  1. Thinking about this question makes my head hurt. Last year list looks like this:- Bought Sc tall boy -2nd hand Lynskey pro 29er frame - 2nd hand Momsen ladies 29er - new Silverback HT 29er - 2nd hand Garmin Edge Maintenance Complete rebuild of other SC tall boy incl front shock 5 schalwbe tyres Races -with wife Lowveld Quest Panorama Tour Josi2kosi This year's plan Purchases None Maintenance Just had complete drivetrain change on my bike Races Jhb2c Stage race in StLucia area Might be cheaper to support Zuma's wives
  2. My wife and I are both short - 173cm and 168 and we have short legs. Both of us ride medium sized 29ers - DS (SC Tallboys) and HT ( Lynskey and Momsen). We don't feel that our riding position is uncomfortable or stretched out. Previously our 26ers were all mediums. Different brands may have slightly different measurements - My Silverback Vida 1 was a medium and it felt too big I have not ridden a 27.5 so cannot offer an opinion.

    Man Cave v2.0

Another S-works epic. Photo is actually a couple years old. All these bikes have been sold/given away. Now we have a bigger place and fewer bikes so storage is much more organized. But we would like to have a single area where we can have all our bikes and related stuff

    Man Cave v2.0

More of a case of too many bikes and not enough space to store them properly as opposed to a man cave.
  5. One of the parts I enjoyed was being stopped by this driver and told how mad we were to be riding up the pass on bikes. He then set off down the pass while we went to pub for a beer and snack. We then passed him half way down to RSA border post.
  6. I decided to add a bit of colour to my polished titanium singlespeed
  7. I also looked at a folding bike called Stride from Norway. I think both bikes are more suited to a short flattish route
  8. Congrats. We did it on our single bikes a fews ago. It had been on my to do list since 1999 and was a worth challenge. I had a local beer as is my custom when visiting a foreign country.

Lowveld Quest in April is also a good option
  10. PM responded to
  11. R3500 ono
  12. I have a black GT Peace 26er (medium) that is looking for a caring owner
  13. So did my Silverback Vida
  14. My grandfather fought for the British during Boer war. He was captured, befriended one of his prison guards and met the guard's sister. After the war he was released and sent back to Britain. When he was demobilised he came back here and married his guard's sister. My dad was one of 8 kids so they did not take away all his ammo.
  15. As part of my commute used to include the Gautrain I wore nylon shorts and T shirts and Shimano SPD commuter shoes. I found that smell of the twice daily sweating was very difficult to wash out of my commuting clothes so I wore R80 shorts and shirts from Mr Price and replaced them every six months.
  16. I agree on the Contraband Rogue. If my existing SS bike was not so awesome ( in my mind), I would have a Rogue on order
  17. I have Rocket Ron on front of one bike and Nobby Nic on other bike
  18. Whenever I see someone locking up/skidding I always ask them if their dad buys their tyres.
  19. I do very little tar ,and try very hard to never lock up the back wheel. I am not a light weight ( compared to pros) 78kgs
  20. After being an absolute Conti fan for many years I bought a 2nd hand bike in December 2012 that was fitted with Racing Ralphs ( Evo Snakeskin). As my friends know I am not one to waste money so I thought that I would keep the tyres and replace when worn. Based on comments it was not going to be a long wait to replace. After nearly 3500 kms on mainly rocky trails I have finally replaced the back tyre with another RR. The previous owner had ridden this tyre for a few months so maybe another 500kms before I got it. Not one puncture. Some of my riding included Lowveld Quest ( very muddy), Mapumgubwe Game reserve (sandy and thorny) and Josi2Kosi ( gravel roads, rocky, sandy). In addition I have enjoy the feel of this large volume tyre. Needless to say all four of our bikes are now shod with Schwalbe tyres
  21. We have done 13 but are going to miss this one as we are a little bored with the race.
  22. Where did you buy that green Race Face chainring? I would like to get one for my wife's single speed
  23. We have struggled to get excited about this tour after the Giro and TDF. The attacks look half hearted and Nibali so calm and dominant.
  24. I done this type of weekend at the Crater Cruise for the past 10 years.
  25. Thanks for the feedback. Now the urge to get one is even greater. I have sent Naas at Evobikes an enquiry.
