    Give it a TRI

I try and do about 5-7 sessions per week in a normal week when not training for anything specific. I find that if I start out too far out in advance with serious training I get a bit battle-worn (read: gatvol) towards the end and start to view the training as more of a chore as opposed to doing it for enjoyment. Thus, I now start serious training programmes about 16 weeks out from event-day while keeping up a fair level of fitness through the year.

In short; eat less, run more. Seems about right

  4. As long as it's the hard drive and not the floppy.... (giving my age away)
  5. Ditto, it's been 4 days since any successful activity sync for me

Yeah, literally a race of seconds, and I would assume red-lining from start to finish

Man, I feel old looking at the ages of these guys. Wondered what went wrong with the Brownlees’ race

I’m sure I won’t embarrass myself riding something like that. Looking at a solid 25km/h avg on that rocket
  12. Sheeesh, I must say, my Asics look a lot better at 750km. I usually make it to around 900km, and can then feel that they are moeg. Still looks okay from the outside, but the shock absorption is pretty much non-existent by then and I either start picking up niggles or I feel a bit of strain on longer runs (Well, more than usual in any case)
  13. That's actually getting stupid.
  14. Same here, number also states 56km, but in batch CL. Not too worried though, have a look at the start groups at https://www.asgevents.co.za/bergeendale/. The groups, distance and start times are listed, my group is definitely 107km
  15. Thanks, I've scheduled a few client meetings in Sandton so I'll brave Jo'burg traffic tomorrow
  16. Yeah, if I knew this would be the case I probably wouldn't have entered. Only two collection points, one in Krugersdorp, the other in Fourways both only during office hours when most people work. Have to schlep through from Pretoria now to collect during work hours.
  17. Well, they got the name right; it is a monster, 600m odd of elevation
  18. Wow, that is snappy for that course, well done
  19. Doing the 21km, have ride for sight on Sunday as well so the 42km was a bit ambitious for me
  20. You demoted them for no reason. Team rewards are no longer active. So no free stuff if your tjommies make their goals
  21. Not sure in which area you are, but there are a number of 21km in Pretoria area throughout March. I'm doing a few of these with a 5km on either side of the race (5km warm up 5km cool down) giving me as near as damn it to 32km
  22. 404 Page not found. Is it this one? http://www.brucefordyce.com/single-post/2018/01/31/ITS-FAR-TOO-EARLY-TO-GET-SERIOUS-ABOUT-COMRADES-TRAINING
  23. As someone with a 1 year old, I find it more impressive that she kept the baby happy in a pram for 3:40

" " Ain't that the truth . And there is ALWAYS some upgrade to be had that will make you faster. Because it matters that you finished Ironman in 14:46 instead of 15:00
