  4. I love my 29er. Best bike upgrade I did in a long time.
  5. Weird, when I was going through there, there marshal standing there, warning everyone to lower there heads. Also there was red and white bunting on the top of the gate.
  6. Wanted to do the Freedom Challenge next year. Got my provisional entry email - R16500 - WHAT?? They must be smoking something, that for a self supported race? For that price I would rather go to Europa and do a race or two there. SSWC 2011 comes to mind...
  7. Thought I will revive this thread. Here is my SS 29er scandal. http://imgur.com/WiDuW.jpg
  8. Lots of places.. Groenkloof Voortrekker monument Boschkop park - awesome, awesome, awesome singletrack Trackz out out east of pretoria for some technical skills MTN bike park...thought you won't get much distance. etc.
  9. Not really that cheap...and quite limited on products. For example : http://www.buycycle.co.za/buygear/helmets/bell/bell-bellistic-helmet-bell.html R950 an then you still have to pay shipping. http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=30295 R676 + R281(shipping fee) = R957 (and that's only if you don't buy enough stuff to get free shipping) Interesting as well to note how buycycle use the same images for it's products as CRC use.....
  10. Wonder if the old trials are still there, Sugar Bowl, 12 steps, etc.

  12. Really? Would be awesome if Logwood opens up again. Where did you hear about it?
  13. No bike is worth it...but, then perhaps if we do fight back they won't think we are such easy targets anymore.
  14. And the 29er wheels?
  15. The SRAM XX just being sold as a groupset, or can we buy the components separately as well?
  16. Anyone know till what time they stay open during the week for riding?
  17. For road, there is the Bester crowd that starts at waterkloof ridge mall or Velo club cnr hand strijdom and attebury at the garage.
  18. the cops are a joke..if the cycling community does not do something about it, it will just go on and get worse. Perhaps "donate" a bike to a hi-jacker fitted with a tracker and see where the bike goes?
  19. 29er hardtail, simplicity of a hardtail with the added comfort of the 29er wheels.
  20. . Lol no matter how much dagga you smoke, how much glue you sniff and and how much alcohol you drink, do yourself a favour and go to your local security shop take some spray and give yourself a quautersecond spray just in front of your face. And you will realize how effective that stuff is. you can't see or breath. And two hours later your lips still burn. Yes, pepper spray is very effective, if you use the right one. Mist spray might do you more harm than the attacker if the wind blows in the wrong way. Then you hope you manage to get to the spray quickly enough then able to point it in the right way and spray the guy all while trying to stop your bike. Now imagine while doing this, you loose control and crash/fall over, and you have pepper spray on you...I suspect they won't be easy on you. That said...for me personally it's better to at least try to defend yourself than just accept it and go on. Yeah we need to do something, but, most of us live in security complexes, with guards, have a alarms system with armed response, burglar bars on our windows, security gates, dogs etc. And then on a weekend you get bike-jacked, no imagine your riding with your girl/wife, and they rape her? Is it worth it to live like this? I am starting to think it's not...especially if I loo at 1st world countries an their crime stats. I love my country, but do I love it enough to risk the safety of my family on it?
