  1. I don't see a problem with that. The spot has been payed for, who ever fills that spot, does it really matter.
  2. The BBT green strips I installed on my bike are working fine, however 5 months down the line I installed the same on my wife's bike and not with much success. The strips keeps leaking around the valve area so I tighten the valve nut and eventually the strip splits. I have seen other failures where it seems the bead of the tire radially tears the strip apart. Try to communicate with BBT via e-mail but they do not seem to interested in assisting.
  3. With regards to rim tape, be careful what brand you use. I converted mine using the BBT rim strip and it seems to be working fine. Two months back I converted my wifes wheels and I'm not having much luck. The strip leaks around the valve area so you fasten the valve nut a bit more to try get a seal, eventually the strip splits. I have tried contacting BBT via e-mail, seems they do not want to talk. I have now gone with a full UST wheel set.
  4. When you get a puncture do a postmortum on the tube to determine what caused the flat. If it is a pinch flat (snake bite, two small cuts) then you are running too low a pressure for the weight you are carring or your 25C tire could be to small. If there is a single cut or a piercing then you have ridden over something that has caused the puncture. Make sure the culprit is removed before fitting the new tube. I run 28C tires with no liners or sludge and have had very few punctures. Our combined body weight is appx. 130kg. Tire pressure 7,5 bar front, 8 bar rear. Good luck.
  5. Have a look to see that you do not have a bent tooth on one of the chainrings or the cassette.
  6. Same problem with my X-King from new. Ridden it as is no problem!!
  7. Spokes do stretch, thats how you get tension in them. The problem is if they stretch to much the material will yield. Under normal wheel operation the spokes will not yield. Hope this helps, my two cents worth!!
  8. Re-seeded: Start group for the 2012 Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour is J, with a start time of 06:51. That's a bit better.
  9. Yip, Some times us cyclists are our own worst enemy!!!
  10. I am in L this year, down from H last year. I wonder why???
  11. TL for me and my engine start 06:25
  12. Located a PRO headset at Mean Machine Cycles in Germiston. Thanks George!!! and Werner my scout We have one very happy lady.
  13. Cool man, well done Conrad and Sandy Koen!!
  14. It is just getting tooooooooo!!!! expensive when one has to fork out for two or more entries. Then some events are badly organised with a lot of bottle necks, not my idea of fun. Imagine mountain biking with the same amount of entries as road, it would probably be total chaos. I would rather save that money and put it towards a weekend away to Mankele or Misty valley. Just my two cents worth.
  15. You are right Chowder, the steerer tube on the fork is not threaded, it has a spider nut on the ID which holds it all together. Thanks guys for the input, much appreciated.
  16. Not to sure if this is a threaded headset.
  17. Hi Johan, I have some more pic's for you to look at.
  18. Assistance please!!!!
  19. I have an Orbea road bike (maybe pre 2000) with a Modus H511XX headset that needs to be replaced. Are these headsets still available or would I have to fit an intergrated or semi-intergrated headset. The fork has a 1" steerer tube. What work is envolved?
  20. Thanks Wendell
  21. Wendell, What will the trail condition be like after all the rain we have had?
  22. Talk for yourself, 60km @ R168.00 is not cheap!! Especially when you have to pay for two.
  23. Just some feed back from the Fox agents as to what is causing the problem. They still would not fix the problem under warrantee!! Quote: Fox changed oil formulations when they started producing FIT carts. The new oil was stickier to combat the stiction caused by the lack of oil in the open bath of the fork. This had a negative spinoff which in turn caused the situation you see on your fork with a sticky dirt layer which wont be removed. To combat this, the open bath oil needs to be changed to fox's 10wt red oil. The new fox SKF low friction dust wipers also assists.
  24. What container size/capacity are available for sale?
  25. Ha Ha should have guessed, the agents want to replace the seals and service the fork for R600-00. (Seal warrantee only 3 months). If the seals are not leaking why replace the seals? The seals have not failed, they are doing what they are designed to do. Typical South African business culture. Why don't they just honour their warranty.
