  1. Have a Tacx, Soooo flippen boring though. Tempted to sell it, but know it may be used in Winter. Tacx are decent, and come from C.Lab. was around R2k in 09 iirc
  2. From my understanding, and this NOT my field of expertise, I think the argument misses the vital point of metabolic rate- If you starve yourself, ie- miss meals, have the usual cr@p, but in micro servings, dont eat the right things at all, then yes, your metabolism will slow down. Eating meals, the same calories over an equal period of time equals the same result is fair, I'd agree. Ok, so a few months back, I was at my Endocrinologist, as my Thyroid levels were out, as my med dosage was too low. I was training regularly, and i admit, not following the cleanest of diets, but trying, yet i was still packing on the kg's. Long story short, your thyroid controls your metabolism, I dont have one (thanks Cancer), so i need artificial drugs to produce the hormone that controls the metabolism (again simplified, but thats how i understand it). the Doctor and I discussed this, and upped my dosage in line with what the Bloods showed. I have found it a lot easier to loose weight, by eating cleaner, and yes, smaller portions These drugs (tertroxin)boost the metabolism, and when you eat less, and your metabolism wants to slow, these drugs over ride that tendency, and keep it boosting. If ya want to look, go and look at some of the fat burners, and how they can eff up your thyroid, as the contain a part (micro amount of the drug), then your working thyroid becomes dependent the artificial hormone to activate the metabolism, once off the fat burners your thyroid is stuffed. When my dosage is too high, you proper get the jitters, and become edgy, as you would on some fat burners, not nice at all. So thats what i know, use, loose it. Cheers
  3. Paging, Paging Nathrix. Where are you Nathrix. I think he is still chasing that dolly up the spruit at the botanical gardens, the one from the hub ride in Dec
  4. In Isolation yes, maybe. I've owned and rode enough carbon, and alu bikes, to stand by this conviction. In fact, even done the steel bike bit too. It's not surprising that Carbon is progressing and selling at the rate it is. Would not go alu on a road bike ever again. Thats just me, some dudes dig the buzz from a steel or chormolly frame, or like alu. That said, I love my GT Zaskar Pro MTB which is alu. Different applications.
  5. Afraid that your comparison doesnt work with cars. Suspension advances and so on rule that out. Simply ride an alu road bike then a carbon, and you have the answer. simple really!!!!!
  6. Go Ti. Thomson Tune Ti has some inherent flex, and so on, can irritate though.
  7. Thanks Mate. I've gotta drop at least 7kg's. I'm competitive by nature. So I'm gonna ace this
  8. Go Look for a Raleigh RC 6000. And yes, i did just say Raleigh. eeek
  9. Ok, Remember at 94.7 Time, some dude did some spread sheet where you could enter your group, and start time. We need this application PS: Seems like all hubbers are in IT. SO where are you geeks?
  10. Yeah, good move I need to loose a few Kg's myself Currently in at 94. 1.94 CM tall. Need to loose around 6 or 7 kg's so i dont get dropped by the bunches on hills. Not cool!
  11. To be honest, there is very little between the XT's and Cross Trails, except that the Mavic's tend to cost a bit more for bearings and body's etc. Wouldnt change them.
  12. Really and Truly, there is nothing wrong with Cross Trail's. You'll need spend big $$$$ to get major gains there. Besides, they are bullet proof, and for heavy okes like us, they great. I'd say stick with them! I'm also running a set of cross trails.
  13. Sure. Pick me up from the airport around 3:30. Eish. Would love to.
  14. I think that its fantastic. A whole weekend of racing. thank you. Get to ride 100k, on Sat and then 45 on Sunday. Brilliant!
  15. Just because I was riding with a Hangover and forgot to dress properly, C'mon! But seriously, I'd report that
  16. Just off Conrad Drive. Its mid spruit. Its where "that parking lot" is Bryanston Side will be VERY wet, and also not the safest always
  17. Its happening tomorrow from around 330, at Fratelli's
  18. Bits of Deore and Alivo, and some X5 and so on, not a purebred
  19. Yeah, I actualy saw one at my LBS. Its a nice looking rig. No doubt. Very blingy, and looks like it costs a lot more than it does. It appears to be the 29r version of the Avalanche, from a Heirachy point of view. I was truly going to buy one, I own a Zaskar pro already (26r). I felt the spec is a bit low (but that can be changed in time) and the weight a bit too dumpy. I still dig them, and if they had one specced with SLX or X7, for around 10k, I would buy it without batting an eyelid.
  20. No, Really, really. I can make a ride from 16h30 this Thurs. Pref, the Bryanston side start. Any takers?
  21. Mountain biker! Prolly weighs a ton,
  22. Turn the Ipod up. Oh Wait UCI banned those. Q20
  23. I'd suggest you look at somehting from the Merida Range. See if you can push the budget to somehting Carbon- Scultura. I would look for a bike with at least a 105 Groupset. Merida Juliet
  24. Sabie Classic is generally a lot dryer than the Experience. I last did classic in 09. If i recall, I was a on Cross Mark at the front and a Larsen at the rear. You want something grippy on loose over hard. Mud isnt such an issue in Feb as in Dec.
