  1. I ride with Club100. Ridden with other clubs before. Zula hits the nail on the head in all respects. Overall, riding with them has improved my riding immeasurably, skills, technique etc.
  2. I've got a 2x10 on the 29 and a 3x9 on the 26r It is much of a muchness, you'll need to preselect your gears smartly though with the 2x10. As with a 3x10, the Granny gear, is rarely used, unless the going gets tough. So effectively, you're using 10 gears most of the time. The 2x10 runs out of gears at the top end, but on a 29r, momentum carries you. Its what we get used to I suppose.
  3. See you Gents tomorrow
  4. I am currently riding said wheelset. My previous bike was running on Mavic Ksyrium's. The mavics are lighter, and I think all round a better set I'd look for a set of those, myself.
  5. Affirmative on both counts. and have done before.
  6. Yeah, I heard about the both the stories. It brings up the issue of partial road closure. I'm aware that a full road closure isnt always possible, but then the marshalling ought to be better, don't you think. I really did feel quite vulnerable today, it may as well have been a open ride.
  7. Sounds sweet. 26-32 is a VAST difference. I'm pretty happy at 30 my self. This Tues, I am keen
  8. Sounds good. What sort of avg speed?
  9. Still reeling from that trauma. You Bergies showed me!
  10. Looks nice. Quite Pimp. Do want. When you're big and in Gauteng, one day. You can get a 29r
  11. Got a Vertex SE. Awesome bike! Great Brand and good backing in SA.
  12. Sexy Sexy
  13. The Campag Zonda's are a lekker wheelset. I've got Campag's on my Bianchi. Nice and light, and smooth. Alternatively, try some Fulcrum's. Not sure how much you're spending, I was chatting to a guy, and he said Zipp 404's would be great. Mines a 928 Mono-Q B4P. The c2c is much more comfy, the Mono-Q is very agressive. For grouppo, you must go campy on your Bianchi. Finish it with some look Keo Carbons. Will be tasty, thats my setup. i love it!
  14. I don't know what your budget is, and if you can stretch it. But, I've recently taken delivery of a Rocky Mountain, Vertex SE 29r, and I am loving, its a whole lot lighter than the Giant, and generally well specced, but it is a bit more. Initially i too was sold on the XTC, until i got my hands on one of these!
  15. Going to skip this weekend. too cold too early for road. going to mtb. I'm soft
  16. Real World Experience. I am running a 2x10 SRAM setup on my 29r, and a Shimano XT triple on my 26r. So a direct comparison is not easy. However, here is what I have noted, and a lot of it has already been said. Most critically. ALL combinations you have on a 2x10 are useable. I.E. no funny angles of the chain. The biggest thing that you need to get used to on a 2x10 is making sure that you preselect your gears well, and read the trail well. the last thing you want is to be in the wrong gear before a change in terrain, especially with only a double up front, and having to move through 10 ratios at the rear, to get an easier gear. 99% of the time is spent in the big ring. The granny, is still a real granny gear. The result is; you're invariably, not going to drop to granny, you're going to stick it out in your 39, so you need to shift fast at the rear to maintain an easy stroke. Make sense, I hope? I firmly believe a 2x10 is great on a 29r, when you've got epic amounts of momentum on your side. I think on a 26r it may be tougher. I do not know what your torque outputs are like between the two groupsets, I suspect a triple may allow the average rider to extract the torque better? A Skilled rider will be able to extract similar figures from a 2x10, luckily, i have rolling speed to make up for a lack of skill!
  17. Will you have one of those little pouches on your Top Tube? I wont, as it'll ruin the look of my book.
  18. Sounds lekker to me. Wont be wearing compression garments though. I'm too tough for that k@k Kidding
  19. Ok, Lekker, I am cool for Saturday. PM me the details or post em here. Very keen
  20. I am keen. I assume given the Speeds you're indicating, a Road Ride? V.Keen infact!!
  21. 1 Tank may not ruin a Catalytic Conv. I will assure you, continous use will. Catalytic Converter failure is not covered by an M.Plan because, it is so easy to pick up abuse. the Cat. has a sensor to the ECU. Its controlled electronically. I wouldnt advise you continue to do so.
  22. You are positively WRONG!!!!!! Unleaded in an old lead engine, is far less harmful than LRP in an unleaded engine. LRP will block the catalytic converter. Your engine managment light will come on, and your performance may go into limp mode. I am in the Motor Industry, trust me on this one!
  23. Wow. I was actually riding right there on Saturday at 7:30. Took Big Balls for you to do that. Shew. Be careful guys. The sentiment of what you did was right, and i get that, but you've got to be careful. Should have kept him in your sights, and gotten proper backup. Dont know if these okes are armed, or dangerous. A bike is not worth a life. (okay some bikes are ) Well done, I hope the owner gets his bike back
  24. Have any of you actually seen the "Budget" Momsem's in the metal? Spec is a joke. Who fits alivo anyway? The frames look like Makro jobbies. AND- I've mailed Momsen, before I went to the shops to investigate, and they never had the courtesy to reply. So screw 'em. I've gone else where, and I'm happy about it.
  25. I am also getting them, and I seem to be getting the same offers from Westrand Cycles. Except, I've only gotten the offer once from WR, and I've actually shopped there, so its not an issue. I've never even been to TdF cycles. Eish, Spam FTL
