Evans and Knox seems the best solution, Brandon Stewart is not good enough to be a serious Epic contender, the Shurter idea is quite appealing though, who knows, or maybe an obscure pairing with Hermeida? I can tell you one thing, Kevin will race Epic 2013, with a top notch rider, he is too good to be left in the cold, as far as I know, Scott has pledged their support for KE in no uncertain terms, Reid is too young and long distance is not his thing. Or maybe enter the mixed category with Sally Bingham or the like, shoot me down and flame me if you will, but that may be his best chance at an Epic win, as much as I like KE, he is an unlikely winner of the Epic regardless f what has happened recently, I would love him to make me eat my words though, cos the big man knows, he deserves to be an Epic winner.

The Hilton area has some epic trails, Karkloof is also wonderful. We have also been having issues with guys on MX bikes at Holla, the rip up the trails and break the bridges, they also pose a serious safety issue, they are not allowed at Holla but do as they please nonetheless, your Holla permit allows access to most of the farms in the area, the one or two farmers who do not want you to ride on their farms are marked with no-go signage.

Holla has around 300km of marked trail, ranging from easy 15k ride to an 86km ride with 2200m vertical gain, the red route is 30km's with of some of the best single track I've ever ridden, the yellow is 45 kms with great single track, purple is 25 kays of good fun, the marroon is 30 kays with some tough climbs, then there is the blue 25kays of great all round ridding, showers at the trail head, really well worth the visit, happy to join you for a ride, that's my valley and I'm lucky enough to live 4kays from Holla, you will have to try really hard to find better all round riding in SA tha Holla. Check the chamfer on the bearing, the last one I bought the "cutout" was bigger than what I needed, I have both types in my garage, will be in jozi next week, meet you at the pub......

To win the epic takes a few things, talent, fitness, partner and a bit of luck, KE has the desire and talent but has had bad luck, bad partners and bad timing, he's age is now also a factor.

Yup, Rouxtjie and I were talking some time back and we both agreed, that as sad as it may sound I do not think KE will ever win the Epic, but if there ever was a more deserving winner it would be King Kevin.
