  1. I see Richard Grant have his article in the "Weg" #115. What a trip he had*.... the kind of stuff that should be done more. * - my claim to fame can now be the beer that is mentioned in the article
  2. Brilliant event. Will definitely be back. The finish vibe was like a market day in France. Had a great time.
  3. hmm, need to get outside on my bike
  4. Some background music while reading: Hi Anyone know about options to catch a train to Matjiesfontein from CT (with bikes) The idea is to MTB back with panniers in ~3 days. Here I have a better idea on routes etc. (Either trough Ceres or Montague), but comments would be appreciated. g
  5. Impressive. My wife asked, pleaded, cried and threatened - and I kept on doing it. Then one day she did it (successfully) before my eyes on our ride before I could stop her. I (we) never did it again.
  6. Also scratching my head why the removal of that would add strength.
  7. Enjoy gummi! Goosebumps standing there in the warsone. Better than a TdF stage in my opinion.
  8. that's indeed the place and those signs were there when I turned around and backtracked. Not the organisers fault, but the first 1 or two riders that got it wrong. Just a note: When I past there the first time, the sun was perfectly from the front, it was downhill and with the amount of dust I could only see the rider profiles in front of me and was actually worried about unseen potholes. No complaints, maybe bigger/more/more than 30m away arrows might help on downhill dusty turns. (No complaints from me. the route killed me anyway)
  9. Mark, the fact that you opened your shop to help my wife with a chain while on a ride yourself, means a lot to me. I already use your shop for services from outside your catchment area because of quality etc, but this will be remembered. Thanks. You are a good man!
  10. The backpack commuting is a very Saffa thing for some reason. the euros is on the other hand, are very much carrier/pannier oriented.

Social tandems was TT, starting almost 2hours after L. That seeding is fine because it contained me. Think you are talking about slow racing tandems?
  14. The kids was the thing what struck me as well: How calm they are in a situation like that, ready to move in behind the leaders when things open up - as if they are used to it. Even joined with the pepper spraying. My line of thought was that what must they had seen before to make them so casual about it here. I pray that they find some mentors that can demonstrate social acceptable behaviour, otherwise we are doomed. So only two are willing to put their hands up and fall on the sword, pffft how brave are all of them now that they are outnumbered.
  15. +1 very good. Freaky what she could find and fix in my legs with no input from me.
  16. The plant grow out of the hole, so the leaves/fruit is outside while the roots is inside the bottle. Edit: so if the hole is smaller it will preserve the moister better on the roots. But you will need small hands to plant/add the soil.
  17. The guy that I get sometimes to help with work on the house saw and taste my veggies and I can see he is keen to do it to help with food on the table - but he has a problem that there is simply no space in the township. So I told him about the vertical gardens and shown him the youtube clips. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghsl7aAzdv8) Told him we will try it for him so see while I try to move the lettuce and other softer vegies out of the main veg patch while having more out of sync sizes for constant supply. So here is my first attempt: Struggled a bit with the first bottle but after that it was very quick. I was saving 2liter bottles for weeks to get this 5, and I estimate I need another 40 to fill that space. That is to much sugar , so this pic is being send to the family and friends to help 'collect'. The 'string' is surprisingly strong - only 3 loose tie-straps around the necks hang that string. The bottles is connected with a 25mm hole made with that flat wood hole drill bits / cutters that is a bit dangerous, rough and slightly to small. Heat the hole with a single match (the missus's idea actually ) and then screw the next one in while it is warm/soft. When the 'prop' goes on afterwards it is very strong. The frozen bottles might not be a bad idea, I just did not want to wait this afternoon and will try a bottle next time. I have a single 72mm round hole on the side. Smaller might be difficult to get my hand in, but will experiment to see if two smaller holes can be used as two exits for two plants. Currently I have two plants in each bottle. I'm trying the seaweed fertiliser in the water to see how it work. I think my man Michael should be able to build this easily with a hook that just hang on the top of the wall and then sell it next to the road. Almost every home have some vibracrete walls like this.
  18. I like. Blackberg instead of Swarberg? tsk tsk http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swartberg
  19. brilliant! - is it yours Icycling?
  20. A couple of years ago after I was attacked, I was asked to donate money to the BMX project which I did. Sadly the problem still hang around. One would think someone from the community see the opportunity to put up a 'beach lifesaver' tower there and ensure security during peak cycling hours. (Advertising space on such a tower must be worth something and it should not be difficult to find monthly donations to cover a salary or two.)
  21. https://plus.google.com/photos/111324164786249356699/albums/5983711995755930513?banner=pwa and there was beer
  22. An extended wine-tasting session Saturday caused a post-mortem ride Sunday morning. That together with the extreme heat caused a bailout by me and the missus halfway up the waterfall. A quick coke at the nursery and the single-track back along the river was absolutely brilliant. Found the tracks excellent and well marked. All the little switchbacks and bridges make it really fun. Will definitely back, on a cooler weekend though. Thanks to the friendly help in Euodia, all the track builders & landowners to make it possible
  23. I was also scratching my head and wondering who gets the yersey. All tje arguments are there but no decision.
