  1. Last i heard was a couple of broken bones (hand etc), dislocated knee cap. Supposedly got away very lightly - could have been a lot worse. Only heard via the grape vine thus far, will update if I hear anything more definite.
  2. Had the privilege of riding this bad boy the other day - pedals like an XC bike, with the joys of Big travel and big wheels
  3. Some pics from the launch in case you were wondering http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150610318591153.432822.586681152&type=3&l=6555fef3ed
  4. Comment from Patrick was in the region of R15k for frame and shock (And I am open massively to correction here!). Definitely worth it when you see this beauty in the flesh!
  5. Had the awesome opportunity of going along to the launch and to test some of the bikes (some of the pics from the launch are mine ). Honestly (and unbiased) have to say these bikes are phenomenal. I am not a fan of duals, but this one rides like a dream. And absolutely fell in love with the hardtail - it is probably one of the most responsive riding bikes I have ever ridden - mostly due to great design in tandem with the X-12 rear through axle on some very short stays. Tested it against my current 26" and wins hands down - actually more responsive than a singlespeed!!! And some interesting info is that there has been a large input from the man behind the majority of Leatt's designs, along with Csixx's products
  6. We're there IN FORCE!!!
  7. And looking at the pic of the car, it seems he was hit on the driver side! (Presumption would be that the left would be first damaged, but not the case here!)
  8. Best I have found is to spray Powasol on the bike straight after a muddy ride, before the mud dries. Leave for a few minutes and spray off with Garden hose... looks cleaner than before the ride! Waiting to test out some of the other Powasol / multitergent products, but only heard good things!
  9. If you willing to go aluminium, the Mongoose meteore with full XX and ZTR wheels / SID fork (29er) is a good option at R30k
  10. She is a beauty... managed to get my hands on one of the only 5 in existence! And yes the headset is tapered - but bottom bearing in an external cup so looks good still! Pics to follow next week when i finish building her!
  11. Maybe check these out... may be a good option, as they are designed specifically for what u want. http://www.qhubeka.org/qhubeka/OUR_BIKE.html PM me and I will drop you the email address
  12. Time Freight now work on volume for box for bikes instead of weight, as they were losing out with the high volume, light weight stuff. Even so, shouldn't be more than R400 odd. The best is to get whoever you bought it from to drop it off at the depot, and mark it for collection at your local depot - tends to drop the price a bit. Send and receive quite a lot of bike stuff through Time Freight and never paid much more. Its the collecting and dropping off either side of the depots that tends to raise the amount a lot! Hope this helps.
  13. Check out the other thread... Albert Falls Dam at the Time Freight MTB Race (The helmet pic is one of mine )
  14. This has gone absolutely outa control! Coverage currently spanning the whole of the US, Britain, and large parts of Australia and Asia. The list is endless!
  15. Follow Max Cluer on Facebook for updates to where the video is going, so far US and Aus 7pm news amongst others! Check out the Cycho Media pic hiding in the vid with more to follow!
  16. Also check on the frame, as some of the older model peace's could not fit disk brakes on the rear! But enjoy the SS side of things... welcome to the dark side
  17. The end result to the helmet... The pic does not do it justice. Thankfully Evan ok, just with a sore head and neck... having a good chuckle about it now. Received some massive interest around the world, including ABC News in the US who have been phoning the 2 for interviews!
  18. cool, thanks for fixing @ Gummibear!
  19. Just picked this up off Bikerumour...They've now created a site just for us multisporters www.triathlonrumour.com
  20. Ran the SLP's for a couple of months on my 29er... was not happy with them at all!!! Not sure if i had a dud set, but had half the braking power of my old Deore brakes (which I have now gone back to), with a VERY spongey feel (even after bleeding!) Just got hold of a set of Formula RX, but if I had a choice, the only brakes I would ever use are the Formula R1 (no you CANNOT put Hygia anywhere near to the same league!!!)
  21. These are looking pretty good at sub 15K (rumoured) http://www.mongoose.com/zaf/mtn/2012/bikes/hardtail/2012-meteore-expert-29r http://cdn.mongoose.com/catalog/product/cache/234/image/878x/040ec09b1e35df139433887a97daa66f/m/_/m_12_METEX_BLK_6.jpg
  22. Ha ha... would that be the same ride up the Umko mountains that I crazily did the full way Single speed A 32 x 18 on a 29er was definitley not my wisest choice (forced due to lack of options / set up limits!) for the Umkomaas valley and the 5km climb out!
  23. Hey tumbles... the vitalmtb link is the vid!
  24. That's how to truly earn your rainbow stripes! And some serious cred on the mountain!
