  1. Did the JC marathon yesterday. I had two goals for this race: a) Complete the race without compromising Ironman training too much b) Run a sub 5 Comrades qualifier Arrived nice and early. Or rather, arrived nice and early at 4:50 at the highway off ramp. Took me another hour to try and find parking at the cricket field which according to the organisers had "plenty of parking available." In the end I climbed a pavement 300m from the start line (having a bakkie has its perks). Didn't think the race would be a warm one but found myself sweating quite a bit almost from the start with the high humidity. Kept the pace constant at about 6:45-6:50min/km and completed the first lap in 2:23 feeling quite comfortable. Had a few incidents on the second lap with impatient motorists ignoring the marshals and basically driving through batches of runners. (A few choice words were spoken; having to break rhythm to avoid cars with 36km odd in the legs is no fun). Also had a few issues at the water tables towards the end with most of them having run out of water and only having coke left. (FYI Coke + Rehidrat is not a pleasant combo) Finished in 4:55; mission(s) accomplished. Legs a little sore this morning but the 30min recovery swim I did last night seemed to have helped quite a bit. Will take it slow for the next couple of days and then back to IMSA training. PS For any novices thinking of doing to JC next year; yes it is flat, but not necessarily easy, you have to work the whole time with only really one downhill of about 1km to relax a little
  2. Agreed, that second run on a duathlon is just kuk
  3. Doing the 42km at Johnson Crane. Will be a slow one; Just aiming for a sub 5; dont want to compromise IMSA training too much

    Cricket......

Pitch? What pitch? Just looks like someone had his lawnmower misaligned a little while mowing the outfield
  5. Don't worry, you're not missing out (yet). I've been trying since the start of the year to activate this with the same error message from the website. Don't think this feature ever worked.
  6. Finishing up a rocking horse for my daughter’s first birthday on Saturday

Remember the cut-offs is not per activity ( except the swim); it is enforced from when the race start. E.g. the cut-offs for Ironman 70.3 is 1:10 swim 4:05 bike 3:15 run. If you swim 1 hour, then you have 4:15 to make the cut-off for the bike, and if you made a 1 hour swim, a 3:30 bike then you have 4 hours to finish the run.

To add to that, DON’T use a foam roller on it. See video by Dave Scott on this exact topic https://www.facebook.com/davescottim6/videos/982895555102393/
  9. Got my breakfast from a VA Kauai without much of an issue. Only thing was no one had a clue which breakfasts the voucher is valid for
  10. Better than my wife; got a bike, did 2 rides. Bike got stolen, replaced with new one by insurance, got pregnant resulting in zero rides on new bike.

I tend to err on the side of caution (ie not descend flat-out) in mass participation events. You can never predict what the person in front of you will do so I give ample space to the guy in front when descending quickly. You can't win a race on a downhill, but you can certainly lose it.
  12. Funny you should mention this, recently read this article http://www.triathlete.com/2012/12/training/ask-a-pro-why-does-swimming-make-me-so-sleepy_68669 Never had the problem myself though.
  13. Points for both wife and myself showing correctly on IOS app
  14. Well done guys - both for a lekker, well organised event and getting rid of cheating c-nuts with an ego problem. Just one thing - Is the guy's name Muhamed Hajjam (http://results.racetec.co.za/results_by_person.aspx?PID=323969) or Mohammed Hajjid (http://germistonclassic.co.za/amended-results-vc-group/) Also, I would suggest that racetec puts a big, fat DQ next to his name for the event instead of just removing the result from his profile
  15. Thanks for the offer Gerald, but don't worry, I've already submitted the query to racetec
  16. Agreed, something is off, my Garmin time is a good 10min slower than my official Racetec time. And I was late and only started 4 min AFTER the last 103km batch left Edit- even worse, myself and 3 friends all reflect as having raced 65km instead of 103km. Suppose it is due to us starting late
  17. You know it's the weekend of 5 November and not this coming weekend right?
  18. Count me as one of the chipless, I forgot that my chip as still attached to my previous (stolen) bike and only realised the evening before when getting everything ready

Yip, only hit me on Tuesday, but had a very unhappy tummy from then on until today
  20. Saw this as well and downloaded the latest on iphone. App looks pretty much the same to me. Still cant view the drive rewards and progress
  21. Also up to 800. A friend of mine on the other hand is still on 600 despite the fact the he's averaging about 900 points. Odd
  22. Good thing then that the 94.7 is not a Momentum event anymore anymore
  23. Ah yes, the days when Ironman events were still on the list....
  24. My wife has the exact same issue. I now log on to her account from my iphone, save rewards in wallet and send screen shots back to her
  25. Well this is a first for me, getting points for two events on the same day. One was gym swipe, the other a cycle in the afternoon
