  1. helps with some vibration too.
  2. roadie or mtb? sounds a super sweet work out. Just need to check work stuff and i might join.
  3. how's your grip during the descents? If you white knuckling it, then your hands are going to hurt quite a bit eventually. I havent used the ESI grips myself, but consensus thus far suggests they are generally The most comfortable.
  4. uni- or tricycle.
  5. I see what you did there
  6. If one looks at what beta-blockers actually do, and i quote from wikipedia: IMO: Training is physical stress, and is reacted upon as a normal stress response by your body, and therefore, you are going to underperform according to PowerCal at the same level of exertion. If you dosage is constant, then like with inaccuracies, the relative difference between performances at the same level of exertion under the same dosage will be what's important. Absolute values are skewed because of the effect of the beta-blockers. But one must keep in mind that when under the influence of any drug, there is a peak period followed by a taper as the drug follows its degrading impact curve. One could use drug-half life as an interval during which one assumes constant impact. In reality, it tapers off as the renal system filters it out of the blood stream, and even that varies due to changes in physiology brought about by physical activity. But i'd make an assumptions of constant dose over an interval based on drug half life. Knowing these periods of constant dose, one can then make better assessments of PowerCal data on a relative basis. Absolute values should be discarded IMO.
  7. if the outputs are inaccurate, but stable, then the relative change between those values are of more importance than the actual number itself. Plotted over a period of time, it will give you a fairly good indication of changes in your performance. but if the instantaneous value is inaccurate, and if there are large variations in output under the same conditions, then it's practically useless tbh. But I dont think the latter is the case with this type of powermeter simply because the algorithms that determine power from the one parameter it picks up is constant. That parameter being your HR. So I would suggest you look at relative changes in power readings over a period of time to determine your level of performance.

  9. that was a lekker ride. Perfect weather. hashtag of the night must be #pissedoffdrivers.... hahhaha
  10. i laughed so hard at that, but so well said! But a fruitythemed maker of toys just sent a squad of goons to fix your sacrilegous thoughts... .
  11. Nice find ChrisW, but I have to agree with Azonic. In fact, i'm pretty much stoked that some propietary bs is avoided. I avoid that sort of setups like the plague: Stupid lock-ins like that should be banned unless it provides a mASSIVE performance increase. Again, i'd love to see true differences, not marketeering rubbish. Strength, vibrations, stiffness etc.
  12. i guess what i'm getting at is: besides of waffling over all the theoreticals, wish someone would be able to pinpoint exactly how the carbon blanks represents a complete and utter misfire when compared to the branded originals. Sectional views, strength tests, stiffness measurements.. would be mighty interesting. but coming back to the OPs motivation for starting this thread, that poser on gumtree is a devious scumbag. Using without permission, the trading name of someone else's company for profit is just plain theft/fraud/doucheness of note.
  13. window dressing at best, because if you know exactly where the culprits are, you go in hard and nuke the whole operation. But since they know who their bosses really are, they play nice. Now whois worse: Pina or the chinese?
  14. Velobuild
  15. agreed, but the irony in that part of your post is that they persist with the chinese/taiwanese manufacturers. Reminds me of those that refuse to buy from the factory shops because they prefer the 'royal treatment + nice bag' they get when they go full retail. and they say you can't buy class *giggles*
  16. did pina put up a general notice and say watch out for these fake frames coming out of china? I ask because I'm curious as to where the line is on this situation. The chinese are obviously pushing out replicas and selling it online to all and sundry: what then is the real difference between teh frames besides the coloring and stickers, which means stuffall in my mind tbh. Are these frames actually patented? AFAIK, if there are fancypants processes involved, those companies tend to do things in house. Trek comes to mind. I'm ignoring Crow's post because that's for cars, and a blatant bit of piracy. In the instance of bike frames, the chinese/taiwanese factories are the Go-To specialists hired by the brand names to do their dirty work. It's not as clear cut.
  17. Greg doesnt stand a chance against Cedric. If one of the biggest, most overgrown kiddies to ever shred on a bike didnt bust his hip in that horrific smash, maaaaaaaaaaaaybe Greg would've had a whiff of a chance. Sorry Greg, but nice guys come second .
  18. plain vanilla matchmaker clamps: http://r2-bike.com/bilder/produkte/gross/Matchmaker-avid.jpg
  19. There are two types of matchmaker: you need matchmaker X (MMX) clamps. The MMX clamps: http://webcyclery.com/images/library/large/avid_matchmakerx_single_slv_12_m.jpg http://brimages.bikeboardmedia.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/sram-xx-matchmaker-x-clamp.jpg Will end up like this: http://bicycling.com/blogs/mbword/files/2009/05/mmxcombo_offbar.jpg and http://cdn.mos.bikeradar.com/images/news/2009/05/27/1243412273636-ur57gvan6dn6-798-75.jpg
  20. a bike like a bone, and mistletoe? huh edit: not mistletoe, but holly, as in Holly Feniak. *slaps forehead*. I think the bike is more an "H" than it is a bone So it's Holly Feniak, riding her Junior World Champs rainbow stripes into the big time.
  21. Ice/cold water bath (jump in a pool). The single best recovery strategy. But it has its detractors. The one most agree upon though, is deep tissue massage.
  22. funnily enough, I've had a higher percentage of hand waves and smiles from roadies really getting their burn on during a climb than those just casually rolling down the decline. Only earns them more respect for showing they are Not so single minded as to be douches. But takes all kinds to make a world, so greet/dont greet be awesome/be a douche. your choice really.
  23. so essentially its god-given EPO? hotdamn, tell the UCI to give that man his medals back..
