  1. Yes go boy, XT FD works better than most, no matter what leavers you use.
  2. Ja but I think it still means you got to stop to feed can't do it while moving. But needs to be checked out. Will be a biiiig change if it is allowed. Remember you are not even allowed to get water/drinks from ppl at waterpoints while you are moving on your bike.
  3. Ja but the reason you want to use SRAM is because it works. So RD needs to be SRAM!! Shimano are trying, but still lot there yet!!!!!
  4. Still not allowed to feed on the go as far as I know, so the stops still need to be stops. I think, but may be wrong.
  5. Drink LOTS the night before, keep everyone awake and pass out in your tent at about 01:00. Wake up dehydrated and make your way to the start drinking all you can on the way. Feel like death for the 1st 3hrs and come back to life in the last 3hrs. So your body thinks you are doing a 3hr ride. Should put you in contention for a sub 6 hr DC. Or do want everyone else tells you. Drink and eat all you can.
  6. Do these bikes ever go off road? Where are the brush scratches and pedal scrapes from the rock gardens etc?
  7. Ja but his course will cost more that a new upgraded fork. So the issue is you pay your money, and as long as you know what you are getting, you take your chances. Remember most "Basic" forks cost more than most entry level bikes...................
  8. Tis a race, road closures et al. So the normal rules do not apply. Racing is racing, maybe you got to see for the first time what happens up front. It is a free for all, you ride your bike, watch your line and control your space. This is what is normal and happens all the time. Hopefully you are not one of those riders that shout for ppl to "Hold Your Line", if you are ......welllllllll then case closed. If it is too hot in the kitchen get out.

  10. On another note. DO NOT GET A GF FROM ANYONE!!!! Why? because the agent's support is K......K got a mate that is still trying to get his frame replaced after what is it now 4/5 months........ WTF, he has been in contact with all and sundry, including the principal in overseas land. They say work through the distributor. OK so after 3 months worth of fighting the get him a frame and guess what.......... It is the wrong size!! So another month later he is still waiting. However if CL can sort out the support then ...........who knows....
  11. and the relish???
  12. Simple, If you not a member of PPA you will not get a seeding. To be seeded in PPA events you need to be a member. If you are a fun rider you will most probably be doing PPA events, so sign up with them. They are also effectively a club so effectively you need to be a member of their club to enjoy the benefits of their organized events. you can join PPA as a club as well and affiliate to CSA through them. But then if you are into MTB and want to enjoy the befits of what some of these clubs offer you need to be a member of them as well. Just the way it is. Remember you need to join a club to join CSA, for how long still I am not sure, but you can belong to many clubs (you can only affiliate to CSA through one tho) Oh yes and if you are a member of PPA you also automatically get a better seeding in the PnP Cape Argus compared to non PPA and non seeded members.
  13. New Rotors need new Pads and the a period to bed in. Old Pads with new Rotors will take longer than new/new to bed in, if at all. Check your old rotors and you will see wear patterns, New rotors have no wear patterns and need to bed in with the pads. I find the same thing every time I change pads, but this don't last long.
  14. So what is the diff between whipping out the credit card and buying on credit? Most PPL buy bikes using a credit card and in most cases this is even more expensive than buying on fixed credit terms. Just a question.
  15. I prefer the 34 but for different reasons. It allows me to stay in the big and middle blade longer. I also think the ration is more or less the following 1 tooth at the back = 4 teeth at the front. More or less so don't kill me on this one.
  16. However the above considered, if you are a pommie you will call them "pant" and not "pants" They also bastardized Aluminum to what it is today.
  17. Rudy Projects or Addidas
  18. 1.83m So a medium I presume, but the roadies will let you know, just remember there are many other factors - Stem length, crank length, top tube length etc. but medium should do. Or a large if you want to stretch.
  19. Cool will keep the faith. Hoping to get on the bike tomorrow am. Let's see how it goes.
  20. Ok I have been of the bike totally for about 8 weeks and before this i was a weekend warrior for at least a year. Ding a 3-5 hr ride one ore twice a month. Now I am 15kg overweight and and. Went for a ride today and nearly died. Only 25km and took strain going up the hill on the way home. Damn, it is normally done sitting chatting at 26 - 30km/h. Now I barley made it up. So the Question is............ How long will it take to get back to doing 100km at 28-30km/hr. What sort of break-in/ramp up should one do? And Ja will reduce the carbs intake to 1/2L beer per day. (Rome was not built in a day you know)
  21. ja but for the rest of us non googlers please.
  22. Was the chain also replaced? If not there is your issue. Repace cassette = must replace chain and normaly this means front chainrings will also be shot. Life of a drivetrain depends on use and conditons. I have had to replace chains after as little as 500km, and then with better care up to 1500km. But then I have had to change everything, chain, blades and casette. Chain jumpingis normally due to new chain on old casette or visa versa. And Chainsuck due to worn chain or blades or both. My 2c's
  23. Sorry I am missing something. after all is said and done, Sh!t happens. And a Club Exco member responded on the forum. So afraid of meeting, post pics for all to see. If not, why not? Looks like I am too doff to understand, must be a northern thing. Damn, if I had a gripe and was too afraid to meet with the club Exco committee, I would pull an annon posting on the HUB and be done with it. Ho well.........
  24. Invest in beer then you will get a boep and then it wil stay put. Otherwise tighten it properly.
