  1. Gecko Cycles or CWC
  2. PPA seeding is confused. I have still not ridden a race this year and my road seeding has gone from B to J to C to K and my MTB from B to K now to D. WTF??
  3. Snip Coming down a guy from Team Aurecon came flying past - what I suspect was the lead man for the Vets racing bunch (%). I broke away from the group and rode with him for a while - until the beginning of Vissershok - my legs couldn't go anymore. Swallowed a Gu and hoped for the best. The rest of the Racing Vets and Ladies passed me at the base of Vissershok as well..... oh and guess who I spot - one of the guys we dropped along the way. He just latched on the back of the Vets bunch and wheel sucked all the way to Vissershok. That irritated me. Snip what is the difference?
  4. Disk brakes, rim brakes? if they are binding you will see or hear it. With rim brakes you can release the cable/calipers and spin the wheel and see if there is a difference. With Disk brakes you can normally look down at the caliper and see if the pads are rubbing. I know mine rub a bit sometimes as one of the pistons don't always retract right away. Remember MTB feels and just is waaaay harder than a road bike. 30kmph on a road bile with the same effort on an MTB will prolly be about 23-4kmph on MTB for the same route if you are lucky.
  5. So PPA is not so bad Hu?
  6. And Lemmer said.......................................?
  7. The very next race on the calender after the Epic. It is not that "Epic" if you have done the training.
  8. So what's the issue? the price goes up as things are fixed.;-)
  9. And this year after renewing my PPA membership my CSA licence just appeared in the mail. Nice
  10. PPA is a club and they were accommodated and they tried to accommodate CSA. But PPA works, organizes races, does seeding etc. and males money. So what they will probly go the rout of AMA rider. Do thier own thing and allow CSA to sanction a few of their races, but for the rest........ They will give the riders the option (remember a while ago, you were threatened with sanction if you as a CSA rider rode a PPA event)
  11. Off Topic, but what is the deal with Cape Storm being bought by FA? Is it so and what will happen to the brands?
  12. I like Period!
  13. Medal, shmdal. I agree there are prolly some dudes/dudets that that want a medal. why I don't know, I took them in the beginning......... My Epic medals, even my podium placings at nationals and worlds (in another sport) are somewhere in a box. But they are a waste of time and money. If you want a medal, ask for one online.
  14. Had the same **** this morning on the botlary. Just before the Kuilsriver golf club, Wielle's group rolled by us, just before the hill from Hazendal's side. So the slow down then try to race up the "hill" fkn dudes riding 5 abreast hanging onto each other's wheels almost to the median line. so se try to inform them that they are being stupid/dangerous/whatever. WTF. the give us the @#$%$^. Dingbats one and all. There is way more than enough shoulder to ride 2, even three abreast. Worst thing is the slowest weakest riders were in the middle of the road, them that's gonna make *** decisions in an emergency. This is a high speed corner for cars. they could be so easily taken out. But NO we are old dudes, know the show, are the ****. We rule the road. We should expect better judgement from the old pros................
  15. Same question again, Why?? If you cant do about a 1000km without a service you are gonna pay. If everything is serviced before no issue. What can go, Pads, Chain (not really, but if you want to conserve drive train maybe replace midway), shock (all the big boys are there. My Manitou started loosing air one time and it was sorted overnight at less than a bike shop normally charges). done a few and paid for all the bells and whistles the first time and never again.
  16. Got me there too. I agree it is needed, but looking at the plans I can't see R 55M.
  17. I have done a few, Knysna to Ctn and loops. Loops are better for serious MTB'rs. ho well. At this late stage you are in K@K period. No one, bar a few wanting to get discount deals, will take an entry now. Soooory
  18. I was going to say "The name on my forehead is...." but thought the better of it. Good luck trying to get it back. Or better still claim, claim, claim.
  19. I always thought it was a thread.
  20. All the more reason for bike shop owners to install point of sale system and reprice and bar code all items using in-store coding over the supplier bar codes. you have to price the items anyway so do it properly. Problem solved.
  21. Was there an answer to this. looks like between 3&4k
  22. I am 98kg and still run 1.8-2bar, but it is tricky now as on some seated climbs with dips in them i bottom out. so at 110kg i would say run between 2 and 2.2 bar depending on tire. My rule of thumb is if I bottom out seated on a climb grinding I am probably just under pressure. When going down I am normally out of the saddle so a the legs are also part of the shock system so not much of an issue there.
  23. Not really, I saw 1ST 50KM and stopped there. My thoughts were awesome. Keep going! We forget what it was like in the beginning.
  24. Damn, you guys are cheapskyts! we have been paying R 20 or is it 25 for many moons already at Kilarney on a Wednesday evening and then that is only for max 1hr if the light holds. To date no one has complained yet.
