  1. A Proper Bike Set was the best money I've spent on the bike in ages. Cyclefit are brilliant. That said, it was simply tweaking, as opposed to major changes, but the small things add up
  2. So, in a moment of questionable rationality, I've entered the Sabiexpeience Lite- Solo. What tyres should i run for this event? I did the pre ride running a Mountain King 2.2 up front and a Race King 2.2 at the rear? I found the rear to be a bit skittish, especially with loose over hard. Worth Noting.- I'm on a GT Zaskar Pro. So its a Hard Tail. Will use this most likely, but possibly a full sus. if things pan out. UST - obvious setup. Your esteemed opinions, and feedback welcome! Regards D
  3. @Stretched at Birth- Quite Correct, when you're riding for postion 190th as opposed to 350th, it doesnt really matter. THat said, surely, a race of this stature should have a proper timing system? Or am I wrong? Just saying
  4. This sucks, Started one Group Back A3, not A2 where i was seeded, now my result shows an A2 Start, so my result is actually like 10 minutes worse. 2h43, not 2h33
  5. Thanks for all the support on the Route. Was Amazing!
  6. Those things weighed a Ton. 200kg odd Well done to Team Zest, We rocked it. 2 pushers and a driver, 5 hour 40. Not too bad. Well done
  7. So What? Most races have a few k margin of error.
  8. I did the 50k MTB, and i was pleasantly surprised, after everyone said how rubbish the MTB race is. You are not going to find a scenic route in JHB, so take it for what it is, not what it isnt. A bit out of JHB there are tons of good routes. Cant complain, was fun. Onto tomorrow!
  9. Was really brilliant value for Money, and it has me sold on the lite-solo. Anyone else doing the lite? as a team, or solo?
  10. @cat-i. I was in that Group. The 6.3ft guy on the Zaskar. I though that was a great day out. 8h30 was a long time though. But guys must take it for what it is. A long slow ride! I do beleive that some people were not riding in their depths, and should have been on the coffee ride, but we all survived. PS: Did i propose to you at the top of that moster climb in the afternoon? After we discussed bling?
  11. Eish, that makes my 2010 Zaskar Pro "old" and out of Date. For sale R50.00incl
  12. Doing Both. But Racing the MTB, and then doing the road race in a cow suit for Choc, so it wont be at race pace. Looks to be a weekend of like 10 hours riding
  13. Hi Rudolph, and any one else who is keen. How about 7:30 this sunday from the Linksfield square shopping centre (opp the school) on Club street? Let me know if you're keen with a PM. to me
  14. Hows about tomorrow 16h45- 18h10. Message me if you're keen, I'd dig a ride tomorrow,
  15. sorry bro, just got to the hub now. Mad work day. Lets try for next week?
  16. That 35 k is around 2 hours, and can be extended some more. Perahps we do this as a Morning ride one weekend first, incase we playing with time and light (evenings). I'd be keen perahps next weekend, or i can do an afternoon this week too.
  17. What I generally do is meet on the Linksfield side, at the shops, head on the single track next to the golf course, then go into St. Andrews area Senderwood, Cut across, through the farm, and into morning hill, ride up to the hill, and go off road, then there is about 200m of portage up to the top of the ridge to the cell phone mast, then ride atop the ridge, and descend into the golf course on the other side, and ride out to the dip, and then in the veld next to the police station, and then climb back out the the club terrace centre, and back to the shops on club street single track. Its about 35km, but not easy. R U keen?
  18. Sounds good, The ridge, and giloolys? from around 16h45?
  19. Lies, its some guys from club, they have Dogma's lol
  20. Keep it going guys.
  21. Your Calves Ought to Tell you what gear you are in, worst case, glance backwards.
  22. Group G. 7:04 Up from Group R. Not complaining
  23. Ye, Sure, I will just swap you those for my Cheapie Shimano 105 Wheels. They dont make that noise, promise. Dude, that sound is freaking awesome, why'd you hate it?
  24. Right so... Got a bit of a family history with cycling. I was going through my Old Man's garage, and amongst his cycling stuff, I found a Panasonic DX5000. Now, if it is to be believed, that is quite a piece of kit I have stumbled upon. Got me thinking.... My Dad tells me it was a bike which belonged to Ertkies Bezuidenhout, and he bought it at the time. Its looks cool with its silver and pink paint work. Styling! A Retro Bike build? Bike is kitted with Shimano 600 Groupset, some tasty looking Mavic's and complete with a LeTurbo Saddle. It actually looks kinda sweet. Will post pics when its in a good state. My question is... Should i embark on this as a project bike, getting it back to spec, and great cond, or am I pouring my money into an endless pit here? Also, how easy is it to get parts for a bike of this vintage.
  25. If its any Consolation. Crater Cruise was horrific for most okes. Heat, wind, rain, hail. heavy day out
