  1. Been in two minds about coming to CM pretoria, after watching this thread for a while. IMHO, cm is not for racers who, attack and create chase groups...if you want that go join a velo ride on a saterday morning. However I think in SA not stopping at robots are a bit stupid, and causing more problems with cyclists than helping with "protesting", lots and lots of idiots out on the roads that would love to hit a cyclist, also...that time of the night, lots of drunk drivers. Then the rangers/TB keeping cyclists safe is great, but think about it like this if you where not a cyclist and your in your car and some guy on a motorbike blocks the intersection for a couple of cyclists to come through, how would you feel? I think it's doing more harm than good. Have fun at CM, but obey the road rules.
  2. Mostly the river section etc. Want to still go record daggapad etc.
  3. Thanks, just one ride there. Rode some sections perhaps 3 times or so.
  4. Video I made of a ride I did at Van Gaalens : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S200HY1u2SM
  5. Nice bike, just watch those kcnc quick release on the back. Mine did not fare well on my SS, kept coming loose.
  6. Saw rampage and got excited, saw its really just a marathon stage race. IMO the race name needs to change. Also I think your trying to hard to sell the race. Everything said I am sure the trails are amazing.
  7. Go for a 29er hardtail, mtb so ride anywhere, and the 29er wheels with slicks makes the bike that little bit faster and better on the road if you do plan on going on some group road rides.
  8. While there is a couple of other camera's out there, I don't believe one of them come close to the go pro, all the mountings, and ruggedness of the go pro is unrivalled, imo, and then there's all the extra's, lcd backpack, the wifi backpack etc. That's said, SA prices are a rip off.
  9. Did the otter last year, looking forward to the retto this year, sure going to be interesting in reverse That last big downhill from the mountain to the beach of last year...into a climb this year...ouch!
  10. Anyone doing the Retto this year?
  11. This puts a bit of a damper on the SA one
  12. yeah was about 3.2km this year.
  13. Yes, it's a one day event for everyone. It's just 42km, takes the challenge away if it's get's split over 2 days, the whole thing is about running the Otter trail in a day. 8 hour cut off = Otter run 11 hour cut off = Otter ramble It's the exact same race etc. Just a field split, think of it as the Sani2c race and adventure, same setup.
  14. There is no stop, it's a one day event.
  15. I did the Otter this year and entered again for the Retto next year. By far the best money I have ever spend on a race, the Otter is amazing. And the route is just open for runners once a year during the race. Done multiple sani2c's, panorama's and countless mtb ultra's and marathons, and adventure races, and the otter was one of the hardest things I have done, the stairs kill you.
  16. And this was me awesome event! http://i.imgur.com/zldgG.jpg http://i.imgur.com/pYKKE.jpg http://i.imgur.com/abQlA.jpg http://i.imgur.com/pbA4n.jpg
  17. Anyone keen on doing a SS ride at Groenkloof on sunday the 31ste? If we are enough perhaps have a braai etc afterwards?
  18. Yeah I just created one here as well to get the forum going.
  19. Shame to hear...I was there a couple of times after rides before the WC and the service / food was always excellent.
  20. It's almost as if Teak does not rate for technical ability but more endurance ability. Black..you just suffer a little bit more.
  21. Anyone maybe have a gpx file for the route?
  22. Right to get the SS forum going, let's see everyone's SS mtb's. http://imgur.com/lvcl8.jpg http://imgur.com/0ivuh.jpg http://imgur.com/8o4Xx.jpg
