  1. Mampara is correct here. That is the best way to test!!! It isn't necessarily distance as it depends how you ride as well. If you spin your chain might last a little longer than if you grind the big gears. Otherwise just take your bike to your trusted LBS and ask them!! I change my chain on average every 6 months and then i don't have to change the cassette...that can get expensive!!!!
  2. Ooh lekker Slowbee!!! She is BEAUTIFUL......there is definitely more than one jealous person here May you have endless hours of fun in the mud with her!!
  3. Slowbee, I'm now very disappointed
  4. Looking at those females reminds me of the time this one female and her hubby used to come to our gym. She had muscles like that but oh boy, block your nose when she walks past you Her body odour just wasn't human!!!!
  5. Hey, I sounded like that this morning
  6. So, it's all in the mind!! I can win I can win I can win I can win I can win I can win I can win
  7. I'm jealous I also want a MTB!!!
  8. Damn...now I just need to grow a bit so I can test ride it
  9. I like the comment that was made with regards to the drivetrain allowing more cross-chaining....and the hoods look really comfy!! I was also wondering about the thinness of the chain but they say it is stronger than the 10-speed one, hmmmm. Well, time will tell. I'll let Spinnekop test it out first This really does look quite yummy
  10. If so' date=' do some one-leg pedal strokes (swap after a few min.) with low resistance (it's harder than you think) - that will teach you to push n' pull and develop a smooth pedal stroke ...[/quote'] i try do this while riding round the block. Neighbours think I am mad ! You're a cyclist...of course you're mad
  11. Slowbee, your ankle should never be weak so to speak so you'll only use your ankle a little bit and the rest will be done with the calves, quads and hammies Are we making any sense here
  12. Actually mtbfreak is right there. on a hill try focus on just pushing, then pulling, then using the one leg more and then the other and see what works for you.
  13. You're supposed to use both
  14. Slowbee that sounds correct yes!!
  15. Slowbee, for really good technique your focus on every stroke should be to push down with your heel on the down stroke and pull up on the upstroke so you are continually working with a smooth round motion.
  16. He's got some sort of virus....syphelous something....forgot the name.... So he'll be out of action for a while I hear. And besides.....we want to keep Groenkloof single track....If he pitches' date=' it's going to be expanded to jeep track. [/quote'] Rolux ewep (Sing with deep baritone bass voice, like in the Magnum adv) You don't even need to tempt him....He naturally starts singing when his bum hits that saddle!!!! Now I know why
  17. ...and true to TCS style....check those beers!!!
  18. The only six-pack of mine that I have seen in recent years are the ones in the fridge
  19. Actually if they are weak you will find that your seating position might not be correct, you will get back pain, especially after hills and you might get ITB problems!!! They are worked a bit in training but not as much as they could / should be. I feel it is better to at least specifically target train them once a week. If you really want to perform to your best, work those core muscles. But I do find men naturally have better and stronger core muscles than females!!
  20. Carbonboy for more indepth details....you have your organs and then muscles running horizontal around your waist which are your core mucles. Over these lie your vertical abdominal muscles which are the ones that give you your six-pack (if you have one ) and your back muscles.
  21. Here's an interesting question.... who has a trainer becasue they don't know how to train correctly??....and who has a trainer because they need someone to report back to and the motivation???
  22. I'm the same...winter focus more on gym and summer give it more of a rest due to all the racing!! Realised not so long ago that power is one of my weaknesses now so am doing lots of squats and other stuff!!
  23. I think Admin deleted it!!!
  24. I like your idea of thinking Slowbee....just go for a ride and forget teeth!!!
