  1. If I remember correctly, Ellsworth tweeted the photo.

  5. Giant does not use VPP. Virtual Pivot Point is licensed to Santa Cruz, and Intense also uses it. Giant uses Maestro, which is very similar to DW link suspension.
  6. Nice thing about a longer top tube, is that you can run a shorter stem while maintaing the required reach from saddle to bar. Shorter stem = Nice handling in tech sections. But they have slackened the head angle as well. This means that they must have shortened the chain stays to keep the wheelbase length at bay. Looking forward to proper reviews on this one.
  7. Still Action Cycles, very nice shop. No Cyclelab in PE.
  8. Harkerville!! You have to ride the red route at least once while you are there!!
  9. Hahaha, you need to remember one thing about being cool, if you have to ask whether something is cool, it isn't.
  10. I hope you have watched Anchorman:
  11. Voltage required? Capacity requried? Contact Hannes Zietsman from Extremelights, I am sure he will be able to help you. http://www.extremelights.co.za/
  12. The problem with lights these days, is that those who are not technically minded, have become lumen-chasers. It is almost like wheel size :whistling: . Everyone is obsessed with lumens, but forget about other very important aspects of a light, such as beam angle of the optic/lens/reflector and the colour temperature of the LED. Apart from that there are other form factors such as the housing quality, and the durability of the handlebar mount etc. I will much rather use a 600 Lumen light with a colour temperature of 4000-4500K and a suitable beam angle, before I use a 2000 lumen spot beam light with 6000-7000K colour temperature.
  13. Very nice review of the new Santa Cruz Heckler: http://www.nsmb.com/2014-santa-cruz-heckler-reviewed/ This review reminded me that my Morewood Shova is all the bike I need and that a mid specced single pivot trail bike is more than enough bike for the vast majority of trail riders out there. In fact I think that many of the keyboard warriors and armchair bike experts will not even be able to push a single pivot trail bike to its limits.
  14. Chain stay length is not the only factor that determines wheelbase, the effective top tube length and head angle also influence the length of the wheelbase. A long wheelbase gives a stable ride, but it compromises handling in tight turns, switchbacks and corners. Therefore bike designers need to find the best wheelbase for the best compromise between stability and handling. Long chainstays means that designers are limited in their freedom in terms of top tube length and head angle selection. Due to the bigger wheels most 29" bikes already have a long enough wheelbase, and in order to make the top tube longer or the head angle slacker, without lengthening the wheelbase, the chainstay length needs to be reduced, which is not possible on all suspension designs. So in short, the longer wheelbase is definitely not an attraction, in fact on many 29" bikes it is a drawback.
  15. Fixed it for you :whistling:
  16. Pfffffft... You just remove your foot out of your mouth to give the other one a chance, don't you?
  17. Generally I don't get involved in wheel size threads, but what you said above just about summarise the small effect of wheel size(relative to other factors, such as skills, fitness and endurance). The rider will still have the biggest influence on performance. Pick your poison, train to get your body and riding style adapted to the bike you have picked and then race the hell out of it.
  18. Are you allowed to smoke weed at Berg & Bush "Great Trek" ??
