  1. Something weird going on with confirmation e-mails and where to pay e-mails. Keep checking my spam folder and haven't received anything. However used the link and paid. So I guess it is save to say I secured an entry.
  2. Can be a number of causes. Better get a electrician to check that you house is properly earthed first. Can be anything from corroded earth wire, seepage from underground cable or said element.
  3. As usual it should be moderate to strong breeze of between 10 - 80 km/h
  4. Jip. Like clockwork. At least once a year. (Just kidding Roux. Kudo's for staying loyal to the brand)
  5. Starting to think that you are a serial frame cracker Dalk bietjie rof ?
  6. He should be OK going up. Down is another story.
  7. Glad to see you did not make the same mistake that a fellow hubber from the free state made a while ago. I.E rest his bike against the lion fence for the photo.
  8. Don't like the tattoos either. Beautiful canvas though.

    RIFLE

Caliber depends on what you want to shoot also. Some farms don't allow .270 for kudu, and some nothing smaller than 30-06 for eland.
  10. All of hub land mourns with you and your friends families. Stay strong.
  11. Hi Dale Glad to see you decided to broaden your horizons from tarmac only. Suspected something like this was just a question of time after your interest in the Anthem thread.
  12. Pity you dont specify what tipe of frame. Anti seize paste is a good idea anyway. If all else fails and frame is aluminium. Try one of these. Clamps both the seatpost and the frame.
  13. Jip, dont think any of those three is going to lose any sleep worrying about being undertrained for the epic!
  14. Beautiful build. You are going to enjoy the Epic on that machine!
  15. I think we all can learn a lot from this. Two guys with completely different opinions on a subject respecting each others point of view. Unfortunately, some other comments were clearly just intended to agitate, and did not add anything meaningful to this discussion.
  16. I put my family on Discovery Coastal Saver. Been with Discovery for past 13 years and family had a couple of hospitalisations through the years. (including a daughter showing up 7 weeks prematurely and staying three weeks in prenatal ICU) With every event the amount I had to pay in was basically pocket change. Would recommend Discovery to anyone.
  17. Only saw him a couple of times when I bought something at Spensjolyt. Did not now him socially. Pies still are good though.
  18. I also think the whole grass fed / free range thing is bit of a marketing hype. Being a farmer myself I see lots of products claiming free range where the opposite really is true. A good indication is to look on the packaging if the free range claim is substantiated by compliance to some or other regulating body. Something like Karoo lamb, angus beef or the woollies products. They actually have a set of rules and do farm visits and certify their farmers. Corn fed vs. grass fed is bit of a conundrum. Corn fed beef and lamb is actually more tender than grass fed. Animals are fed higher energy diets in feed lots. They reach the slaughter weight at a younger age and don't move around a lot. Grass fed animal reach their target weight at a later age and have to move around a lot for grazing. (tougher muscles) Most grass fed animals also receive some form of concentrate supplement (corn based!) to balance out the seasonal variations in the quality of the grazing. There is no such thing as a 100% grass fed animal. What is true though is that with feed lot meat there is a much higher risk that the animal has been treated with growth hormones and stimulants to reach the target weight even faster. My advice would be is to forget the whole corn fed/ grass fed thing and look for product that is certified growth hormone and antibiotic free.
  19. More of a reader than a poster. And no veggie. Your standard meat eating Dutchman. +1 on The Biltong Factory. You should come check out their new bacon biltong.
  20. Hi Welcome to cycling and the hub. Just beware. Can be addictive!
  21. Hi Bought the Aspect 10 29er 3 weeks ago and have so far done about 500 km on it. No complaints so far. Brakes a bit noisy, but then again it's my first disk brake bike. Dont really have something to compare it with. Would strongly recommend this bike to anyone.
  22. Hi I am also interested in the Scott Aspect 10. (29er version) My LBS are now offering it for R8.5k. Is it a good deal? I was waiting for the Merida 2013 TFS 500/600 niner, but looks like the new models have migrated out of my price bracket.
