  1. Burry is a awesome and very talented rider' date=' but to compare him to Lance.. Lance will destroy burry without breaking a sweat.[/quote'] ? Hmmm.... on a not so technical course maybe. Dont underestimate Burry or any of the top mtbkers capabilities. ? ? ? Will be quite interesting to watch for sure. But then remember it's not like Lance don't have technical skills, Leadville have a one or two relatively technical downhills from what I have read, and he also did won other mtb races before Leadville, and it's not like the Epic is really that technical. I would say other mtbers like Burry stands a MUCH better chance on a XC world cup course, than something like the Epic.
  2. Been on the normal eggbeater SL's. (Candy just have the extra base around the eggbeater) for about 3 years now, 2 sani2c's on it, and loads of other races and the training involved in that, and have never had any maintenance issue's with them.

  4. You need Specialties chainrings. But it's hard to find.
  5. Interesting idea, but why would you want to do it? Your getting extra weight, the drop part of the handlebar, and you cannot use hydrolic disks, you have to use cable pull disks, and questionable handling. Perhaps to get more aero on dirt road sections? Or just to do something else and stand out from the crowd? For climbing the hoods of the shifters/bars will give more leverage, but then you can add bar-ends to a mtb bar.
  6. Anyone heard about them before? They have some interesting bikes. For example this SS belt drive MTB http://www.tankcycles.co.za/tank_city_belt.html
  7. Search http://forums.mtbr.com for 2x9 Loads and loads of information about that on there.
  8. Yup your right, used be a mixed of alu and scndium but only alu now. Reason why I mentioned the On One is, it's cheap and decent frame, so one can spend the saved money on lighter wheels. Mmmmh...wonder how much this will work out to. On One Scandal ZTR 335 rims laced to AM hubs. Thomson post and stem kcnc handlbar Sram x9 groupset.
  9. Just below 10kg, something like 9.8kg would be good for a 26" HT, seeing as 29er come in around 11 to 12kg's. Skimp money on the groupset, as in get just below top of the range and spend the money on a decent frame and wheelset. ZTR wheels laced to AM hubs with a On One Scandal(26) frame would be a good base.
  10. I would look at frames from these guys as well http://www.ns-bikes.com/
  11. I would go for the inbred, and use the money you save on some pimp components. But the non-removable dropout on the inbred would make me nervous, especially on a bike that's going to for all intent and purposes be "abused"
  12. My biggest problem with gripshifts are that they shift your brake levers quite a bit more to the middle of your handlebars. Sure you can cut your grips down etc. But it's a problem if you like to use something like Ergon's etc.
  13. Swapped from X9 triggers to X0 gripshifts. They are good and all....but...I think I prefer triggers
  14. How easy is it to buy tufo tyres locally? Been thinkingof getting tubbies as well, but never really had a look at shops to see what they stock in regards with tubbies.
  15. That was not a peak, that was a roadie cap under his helmet. Loads of euro roadies wears them when it rains.
  16. Yup and it's a non-issue for me
  17. R10 000 for 100grams on a 10.5kg bike..ja whatever. Not even close to being that expensive. You can take 400grams of a bike by swapping to Stans Raven and crow tyres' date=' 200g lost per tyre, will cost you about R1400 from CRC. And the list just continue with cheapish light parts. [/quote'] http://www.mbaction.com/ME2/dirmod.asp?sid=6C606132AD374521BC58D4CBDB82F733&nm=Main+All+Modules&type=news&mod=News&mid=9A02E3B96F2A415ABC72CB5F516B4C10&tier=3&nid=2A8DD252ECD0429C950835E4303648BE Do you call these tires?? Daemon, at that level.. nothing is cheap.. at 10 kg's the bike probably already have the "cheepish light parts on" and will need to upgrade to the real thing - expencive light parts Sure but R10 000 for 100grams is BS. R1400 for 400grams at that level is defiantly cheap in the WW circles. Have you ridden these tyres, and not just actually read reviews on the internet? I think lots of people will be suprised by the Ravens and Crows if you run them at the right PSI. Lots of guys love them. Sure it's a pure racing tyre, and that's it's limitations.
  18. For sure, just make sure the granny clears the chainstays.
  19. Depends on your crankset as well. I converted my XT crankset to a 2 blade setup, to get a better chainline, I moved the one spacer on the driveside to the other side. With triple rings two spacers on driveside and one on the other side, like Zaskar mentioned.

  21. Or bike and rider. 3kg's of me and I spend cash for 1/2kg of the bike. Works well for me.
  22. I love my Sram, beeing riding X9 triggers for ages, swapped a couple of days ago to X0 gripshifts, still getting used to it, but seems quite good. All that said, the shimano SLX is a really nice groupset, especially if you look at the preformance/price ratio of it compared to XTR, X0 and XX
  23. Thing is Specialized is a decent brand and makes great products, it's just their representation through local agents/reps that's the problem, and giving them a bad name. The product is still good. Mail Specialized head office with photo's etc and a explanation of everything and heck perhaps even links to this thread and the "I am speechless" one. Pretty much the same problem that I have with KTM South Africa, that's why I ride a GS.
  24. how much is this? Where can i look at for the specs? http://www.ruscelli.com/biking_fenix.htm http://www.fenixtorch.co.uk/led_torches/fenix_l2d_q5.html http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=278695
