  1. So Amoryns, ry jy ladies groep? Kyk dan uit vir nie een nie maar TWEE WW tandems.....
  2. On a more serious note. Fisrt and best option, to both save weight and improve performance I would aggree with TitusTi and get a tubby wheelset. Next up I would go for a nice stem, hanlde bar and seatpost, Easton or Ritchey WCS. Other pedals you can look at would be Time RXS Ti Carbon or the Look Keo equivalant. Zero Gravity brakes will be a big weight saving, but they are quite expensive so if there is a budget limit then they would not be 1st on my list (though I am very happy with my set...)
  3. Ag nee Mike man! Gedag jou Afrikaans is goed.... "PAP" means it might be flexing too much.... time for a new frame then. Perhaps you can recommend a good place to get the frame checked?
  4. Hi Jean. I feel your pain, my very first league tandem race, we killed ourselves up the only tough climb on the day, only to drop our chain as we changed on the top, causing us to miss the race winning split. Like Mike said, perhaps you can just ellaborate as to when and how the chain drops, from my experience you need to have good communication with your stoker when changing on the front derailleur, as putting to much pressure (power) on the pedals while changing can very easily lead to dropping your chain. I would recommend you make give Mark Wheedall a call. (Sorry, don't have his nr. perhaps Bikemax of Mdk can help). Not only does he have a excellent reputation as a good bike mechanic, but he also used to be a very serious tandem racer, with a ACT tandem win under his belt I think. Good luck, and keep us posted. If you do concider buying a new one, there's nothing wrong with a Titan, but a few up grades on nice wheels and perhaps a better groupset and nice tandem specific carbon fork will make the ride even sweeter. Perhaps the new Tiagra 2007 groupset would be a good option if budget is a concern, just yesterday built up a new Schinn with the new Tiagra groupset, really good looking groupset and a nice feature that will be handy on the tandem are the gear indicators on the top of the Sti hoods.
  5. Not yet but did see this on PPA site - Please note that no prize money will be awarded in the female racing team category' date=' nor the racing tandem category, due to insufficient entries having been received in these categories. However, there will be a special prize for the first all-female team to cross the finish line ? please be at the prizegiving![/quote'] Pity, I think the route is well suited to tandems, only that beast of a last climb up "Op de Tradouw" should be tough... But do not fear.... This is a notice one year in advance: WORCESTER WHEELERS / MANIC CYCLES will most definately be entering a mixed tandem team for next year. Applications can now already be done....(mdk555 - how about a sponsor for such a team? ) Applications can be e-mailed to francois@maniccycles.co.za Good luck to all on Saturday, see you all out on the road.
  6. Not only am I keen! I'm willing to put money on it that PLENTY of my club members will come along to support! Wish Killarney was just a LITTLE bit closer, then we would pop in there more often too.... Yes, PLEASE organise above plan for winter, I'm pretty sure it will be well supported. Just one question, do I need to start selling track bikes then too in the new MANIC CYCLES bicycle shop in Worcester.....
  7. Come on then Bikemax..... Organise a good winter training program, incorporating plenty of track training / racing. With a great facility at the Bellville velodrome, we should use it more in winter months?
  8. Verraaier.... Next year I want to put together a tandem team for the DC. Any body interested, let me know....or just keep it in the back of your head after finishing this year.... Anybody know of any tandem team entries for this year?
  9. You can add to Daikin team as a darkhorse to finish on the podium at least...... Might not be able to climb with the "laaities" but with age comes experience, and pacing yourself over 200km takes a lot of that.... But looking at the team put together by H2C2 / UCT, they have to be favourites in my books. WW has suffered a few unfortunate losses, but we will have 4 teams out there, some more competative than others.
  10. Freewheeler is talking about Michael Pepper. Thanks Domenic - my mistake. Domenic for moderator..... All in favour say I....
  11. Hey GROOTSEUN. Whats up with the new avitar? "gogga maak vir baba bang?"
  12. Well done CW (Jnr)!! As for the kit...Apart from the pictures of the "big 5" the Green white and gold colours look good.
  13. Worcester Wheelers klub het al klaar 'n non-official under-chairman (vir as WW rondkuier) ...noem homself "die agterspeen" Yep, I would very gladly hand over the reigns to "die agterspeen". We are very fortunate to have a wide spectrum of riders, if only we can get a few more talented youngsters (like Nellie) involved so we can start producing the champions of tomorrow....
  14. [quote name=ZippIt Now I need to get back into shape for DC' date=' Tour de Winelands and season ending Jailbreak. (100km TT as part of a WW tri-athlon team...cant wait!!)[/quote] Where do you get the details of the jailbreak race from? http://www.jailbreak.co.za/ Two distances, 1.1km swim / 50km bike / 12.5km run or 2.2km swim / 100km bike / 25km run. Can do it as a team too if you're like me and swim like a brick.... or don't particularly like running (the wheel has come to stay! )
  15. Was just a bit over enthusiastic in my aspproach to a railway croissing on wet roads, front wheel slipped and a few riders piled into and over me. Hip also badly bruised but fortunatley nothing broken, including the recently oped wrist. Now I need to get back into shape for DC, Tour de Winelands and season ending Jailbreak. (100km TT as part of a WW tri-athlon team...cant wait!!)
  16. It's cause they are SUPER wheels, absolutely brilliant! As fpr my ribs, its pretty bad, sneezed last night and thought somebody had stuck a knipe through my rib cage. Did a light training ride on Tuesday, but can't do any deap breathing, so will be taking it easy to hopefully be able to hlep my team mates at the DC. So there goes my Hell & Back..
  17. Looks like the rain did not hinder you much Donkey. Congrats on getting on the podium at Bonnievale.
  18. I'm sure Marius will too....
  19. Nice Pics Grootseun & TitusTi. Hey Marius, where and when did you excape from the bunch? I did not even notice you were away, quite surprised to catch you up the road, looks like those new Easton wheels are working well. (sorry for spoiling your party on that railway crossing and hope you and your bike are ok) Me, a cracked rib, lots of bruises from other bikes riding into and over me. (There goes my plans for riding To Hell & Back this coming weekend) Off to the Manic Cycles now to go and get a look at the actual damage. (fortunately for me, my wheels are fine - phew!!)
