  1. Things got a little wet in the two weeks since I was last on my regular commute home. The stream in which the bike was standing is flowing nicely
  2. Nice, proper flat pedals.
  3. Nice, shot of me with my skewe nommer there towards the end.
  4. Thanks to everyone that put in a lot of effort to make this happen. All the people were friendly, lots of marshals that smiled and greeted back, proper route marking - really a well organised event. As for the route, that first part until after Fairy Glen was not really memorable or exciting. I know the section that was cut came after Fairy Glen and would have had more of the fun stuff. However it was beyond the control of the organisers - they had to act in the interest of rider safety. Some pics
  5. I think it will be at 9 then, they always go with the latest time when there is a ballsup.
  6. I'll be going slowly through the wet spots, please don't overtake me in a flash and splash me
  7. Filled up my car last Saturday and have not driven it since. It's a toy for me. My bike is my main transport.
  8. Correct, this is my daily commute : https://www.sports-tracker.com/workout/rouxenator/5b195c82f175723ecf0f83a8 that is at about 8.84km into the ride, just after Varsity Dropout. This morning.... fog.... Got to the office and I was a bit.... moist....
  9. Another day, another ride home
  10. This is the first ever ride I will be doing that covers some parts of our family farm. I think the first ever ride to do that was the initial "origin of trails" but seeing as back then they did not offer a comp or discount to land owners it has put a permanent black cross behind Origin of Trails for me. For ever. Stellenbosch "Die Burger" MTB on the other hand has been a far more pleasant affair and having been invited to the 75km a few times, and just the awesome vibe any Dirtopia ride has in general - this will be such a treat for me personally. Bring it on
  11. Coetzenburg, on the way home.
  12. Yeah, a different route than the usual one. It was something else but I hope next year the old route will return.
  13. More pics on : http://www.photosport.co.za/gallery/AMARIDER-100-miler/594/page1/
  14. Eina! that sounds very nasty. Best of luck with getting back on the bike again. Today I can sort of sit on my left bum cheek again, still badly bruised. Bike shop called earlier and said the rear rim if cracked, but still I feel my outcome from all of this very good considering what went down (pun intended). If you guys enjoyed this ride then be sure to try out the Cederberg 100 miler. They have changed the route and the start and end will now be in Clanwilliam.
  15. I had a crank bail on me like that on the Koringberg ride once, could go about 8k then had to stop and find a rock with which to bash it on again. Almost did that yesterday with the wheel but in the end kicking it did the trick.
  16. Brilliant! Perfect weather and finally I managed to do a sub 8 hours 160 miler. I previously did this in 2016 and under estimated it completely. Had a nasty OTB shortly after 100km cause by a deep section of loose gravel in the middle of the road after a cattle grid. On it's own that would have been fine, but I really feel bad for the guys that piled up on me. Sorry for that and I hope you all are doing OK. I really wish that did not happen, so please accept my sincerest apologies. Thanks for the rest of the group that stopped to assist. You guys are awesome. Luckily I could ride away and finish with a few nasty scars, wrecked ego and buckled rear wheel rubbing the frame. Can't wait for next year
  17. Entered, quite keen to see how this goes.
  18. My training for this was Cederberg 100 miler, and judging by that performance tomorrow is gonna be long and hard.... mielie af trap tyd! Edit : GPX as request : http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=90119149579037944712
