  1. Fantastic. PS Marius: Next year, we give those okes in the tent between us a solid hiding for talking and moving all night!
  2. @slowbee. Hehe, True stroy that. Here is my race account any how. We arrived early in gaborone, so we messed around, so on. Friday night was Registration at the Yacht Club. This was well organised, we got given a Free Carbo Dinner, and (purchased a lot of St. Louis) Race packs were phenomenal, cycle top, race shirt, beanies, and a some other bits and bobs. The race itself started at 9AM Sharp, and we were off. Course on Day one was good, lots of single track, and not so much of thorns and sand. I think people give the race a bad wrap for tons of sand and thorns, but this is the desert damn it, so its to be expected !!!! Overall it was survivable and not too frustrating. My legs look very pretty with intricate red patterns emblazoned on the shins . But the course was serious fun We found a few Rhino's while riding, and stoped and took a look, very cool. The warter points every 30 odd Km were so well stocked. Seriosuly good, and the tech support was good, (only needed chain lube though). We rode with some cool folk we found on the route. you know who you are.... The overnight was pretty good, showers were hot, and queues not to hectic, but we still got in at a civilised hour. The generator faling and stopping the water for 40mins sucked. Food was adequate, and beer was in good supply. Band was ..... fell asleep. We took the luxury tent option which gave us a matress, bedding, and lantern, table and chair. Then day 2. Course was mostly downhill, proper. a few rocky sections, and lots of fun. couple of climbs, but nothing like sabie, or even close to Magalies. A few small patches of farm road gave me the chance to put my road power down and break some gaps. And then it was over We were discussing yesterday. it would be even cooler if this was a 3 day event. PS: Okes say you should do this race on a full sus. They not wrong, but a HT copes just as well, feeling a bit tender still though. How was that?
  3. Just got back from the Subaru Kalahari Challenge. Was so well organised, and such a cool jol. Not too tough overall, and its not that far from JHB. Think I'm hooked (not only by the thorns) and will be back. Well done to the GCC. PS: Awesome race pack, worth the entry alone!
  4. So I saw this advertised on Supercycling entries. Mate and I decided to do the ride, since we wanted to do 60Km of riding, not a club ride. Missioned out to Parys flippen early to do this race. We get there, and there are a hand full of riders, literally. Not a problem though, guy announces the 60km start, and we head off. Lekkker Route is ok, i guess, then, becomes tar for a while, back onto the dirt, and then tar again. In total this was a good 15km of tar. But we think, 60km, 15km of tar is no biggie, we continue. Long story short, we finish the race, and both our Odo's read 48km. 15 of which are tar, So we trekked, 150km's to do a 33km MTB race. We asked the race organizers, and they didnt seem to give a $h1t. So dont make the same mistake as us, and dont bother with that race. A club ride and coffee, would have been much better.
  5. Need Route Maps Badly, heading there tomorrow, pls help
  6. The Merida Scultura 904- Has FULL Shimano 105 and is full carbon. Quite Stiff, and agressive. I'm riding one. The only downside (if you want to classify it) is the Wheels. Hubs are 105, rims are a bit heavy though. Its a nice sexy looking ride.
  7. u presume correct. Cant wait okes. hope the fork holds out
  8. Will you guys be able to assist with a quick saddle adjustment if needs be? I am keen to visit the much spoken about CWC
  9. I'm in. Brilliant Idea. I've been lucky enough to survive a huge smash with a car, so agreed lets raise awareness
  10. Vittoria Rubino, love those
  11. Havent had that problem before, and used the Thule. However. It gives the max speed rating of 120km/h. Stick to that. I was running late to a ride, and did 100 and plenty, the whole carrier shifted on the ball bashing the fork of the bike into my bumper, not cool!
  12. GT without a doubt. The Zaskar is an incredible frame. I have the Zaskar pro. So stiff, and responsive
  13. I think its a great idea. I'd support it.
  14. Oooh, like the thinking here, Im going to give the paste a try, then if that fails its coke can! Which is better, coke or coke zero?
  15. As title suggests. I've only had this problem with my GT's. Any suggestions to fix this. I've changed to a Allen key type Clamp, from the QR standard item, to no big difference. This is so frustrating, and its actually ruining my ride experiences, Suggestions most welcome!
  16. cant compare the stiffness of the soles, even if you go like for like. Eg. Entry Level Shimano RO, vs Entry Level Shimano MO. Day and night!
  17. BASIC and you wont beat it, have them on road and Mtb. Cateye Velo8. Functions: Time, Distance, Odo, avg, max, and cal. I think they bout R199 these days. I swear by mine.
  18. Did 75km's on East Rand with some others, wind was cape town like, but without the scenery.
  19. they're a rip off, and i was snapped like a billion times, but there is only 1 pic showing. I mean WTF, these okes should know im famous, and besides, i only ride the races fro two reasons. 1- the medal, and 2- the pics. In that order. On a serious note they kinda pricy
  20. u should be working harder, sweat it out so u dont need to pee
  21. thanks all except noche, whose will be punished next weekend, so best beware, them legs are getting back fast.
  22. I am running finish line at the moment, and hell its messy. Usewhite lightening (Epic Ride) on the MTB, can i use it on the road, or what else can i use?
  23. Hi, To be honest, i wasin the same boat not too long ago, knew lots about mtb,but not much on road. I settled on a bike with Shimano 105 Groupset. I dont think you should settle for less. Its very good and well priced. The Raleigh 6000Alu makes a lot of sense at 12k, or second hand look for something with 105, its a good entry and all you need for a long time. my 2c
  24. Location Hoedspruit says it all. Area is only good for wildlife, not style
  25. Oops my bad, me thinks it is 61cm, sorry
