  1. Get your points as early as possible in the year; It's a major pain in the backside scrounging for points in December. Make sure you get to Gold ASAP, the amount for your life payback every 5 years is dependent on your Vitality status. If your spouse is joining, ensure that she makes her targets regularly as well; one person can't make it on his own anymore if you add more than one member on Vitality. If you're going to use stuff like the flight booster, plan well ahead to make your flight bookings, your flight discount depends on the number of targets you make between the time you book the flight and the actual flight date. Lastly, make sure you check up on Discovery!! I have found a number of mistakes over the year ranging from points not being allocated, paybacks not happening etc etc
  2. So FYI, if you got any Diamonds in the last few weeks you will have an entry into the Life draw. "In the weeks to come, we’ll be counting down to the draw for the prizes for life on 10 December 2018. You can watch the live draw on the Discovery Vitality Facebook stream from 09:00. We’ll be giving away flights, fuel, gym, movies, concert tickets, smoothies, coffees, tyres, Uber, Nando’s, running shoes, HealthyFood and the latest iPhone … for LIFE."
  3. Sometimes I think people at SARS can't count to 30. My sad story in short, Submit tax returns, hear nothing for 35 days then decide to give them a ring (as returns are meant to be finalised 30 days after submission). Next day I get the usual "you are getting audited" notification, 20 business days to submit vehicle logbook together with a host of other documentation related to my return. Get busy at work; keep postponing the submission of said docs. Finally, after 18 business days decide to get cracking and submit. Before I get to it however, I get a notification on the same from SARS; "I have failed to submit documentation and therefore all travel claims are discarded" WTF??? Not 20 business days yet (the deadline given by SARS), so give call centre a ring. They're are pretty much tits on a bull; I have to submit an objection on the website. I do that and submit my documentation together with complaint. 32 days later, I get notification that tax returns have been refunded sans my travel claim (Thus totally ignoring my objection and also, once again, outside their own self-imposed time limit) Decide, f- this, don't have the time or energy to fight with SARS, and leave it. Another 2 months pass, and then out of the blue, SARS responds to my objection, requesting documentation again!!! If their ineptitude wasn't so ridiculous I would laugh...
  4. Fixed it for you...
  5. R2000 voucher to ??? courtesy of 4 diamonds 1 x R500 voucher to Cape Union Mart 3 x R100 voucher to Woolies 1 x R25 Kauai voucher Yip, came out ahead
  6. My Cape Union mart voucher was valid for about 2/3 weeks
  7. Soooooooo close, hit my fourth diamond this morning ????
  8. Ditto
  9. Better get off this site then too dude; There are racists on this site and you being here makes you a racist as well
  10. I’ve been looking at getting a router for some upcoming projects and came across the Makita 3600b for about R2400 (which seems pretty reasonable for a 1/2 inch router). Can’t find too much info/reviews on it and almost no hits from international sites; pretty much just shops selling it without much else. Anyone with any experience with this machine?
  11. Probably the mug that makes it so expensive ???? Makes you think; if they can charge that for a towel and a mug, how overpriced are their bibs....
  12. Keep it up, makes my chances better for the life draw on 7 Dec ????
  13. I see some guy got 5 Diamonds already (and a trip for 2 to Dubai). I suspect the rest of us will end up with 4 Diamonds (oh so tantalizingly close) before they start expiring
  14. Or.... save yourself R264 and use.... wait for it..... a towel
  15. Pfffff Kevin, that's lame. ("Must have accidentally taken my wife's tablets because they were in the same container") Should rather have asked Daryl and his pharmacist about the excuse they came up with.
  16. Which hiker are you?
  17. Very cool, amazing how many people walked. TBH, I only kept on riding because I knew the first section is the really bad part, once you are over that it is ride-able. (albeit slowly) I think a lot of guys didn't know and gave up too quickly. Agreed on the walkers, keep left if you're going to hike.
  18. Could be worse.... some guys in DL decided to sit behind one of the marshall's (motor)bike
  19. Congrats on a well run event and two thumbs up for the new route, much more scenic than the highway out and back. Had a bit of a stop/start race; narrowly avoided the crash in DL 5km into the race and missed the bunch. Went out a bit hard trying to catch up and burned too many matches.(that’s my story and sticking to it) Managed to hang on to a new group on the highway, but punctured at 70km. Refused to walk up TJ (people, please stay left when walking so others can pass) All in all a lekker day out (although course was 8km short of advertised 98km, maybe something to look at) PS- I see the medals were put on a serious diet from last year
  20. For some reason Discovery never allocates my race points automatically; I always have to log the event manually and only then do I receive my points
  21. DL here
  22. Same here (and we were slooooow, so definitely second half of riders)
  23. Kudos to Frosty and team; it was a good day out. One gripe (and this is a big one); when are you guys going to do something about the wind?
  24. I guess sense of humour failure had kicked in by then; we asked her to to ask her bike if it would be so kind as to do some work on the front. Another guy asked if he could charge his phone on her bike; I guess a joke is only funny the first 27 times ????
