  6. i have not been to belgium yet, dunno what its like there. I was in UK, Ireland, France and Holland. ow and Dubai lol When i was in Holland i flew to Eindhoven airport both times ( i like that airport - actually know it backwards now) I stayed in OSS and visited Geffen, Amsterdam, Nijmagen, Arnhem, Utrecht and a few other towns (cant remember the names) was all over - very pretty country I also ate the olie bolle (spelling), brocht broket (spelling), frites and the culture is that everything is done on their bikes. It is so wierd to see that coming from SA, the youngsters ride in groups (like little bunches) to one anothers houses and to shops and wherever. Their bunch skills are brilliant - its no wonder they so good at racing bikes cos they have done this all their lives..
  7. I must admit when i was in Holland earlier this year i found it to be very beautifull, in fact of all the countries i visited in Europe, Holland was by far the prettiest. Very well looked after, people pride themselves in their houses (gardens) and the villages have a very family oriented vibe that comes with it - felt very warm and accepting.
  8. Hey Markie Welcome to CT You know what would really be cool is for more long distance races on the calendar, maybe make the leagues do 2 laps of races... Very often you see the legue guys ride another lap or ride home anyway. Racing gets very interesting when you start talking triple figures... high triple figures Imagine westcoast express being 160km -
  9. We not all as hardcore as you Fand TBH I didn't know about any negative gripes about this years DC, were there officiall problems lodged? Why we all making such a big fuss about imo non issues... ( i did not notice any problems myself - must have happened after we passed thru
  10. Thank you for the opportunity, i thoroughly enjoyed it, pity about the mechanicals, take away all the punctures and mechanicals you guys had and you would have broken into that top 5 i am sure! Took this picture of you guys pacelining on the way to Suurbraak as we leapfrogged you, it was quite a site! awesome paceline!
  11. Yeah those neotel guys had a rough day, not so cool with the motorpacing, but i did feel for them at the end, i also saw jeremy getting pushed up some of the rollers after 160km stop, he looked really battered, surprized he even made it to the finish...
  12. what is SASCOC?
  13. I was remarking to someone while we were driving the final stretch that the "apparent final 20km" felt more like 30km.... The wind was terrible on the day. I did backup on the day. Funniest moment on the DC for me was the Firday night driving on the dirt roads in the mountains to find our cabin, our driver was more than a little anxious to get to the house and drove a bit too fast on a very bumpy road which caused the back door to fly open and out went a set of EASTON Carbon Deep sections and into the wilderness in the pitch dark. I was in the back trying to stop the bikes from flying out as well while trying to get the drivers attention by knocking on the cabby window. They all thought i was joking with them and they were laughing their @sses off at me until Grant stopped the truck and discovered what happened. So he set off down the road armed with cell phone light to try and find the wheelset Found it and the wheels were oktooHot!!!!2008-11-24 01:17:16
  14. Looks hectic!
  15. Actually you raise a very interesting point there, although slightly off topic but still in line with training. I was chatting to a m8 the other day and we were struggling to figure out how these ppl (hard core ppl) who go train at 4am in the morning before work are still able to be productive later in the day at work? Mainrain concentration etc. I know that i cannot, even when i am fit and in shape, just dunno how u do it?
  16. geeez that seriously sux! sorry to hear

  20. i dont skip, but i do run as another form of training other than cycling. Typically, especially in the week when i dont really feel like getting geared up for a long 2 hour ride in the evenings i will instead go for a solid 40min - 1 hour run up in the hills. Works me nicely and after a while ur shins and calves adjust to the impact. I actually quite enjoy my running now
  21. You mean a weak movement...
  22. he will have a weak moment when we all kick him in the chops as well
