultimately the people that will make the decision based on the current situation within the frame of the Act.
  20. If the decision was entirely up to the Cape Epic the show would have go on but unfortunately there is other role players involved and without their thumbs up there is nothing we can do.
  21. I advertised an item recently and recieved a pm from a guy calling "dips".Tomorrow became the day after tomorrow and then next week and so on. After about 2 weeks I decided screw this and sold said item to the first cash offer. Suddenly dips guy appeared again and man did he go on about me selling "his item" after he called dips. If I want something I pay it immediately to secure the item.
  22. Spot on! I rode in B yesterday and we were literally about 10 guys doing the work up front after the break on Vissies for the rest of the route. Obviously not everyone's fitness is the same but if the bulk of the group just take 1 turn each for 1 minute the whole group would have a much faster time. Thats what I like about Mountain biking, if you are a lazy chop you get left behind quickly.
  23. 4 years ago I was exactly where you are now. Yesterday I rode the 99er in less than 3 hours with only a 750ml bottle. After struggling after 2 hours, I started to to train more consistent with longer rides over weekends. I do a lot of fasted rides and Intervals in between. 3 weeks hard 1 week off. On a 100km training ride I can go easily with only 2 bottles with no food and that after I used to consume a powerbar, banana, 2 gels and whatever else on a 3 hour ride. Don't train your body to eat in order to perform, train it to be efficient with only the necessary fuel.
  24. I don`t even look at my GPS during a road race , in fact sometimes I don`t even take a drink. To scared to look away for a second.
  25. Jip....and they are going to attack each other from the 1st kilometer. Those laaities has got endless energy
