  1. BreeRivier MTB (newly built for event) as well as Computer Mania (mobile) @ Nuy in the last 3 months. My wife use it after the short route. Its brilliant.
  2. Also ran dry in the summer on my first full loop. One of the farm kids can make lots of money on weekends with a cooler, some ice and coke cans. Especially at a viewpoint.
  3. Unsure what GABRAN is and where it happen. I cant encourage using the tandem enough. It is great fun & a team sport. We found the climbing easy, but slow - there is enough gears. (I would have no concern taking my wife up the Galiber with a tandem) (EDIT: I would rather walk down though.) If the main purpose is to tour in France - then the pilot will miss part of the vista. (Although your stoker might be able to describe it to you afterwards) Try it out. Whatever you end up using - it will be loads of fun. Enjoy!
  4. I would not recommend a tandem as holiday/tourist bike. It require more concentration and will reduce the ability to look around / pointing out attractions. A tandem with a granny gear climb as easy as a mountain bike - so that should be less of a concern.
  5. hehe moer funny But honestly, in our garage is a GS, a Dakar and our little yellow Kymco And me and the missus still fight on a Saturday morning who can use "Sonstraaltjie" (called that because it is such a light in my life) for running to the shops. The big bikes are used for the big rides.
  6. +1 me and the missus both have a toothbrush and clean underwear permanently under the seat. If we found a nice place- then we just use nearest b&b and make it two days.
  7. Edit: 2006 model. With the amount of km's I rode the last year, the bike will probably last me another 30 years.
  8. I'm softening up a bit to the man...
  9. Daai Ouberg moet nie onderskat word nie. Dis n moerse pas.
  10. The sooner someone is prosecuted the better. If there is a honesty system, take video/photo of you entering money/form or of the lack of security etc. I would take day licenses away. Only sell bike boards: It would be possible to include the year + month as part of the board number. that way it can: a) Using the joining year + month can then indicate when it should expire. b) Or the number can indicate the expire year + month - with the advantage that short term boards can be sold while the 'validating' of short and long term members is the same. Also you can sell one month boards instead of day licences. There is a bit of pain around the boards printing etc, but might be an idea...
  11. Ek is op pad. Vroutjie het reeds verblyf bespreek.
  12. How this is encouraged in Ireland: http://www.biketowork.ie/
  13. Is the 80km route going up and down Ouberg on the same road? (Or is it up the district road, and single/jeep track down?)
  14. Ruiters In Swart
  15. We must have her brother then. - Lookalikes and sometimes I think there is a bit of deafness.
  16. Just saw this - how my (ex) club in Dublin found sponsors in 2004. Not a bad idea... From http://autobus.cyclingnews.com/news.php?id=news/2004/jan04/jan31news (scroll down a lot)
  17. Ditto - a must visit. Just make sure the museum is still open, there was rumours about funding etc. I have a hard copy 'manual' and set of maps/routes created by the Italian tourist organisation specifically for cycling in the area. Welcome to borrow/take a look if you want. I'm in CT
  18. The beer at the waterpoint was a nice touch
  19. 60km. Brilliant event. Just proof that one can have loads of fun without cycling up a mountain. No congestion. Shower at the parking was brilliant, my wife used it after the 30km. I like this terrain.
  20. You found them?
  21. This one was done to respond on LAs one

  23. Ditto here Last week my doctor session, antibiotics and cortisone cost half of a vet session, dog antibiotics and dog cortisone this long weekend. (and the vet appointment was half the duration of the doctors appointment). Still scratching my head...
  24. This sound so familiar - I tried it once, but "ek sal self". On the road we use a tandem. Brilliant for levelling the playing field and giving both a killer workout. I really enjoy the 'team sport' aspect. Unfortunately on the MTB it is impossible even though I have carte blance to go ahead on climbs etc whenever I want. (She know I will always wait somewhere). I don't have the head for a SS session and think MTB tandem is crazy.
  25. The hub event page attachment as given in the OP also have everything: https://www.bikehub.co.za/events/event/1245-philadelphia-mtb/
