  2. I use a platform rack, but I use a 100mm extension on my towbar:
  3. Reynolds 931 Cotic: http://www.thehubsa....tainless-cotic/ Not a fan of the T-bone type seat stays though.
  4. I ride my mtb on the tar during the week for intervals and hill training. I will much rather be fit and replace a rear tyre every 2-3 months than to sit on my arse at home and "spare my tyres" Everytime I see WTB Bronsons or Maxxis Highrollers on sale I buy a few.
  5. You won't be sorry. Just make sure you use fresh beans. I've been using mine for two years now, in conjunction with a hand grinder. The Aeropress made me realise how bad some "baristas" are.
  6. A 3 month old staffie on a Karoo farm living the dream:
  7. No. You need to adhere to the 1.5 rule. If you run a 22 inner ring on 2x setup you should ideally not go bigger than a 33 or 34 outer ring. Otherwise shifting might be compromised. With a 38T outer ring on a 2x setup, you should not go smaller than 26 on your inner ring.

  12. You don't need Strava if you already know you are the fastest out there
  13. Longmore forest is awesome. The climbing keeps you humble.
  14. A Pyga with XX1 build and light wheelset will not be too heavy. In addition to the above, the way a bike handles should be a higher priority than the weight. Especially in the light of what Racman said in the original post. A bike for a non race snake, for the odd stage race but which is also fun on singletrack. However all the bikes mentioned in this thread sounds awesome. Racman, you better post pics once you made the purchase.
  15. I think the Pyga suits your requirements perfectly, and there are quite a few demos around, so give one of the demos a go, and see for yourself.
  16. I don't like the shake & bake action required to empty the Pharos which is one of the reasons I am after the Lido. For espresso the Pharos would be a no brainer, but I mainly use Aeropress, Hario v60 and Bialetti which is another reason why I want the Lido. As far as I understand the Lido was developed for coarser non espresso grinding, while the Pharos is intended at espresso grinding.
  17. I have the stainless steel one, which we use for camping. I use the Aeropress at home as I only drink one cup a day. Next purchase is this bad boy: http://www.orphanespresso.com/Orphan-Espresso-Hand-Built-Coffee-Grinders_c_392.html Just waiting for end of October for the Lido 2 to be available. Those hand grinders grind super fast, they say about 25s for a double.
  18. Just make sure you wear your big-boy pants when you look at the price: http://onlinecoffeeshop.co.za/products/la-marzocco/coffee-machines/la-marzocco-gs3-espresso-machine http://onlinecoffeeshop.co.za/products/la-marzocco/coffee-machines/la-marzocco-gs3-espresso-machine

  22. Regarding the effect of coffee on sleeping: Milk based coffee drinks like cappuccino and lattes will keep you awake much longer than clean espresso. The caffeine and milk combo causes the caffeine to stay in your system for about 4 hours, while the caffeine from a straight espresso will only effect you fir about an hour or so. Filter coffee has a lot more caffeine than espresso based coffee. So avoid that after lunch.
