  1. Spoke to a co-worker who is in 1D, he said the reason me and him are seeded this high is indeed because of One Tonner. Can't remember when last I took part in an event that had a Beta of 2 or more.
  2. To work, it's Friday to I take my "casual" 26er.
  3. Nee man, unshaven and riding in MTB baggies.
  4. Thanks, that explains it. Probably does not count in my favour that One tonner was the last time I was on the road bike
  5. I've come within 5 minutes of 3 hours, and was not disappointed at all. That is because I am not pushing for a sub 3. Easy way to avoid disappointment. Same can be said for a sub 4 K2C. If it happens, it happens - if not, meh, everything is a fun ride if you are brave enough. I know this is a bit of cliché, but how did my 5:45 One Tonner bag me 1B?
  6. 6:29, 1B... So a double fun ride is within reach after all
  7. I did it for the first time in 2016 and it was cool, last year I just did it because my 2nd lap entry for 2017 was carried over. Let me see what FOMO does should I get that email asking me if I want to do it twice. Thus far I never taken more than 4 hours to finish a lap and I would hate to break that record. Then again, it is still way to early for beer at the company tent after the 1st one...
  8. Not too concerned with my seeding, as long as the start time is early enough to afford me the chance of a 2nd lap. Still not sure if I'll do it again...
  9. Dafuq? My PPA road seeding is C - based off that lekker 170km fun ride I did at the end of October. Normally I get seeded on my K2C time.
  10. No wonder I was up there so slow in the previous years - I ride with H2O only....
  11. CoolerMaster - that is exactly what one needs to be when going up Visserhok The master of cool...
  12. Don't get off the bike - keep on going. There was this one hot year when they just tared the road and I just switched my road bike to 1x8... dang... that was rough. But you just have to keep on going and don't get off to push. I'll be missing this year, if they introduce a new / interesting route I'll give it a go again (like last year).
  13. My dad is almost 70 and still rides, and there are many older than him that does to.
  14. One of the best organised, well marked, beautiful scenery.... but poorly marketed with low attendance.
  15. Should we build a wall or something?
  16. The solution for too many elite riders is simple. It's called Helshoogte - about 300m after the start.
  17. I'll do it again if they return to Stellenbosch. The convenience of getting on my bike and riding to the start venue is what made me participate. I did see some very tired riders making their way past Welgevonden when I went for a mid morning jog around our estate, shame, poor fellas. Does anyone know if they are going to move out One Tonner? That would be a bummer for me if they do.
  18. Having done every one since 2011 I did not ride yesterday because of the new start venue. Looking at the number of finishers it seems the decline is continuing. 2019 33702017 35822016 41842015 43212014 54252013 47412012 47462011 4192 (2011 to 2013 still have the shorter 40km route as well).
  19. Enjoy SCT, looking at participation number trends over the last few years and the killer move of a new far our venue - this could be the last.
